Blue Morel Ratings and Reviews
Perfectly executed dinner. If I was pressed to state a negative....the room was fer too cold.
But the dinner was delicious.
The server was charming, helpful and attentive.
Unusually prepared cocktails.
Updated menu for the season of fresh vegetables....corn soup, watermelon salad, etc.
A very select menu.
Came here for Father's Day brunch. Food was just OK. The turnoff though was when we received the bill and saw they had added a 20% gratuity...for a buffet...for my family of 4...in the middle of Morristown. Seriously? Not mentioned when I made the reservation, when we sat down, or when they brought us the bill. Maybe they were hoping we wouldn't notice and would tip over that. I get that for a full course meal in the middle of Times Square where you might get tourists who don't tip at all, but not under our circumstances. That was a real turnoff. Too many other places in the area to patronize here again.
I went for brunch with a friend.
Well, really not a brunch at all, the options were either standard hotel basic breakfast or very limited lunch options, and I mean limited : about 5 in the whole menu,
Service was slow despite the fact the place was practically empty ( now I know why)besides a table, already seated, of about 20. The best part about this place is the quiet, you can talk without shouting and the chairs that are really comfortable. The food was " meh" nothing special. I wish they did not advertise brunch because they really do not have it.
The food was delicious and expertly prepared and the wait staff was extremely attentive. My only issue was with the lack of a dress code. It seemed an odd choice to sit a gentleman wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and flip flops next to my wife and I as we celebrated our anniversary. I understand the restaurant is attached to a hotel, but maybe you can suggest casual dinners sit at the bar.
My wife and I were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. I actually met my wife at The Blue Morel restaurant when it used to be a club in the early 1990's called Boca Bay.
Overall, The Blue Morel is a fantastic restaurant. The seafood selection and the food quality is the best in the area. In addition, the cocktails are made to perfection. The Blue Morel never disappoints. We had a fantastic evening !!!
The food served was a prefix menu. My wife food was great tasting and flavorful but my meal was very underwhelming. Service was very poor....service took a long time yet the room was only at 30-40% capacity. Waiter took my meal away and ask if I like coffee but never ask my wife the same. Manager came over about 5-10 minutes later and ask the same question to us both but never came back with our coffee. We finally flagged another waiter and he brought it over right away. Was very disappointing to me as I've eaten here many times before and this was not the typical service we have come to expect. Will probably be a while before I consider coming back.
We have eaten here many times, especially for special occasions. Our waiter, Fabian, was fantastic! He helped us the last time we ate at this restaurant too. I highly recommend this place. We've never had a bad experience.
Went for our anniversary dinner. Ordered a bottle of wine that they were out of. Secondary choice was good. Outstanding spicy tuna roll and short rib pappardelle apps. Chicken and filet mignon entrees left a bit to be desired... chocolate ice cream and apple cobbler dessert were nicely presented. Our server was pleasant and attentive.
The Blue Morel is an outstanding restaurant. We sat at the bar where the Oysters were excellent and the Duck entree was wonderful. The wine list by the glass is very extensive however we ordered a Stags Leap bottle which was excellent. They decanted the bottle which made it even more delicious. All the bar staff were great and I would recommend this restaurant to all.
Much better experience "service" wise than last time. Fabian was our waiter. Attentive but not intrusive. Very pleasant young man. Last time our service was so plainfully slow.. this time it was perfect. Sushi is great. I had the spicy tuna roll. Sort of wished it had cucumber or avacado or roe on top. Just rice and spicy tuna, a bit plain but the tuna was delicious. Crab cakes are not bready at all. Lots of crab. My husband had the salmon with ramen noodles and he really enjoyed it. We shared the apple crumble which was yummy. We will definitely be back.
In a business hotel, the space is beautiful and the food very good.
I would recommend with reservation.
Our service was very spotty for fine dining.
Waiter had language problem... difficult to understand and very somber... almost funereal.
Waitress could have cared less about
Our requests ( rather simple.., extra plate..
Never returned ) clearing dishes without asking if we were finished etc.
Describe waitress's as surly.
The food was beyond my expectations. Staff was super friendly, professional, but laid back. All the food was well flavored and tasted expertly crafted. I also loved that they had a children's menu with options that kids would actually eat. Dessert was delicious. You have to try the warm chocolate brioche. Cannot wait to come back again!
We had been to Blue Morel for brunch last year and thought the food was excellent, as was the variety of dishes on the buffet and dessert table. This time, although it was listed as Brunch on Open Table, it was merely a breakfast buffet, with the standard scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, french toast (undercooked), oatmeal and boxed cereals. If we had known, we would never have driven there and certainly wouldn't have spent that much $$.
The food and service was excellent here. This was the first time I've ever ate at the restaurant, though I've been to corporate events catered by Blue Morel in the past. The cinnamon chili Chilean sea bass was really good! I'd definitely recommend going here. One of the best restaurants in Morristown.
Really nice atmosphere, great drinks and food. Portions were a bit small for the price. Could use more vegetables especially in what would be considered a vegetarian option that I ordered. Flavor was great but veggies were sparse. Would've been hungry if I didn't have an appetizer. My husband loved his Sea bass! Overall a nice evening though. We will go back!
