The food and service was generally good, but the server didn’t wish my friend happy birthday when I did indicate on my open table reservation that it was her birthday.
Great first visit. We will recommend it and we will definitely be back!
Early Valentines Day dinner with husband. Service and food was very good. Noise level was higher than normal and I had wished we were seated at another table rather than the “tables for two” by banquets. Too close to other couples and you hear their conversations.
Otherwise very nice dinner.
Me and my wife went there for dinner, so we tried to order a wine that was under $60 and it became very difficult to find something decent. So as we were looking our appetizers can out I had octopus and she had a butternut soup. Both were Ok so we were still looking for a wine and our entrees came out. So I asked the waiter just to bring us two glasses of Pinot Noir. Well little did I now they were $26 a glass. HELLO don't you think we should have been told the price. So then I cut into my lamb shank it was as hard as a rock, this is an easy dish to braise and it should fall off the bone, you should be able to eat it with spoon. I have owned restaurant and i currently teach Culinary Arts. They we sorry about the lamb and said they would by us dessert. I did not eat the Lamb and found it strange that I would be charge for this disaster. I would be happy to show him how to cook this properly. Just email me and come over.
Had a biz lunch here. My first time. Service was excellent - it was very quiet (it's in a suburban hotel). The dining room is lovely.
The food missed a bit. The spices were off on the soup (too much nutmeg/not enough salt) and the roasted veggies in the roasted veggie tart were still hard and were under-seasoned.
However, I would try it again.
Server was sort of miserable. Gluten free options were VERY limited, and hard to find.
A nice spot if you are catching a show at the Bickford Theater. I had the kale salad (really good), vegetable terrine (thought it should have been a little warmer, but otherwise tasty with silky smooth tofu filling with tender carrots and baby asparagus), brussel sprouts ( good), apple old fashioned (strong but otherwise tasty), after dinner house coffee (surprisingly really good coffee), and oddly the rum chatta cheesecake was just OK (maybe it just sounded cool). My table had the short ribs and squash soup; heard both were excellent + $1 was donated to Morristown Soup Kitchen. Service was impeccable.
Another wonderful meal at the Blue Morel. Everything is so beautifully done here. From drinks at the bar to delicious desserts (if you still have room). Spent some time at the bar to relax a bit before dinner. Try the Blue Morel Manhattan if you love bourbon. The crab cakes and tuna tartar were a great way to start off our meal. The sommelier helped use choose two great bottles of wine and a fine pick for wine by the glass. The braised lamb shank was new to the menu and was highly recommended by our waiter. Three of use had it and we were not disappointed. The pan roasted branzino was delicious too. Warm Chocolate Brioche and Red Wine Poached Pear were shared by all to finish off the meal. Service was wonderful. If you want a dining experience that is done perfectly then come to the Blue Morel.
Food was very good, service was lacking. Our server never offered additional cocktails after the initial drinks, never asked how steak was to be cooked, neber asked how our meal was,nor were we asked if we wanted coffee. Our server seemed more interested in conducting her conversation with a fellow server. And to note, the dining area was not busy, with only a handful of tables occupied.
Birthday dinner was never acknowledged
I hadn't been to the restaurant in this hotel for 5-7 years and was surprised it looked the same despite being a new restaurant. Unfortunately the heat was on the fritz and it was 16 degrees outside. We kept our coats on for dinner. The meal was tasty however, more ambiance is needed.
Not sure I would return. While food was delicious, it was quite pricey. Would choose Towne Bar in Morristown over Blue Morel. Yes, very good service. Yes, more seafood options if that is what you are looking for - but Towne would win.
Very attentive service as always. Very elegant ambience and fun bar with sushi area. The food is creative and very delicious. We made a suggestion bout one dish which one of us ordered and the chef listened.
Unfortunately the sea bass had many large bones in it which should have been noticed. That entrée was taken off the bill for us.
All in all we will go back for another dinner.
New Years brunch. Ate here five years ago. It was better then. Cold in the room. Shrimp tray was slow to replenish. Dessert choices were skimpier. Omelette station was understaffed. No standout dishes served. Server was nice and helpful.
Disappointing. Nothing really special about the buffet breakfast.
At a minimum , an omelet station would have been a differentiator.
Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Staff was very accommodating to our complicated situation causing multiply headcount change.
My two friends and I had a SUPERB Christmas dinner at this restaurant. The food was exquisite. The service was magnificent.
Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable staff. Courteous without being overbearing. Meal was very good and fantastic bottle of wine.
Amazing experience. Impeccable service all the time. The service puts most other restaurants of the same class to shame.
My husband and I will definitely return to Blue Morel. I only wish we lived closer to Morristown.
Lunch service was horrendous.. sat for 20 minutes before waiter took our lunch order!
Best meal we've had there in a while (and they've all been great!) Love the fall menu, exceptional new desserts. My son and husband both said it was the best filet they've had in a long time. Short rib tagliatelle is a perfect comfort food. Crab cakes had very little filler, sushi is exceptional. All exquisitely paired with their wines. We will be back again soon!
The food at Blue Morel is always evolving, but always phenomenal. The service is friendly but crisp and professional. We eagerly awaited each new dish because they were so good. General Manager Richard Ramos has this place flying. We'll always go back when we're in Morristown.
Have been here many times and have always loved the food but this dinner was the absolute best in terms of quality of food and most interesting presentation! Highly recommend duck ( had it several weeks ago), the lamb and branzino with artichokes. Friend loved Tuna Tartare. Great interesting wine list ( not the same old same old!). Enjoyed Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley and ( though don’t usually drink Chardonnay) a nice Chardonnay from Tuscany. Friends enjoyed other wine choices.

Booked here for a wedding anniversary celebration and was given a wonderful complimentary dessert - very thoughtful! Very good service. A bit noisy at first but settled down after a while.
NEVER AGAIN! This was our second visit but will definitely be our last! The special appetizers were tasteless & way overpriced. We ordered a great bottle of wine and we were thoroughly enjoying our time together so it was almost two hours before we noticed that everyone around us, even people who came way after us, had been served their food. We alerted our server and she said there was a new chef and it would just be a few minutes. After 15 minutes of still no food and we were not even offered more bread or anything, we tried to get the attention of the manager who seemed aware but was deliberately ignoring us. After our urging, she finally came over and was barely apologetic. She offered us sushi that we had already had as an appetizer. We continued to see others around us served even after our conversation and she had offered no accommodation whatsoever. We were so starving by this point we decided to pay and leave. We have never walked out of a restaurant before and will never go back! Not to mention the parking is terrible because of weddings and the hotel, its noisy, and management is uninterested in providing good customer service!

We were very disappointed. The room is very attractive and the servers were anxious to please. Three of us ordered a special which we thought was similar to sweetbreads which is seldom on menus. We all took no more than a few bites, it was covered with a thick brown sauce, very unappetizing. Too top it off my dessert was supposed to to be hazelnut chocolate ice cream. It was not at all as described. There was a thick marshmallow like sauce over 3 different ice cream flavors none of which was hazelnut chocolate. The food was a disaster.

Always a great meal. Love the tuna tartare and I tried the octopus which was not over cooked. Great presentation and attentive staff but not hovering. Entrees are generous and the food is always cooked as ordered.
Heads Up. P I was entertaining a group of six business clients. Everything from the bar experience to the table service was excellent until they brought me the bill. Both the bar tab and the dining table included a 20% tip for parties of six or more. I was not informed by the Bartender or our waiter. Luckily I caught it myself and did not tip again on top of the 20% they already added. Our bill was over $700 so an additional 20% on top of the 20% they already added would have been ridiculous.
Waiter was impatient and abrupt. Food was nice, but a plate of "foam" under sea bass was a whole lot of "nothing".
I have eaten here many times over the years. When they changed their name the food took a downhill turn. The chef obviously does not understand the concept of subtlety. Sauces and spices are so overwhelming you can barely tell what you're eating.
My wife used to love the grilled octopus. They started cooking it with chorizo. Octopus has a subtle flavor and with this preparation the only thing you taste is the chorizo.
A while back we ordered soft shell crabs. Again a delicate dish. It was covered with so much sauce, which had an overwhelming flavor that it might as well have been a piece of crummy tilapia. I could go on and on.
We used to love this place and therefore that's why we kept going back.
Lamb recently had such a char flavor that you couldn't tell what kind of meat it was. Seemed like they used an entire bottle of artificial smoke on it. My fillet was fine, but surrounded by vegetables that were spiced so heavily and poorly that they were inedible and flavored the meat.
The crab cakes are still great; the clams are minuscule, not worth the effort to remove from the shells.
Although we kept going back, hoping they'd get a new chef, we have decided this was our last visit. Shame.
Limited meal selections but everything was delicious!
I never were a review but I felt I needed to based on the experience. The price is very high and the food was ok. Super limited Sunday menu. I wish I went on another night. We asked for the steak medium rare. It came out extremely well done. By the time they came to see how the meal was and offered to take it back we were already more than half way through the meal. We didn't want to wait for a new steak. The least the could have done was comped dessert or appetizer but they didn't.
The food was very mediocre. I dine out frequently and the flavor of the food was not a good quality especially for the price. We ordered our meals with two sides and they forgot to make the sides until I reminded the waiter and they came out when we were nearly done with the meal.
This was a very poor dining experience.
I think of Blue Morel as two restaurants: one at the bar and one in the main dining room. The bartenders are friendly, remember faces well, and never disappoint when fixing cocktails. My wife and I prefer eating at the bar on a Friday night out vs the dining room because we enjoy the scene and chatting with the bartenders. When going with friends we enjoy the main dining room which has established itself as one of the go-to restaurant venues in the area. The staff is attentive but not looming and the wine list is one of the best finds in Morris County. Order from the raw bar and enjoy their sushi appetizers and you'll leave happy.
Good & Service was excellent It was a Birthday celebration & the Resturant made it very special
