Excellent service excellent food
The "chef" decided to limit the menu to only a few items because of a large party coming the next day according to our waiter. The filet was OK but the brown kale mush served with it was almost inedible. The wine list was anemic for a place called a wine bar. Thankfully our waiter was very good and even arranged an off menu cheese plate for us.
This used to be our favorite restaurant. They’ve cut the menu to include only a few items, and the items they do have are severely overpriced for the amount of food you get. The $45 steak could not have been more than 4-6 ounces. The lobster gnocchi, while delicious, maybe had 10 gnoccis in it. Will not go back unfortunately.
The dining experience at Blue Morel was lovely. The service was exceptional. The ambiance was outstanding. Couldn't have asked for a better Christmas Day experience.
Way better without fixed menu for Christmas Eve.
Exquisite, delicious food, knowledgeable and friendly server, coat check, special drinks- amazing time!
The experience was not like we have had in the past. Hopefully it was just an off night. Started with trying to pick a wine. Ordered a Sancerre and they brought a warm Pouilly. Then the figured out they were out of it. Brought a South African Chardonnay as a replacement. Totally different category. So now I’m wondering if they should call themselves a wine bar. Changed up and ordered a Pinot Grigio. After several minutes of walking around they finally found it. But it was warm as well. Got it into the ice bucket and after 10 minutes or so it was ready. Appetizer round was better all 3 appetizers came out quickly and were tasty. Somewhere in there they realized the did not bring us bread and that showed up. Very good by the way. Entree round was ok. Cooked well but not seasoned so it just was ok. Nothing that would make you say that was an awesome meal.
Will try again in the spring. Hopefully things will return to what we have experienced before
Crab cake appetizer is delicious. Enjoyed our entrees. I had halibut and husband had lamb. Rosti potatoes came out late and were not good. They are like hashed browns with a sauce on it. Did not like. Will try fingerlings next time. Really like the restaurant and wait staff is good. Will return.
Love the food here every dish was great! A tad pricey tho.
We have enjoyed Blue Morel for several years now . The service is always consistently good and our food is equally delicious . The ambience is just about right . There are other tables of diners throughout the restaurant but the noise level is fine. The whole experience is refined and wonderful . The establishment goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed and cared for . We will be there again.
Because it was Thanksgiving, the menu was understandably limited but it would have been nice if the chef could have made the sides available as an extra. However, the food was delicious and the service outstanding. We never felt rushed, but our waiter made sure that we never felt forgotten, either. Yes, it was expensive, but that was expected. I was a little unhappy to get a charge for still water, but did not say anything because it was a holiday menu and there was no reason to question the bill. We would definitely return.
we had a very good experience. crab cake for appetizer was one of the best i've ever had. very little breading. yummy. entrees were well prepared and delicious. the halibut was excellent and my husband enjoyed the roast chicken. we split the chocolate torte for dessert. husband liked it very much....i didn't care for it because i'm not a big chocolate person. service was excellent. wine was good. ambience was very nice. i was skeptical since its in a hotel, but it was very nice and convenient to have easy parking
Excellent meal great service. Chef Brian Gregg has put together a beautiful menu.
I decided to try out the new menu and chef with some friends and have to say it was disappointing. I went in knowing that it wasn't going to be the same quality and was a bit skeptical given other reviews. Starting from the beginning, the hostess and the waiter was very nice and hospitable. But it's all downhill from there... To start, the wine list by the glass and bottle are limited and bottom basement for a restaurant who charges fine dining prices. The presentation of the food is nice but the actual taste is not. Also both of our fish came out cold..a cold fish with bokchoy...not good. I made sure to give kind feed back so that they can get their act together. I want to give them a benefit of doubt given that they have been open only for 3 weeks.
I've been going to Blue Morel (and Copeland before that!) for a decade. Great bar, big windows, beautiful dining room. This month they got a new chef - Bryan Gregg - and his new menu. Lots of good first course choices so we have to go back. The cauliflower and lobster soup was rich and delicious so I wasn't sorry I didn't try the bigeye tuna crudo or the tartare with cured yolk - but I'm going back for them.
Next was the Halibut+Young Broccoli+Charred Onion+Farro+Country Ham Emulsion and Grilled Aged Lamb+Pickled Peaches+Vadouvan+Yellowfoot Mushrooms+Blue Corn. Probably the tenderest lamb I've ever had, and I didn't know what vadouvan was until I got home but it was amazing. Halibut was perfectly cooked too.
I recognized a couple of the staff that had been there for years and they too were excited about Bryan and the new menu. Very attentive and friendly service. Can't wait to go back.
It was our first time back in many months and we were looking forward to it. Big disappointment!! They need to bring back the extensive raw bar and previous menu. We won't be back any time soon unless they do
Couldn't have asked for better food! Everything was excellent and delicious! Complimentary Champaign for our anniversary. Wonderful menu as they pivoted to Covid-friendly selections.
First time back since they opened post COVID. Different chef and different menu. We really wish the old chef was still there. While the dishes were good, they weren't great. Most dishes were one note and needed acid. The table ordered the cauliflower soup, it was thin and salty. The beef tartar was good.. The scallops and cod needed acid and the cod was too sweet. The squash ravioli was appreciated the most of the entrees ordered. The dessert ordered was the chocolate hazelnut torte, and was the best dish ordered. Blue Morel was our favorite local restaurant and we miss the old version. We will return to give this new version another shot but it needs a lot of improvement from our perspective. Service continues to be good.
The bar is kind of cool despite being at the opposite end of the room....Cocktails were very good!
We started with Oysters Rockefeller that arrived just sitting on a plate--the shells literally just on a plate with just a lemon.....and so small they looked more like Clams Oreganata. No spinach....nothing tasting or even remotely resembling Oysters Rockefeller.
Everything else was excellent including the lamb ragu, sea bass, and sirloin steak special.
Waitress took the oysters off our bill which was the right thing to do.
We'll give it a second look.
Will come again. that was my second experience and i repeat: will come again.
Ordered sea bass, It is there signature dish and was not good. It is my favorite dish so I regularly order it at restaurants, I know how good it can be.
Food and service were very good. Hotel restaurant atmosphere - a bit pricey.
The restaurant is beautiful, service was good and pleasant but food was very disappointing! My filet mignon was ridiculously tasteless and not even done the way i asked for it to be done.
Brunch. Very uninspired. Overpriced. It was good but not worth the money
Awesome food, great service, very good ambience. And celebratory desert on the house!
The Valentines prefix menu was way overpriced for the value. My wife’s appetizer was a plate full of plain salad with lackluster presentation, and her dessert was a plate full of fruits. I would not recommend it to friends.
Sef1, Thank you for joining us for Valentine's Day. Our chef created an amazing Valentine's Day 3 course menu. The two items that you described were not part of our Valentine's Day menu. It sounds like we were accommodating a dietary restriction. We normally add a GF to denote items that are gluten free and some items can be modified to be gluten free. We will do our best to accommodate any allergy or dietary restriction. I hope that you give us another chance to wow you and your wife.
I love this hotel and this place. The menu and drinks are a bit pricey but the food and service is excellent. 5 stars.
I am becoming a regular at Blue Morel because the food and service are consistently top notch.
This place was AMAZING. I've heard great things and thought to try it out myself. I did the Friday 4 course meal for $49. Amazing price with amazing dishes!
Slow service...limited -unclear menu. Will not return.
We were celebrating our 24th wedding anniversary. The service was a bit slow, although the server was pleasant. We were underwhelmed with the steak we ordered (although we finished it) - mine was a bit overcooked, while my husbands had to be sent back. A portion of it was raw, although he ordered it medium. We had to flag the server down twice, and were not asked for drink refills.
We didn't care for the seating arrangements. It allowed no privacy and felt very close to two other couples on either side.
Although I would normally not give a poor review, I felt the experience was less than desirable.
Food and service was very good. It was not too loud and although it is not romantic, it was a nice date night with my wife. We left the kids home with a sitter, so it was nice to eat in a place without kids, which seems hard to find.
We decided to try Blue Model's Friday night tasting menu. At $49/person, it was an excellent value for four courses. Our appetizers were smoked trout on bagette, and duck ravioli were very tasty. As a main course, I had a filet and my husband had ago tuna. Both were prepare perfectly. Dessert was good, but not outstanding. However, my husband said his espresso was the best he had in a long time. We will return!
Always excellent food and service. Be aware that the "special" advertised on Open Table was Happy Hour prices, which only apply at the bar.
Food and service were excellent! Beverage program is top-notch! Will absolutely be back.
I try to like Blue Morel but every time I go I am underwhelmed
I don’t like feeling like I am in a hotel dining room
Everything is very expensive and the taste is just ok
It gets very expensive but I don’t mind if the food is exceptional
I feel like they need to raise the bar
I didn’t like the choices on the menu that much
I think they should get rid of the carpeting and put in wood planks and modernize it a little bit but if they don’t and the food is exceptional I don’t mind . But for now I say meh!
