We are local and eat here often. Service is normally so-so but today was much worse. We had a guy waiter. Food was cold when served. Not so happy. Won’t go back for a while

The restaurant, inside, has the misfortune of looking like a fancy ice cream parlor (at night);possibly because of the style of furniture and the too bright lighting, however- the food is quite good and inventive-
I would definitely eat there again.
Note: the salads are a bit small for sharing, but the entrees are very generous-sized servings.

Our server Angie was great. We also brought a special bottle of wine to enjoy with our dinner. Jason the manager had it decanted and on our table when we arrived. Food looked as fabulous as it tasted. A nice taste of France in Avila!

We are outside in November and the heaters kept us comfortable. The entrees came out soooo late and our waitress didn’t seem to know that we hadn’t yet had them? We weren’t in a hurry, but it was odd. The French onion soup was amazing! Everything else was ok. Had the chicken, hubby had short rib special and steak tartare

We had a great table in the breezeway at the side of the restaurant, outdoors, with the heater. This allowed us to talk freely, without competing against the boisterous sounds coming from a large group on the front patio. Perfect for us!

I was a little bit disappointed with the salad I ordered. When I asked for dressing on the side, it wasn't explained to me that the chef would plate the greens and burrata over some butternut squash puree, then drizzle pom. syrup and oil over top. Instead, all 3 components came out in little cups and so the presentation and way the flavors would have married was lost. The burrata was yum but overall, the salad was smaller than I expected.
My friend throughly enjoyed his Cubano sandwich which came with a nice looking salad.
We enjoyed a bottle of Droughin beaujolais nouveau and a lovely day out on the patio.

On this third trip to Blue Moon, our expectations were exceeded again. The beef was delectable and prepared well and the safron risotto wit its shrimp and scallops was first class. Good wine list and fun location. Will definitely return.

Our server, Andrea, was outstanding! We were there to celebrate a birthday and she made it very special. The food was delectable and what could be wrong with dining to the crashing of waves? Highly recommend!

The reason for low rating is because our order was wrong from the time it was brought to us-to receiving the check. So that made it a very disappointing experience, our waitress seemed to think it wasn’t a big deal. Will not be going back!

We love the outdoor seating at Blue Moon Over Avila. The food is very good. My husband and I shared the beef tartare appetizer and mushroom ravioli entree. So happy we had room for dessert! Yummy profiteroles.

The food was poor quality. The French onion soup had onions that were not cooked all the way. I know for a fact that the onions have to be caramelized and cook through. We also got the Escargots and a few of them for grainy!!!

Blue Moon Over Avila is a lovely restaurant with delicious food, a pleasant coastal ambiance, and decent service once they know you're there. Our service was delayed as no server was specifically assigned to us, but she was attentive once she was made aware of the omission. The manager kindly offered a basket of bread to compensate for the half hour delay. As my friend and I were catching up with each other while enjoying the live jazz piano renditions, the lengthy delay was tolerable. Definitely worth trying trying a second time.

The 4 of us had a very pleasant lunch along with our dog. Three of us had the Cubano sandwich special & the 4th had a croque monsieur. All were very good, particularly when accompanied by a nice Sancerre.

Very disappointing experience compared to previous visits.
Mask: waitress did not wear a mask although clearly written at entrance that masks were mandatory
Service: we were told that 4 people dud not show up hence to expect delay in service - same comment last time we came
Wait to be served: 20 min although our drinks came with the meal
Personnel: one of the waiter looked
disheveled with unkempt hair.

Great service! The taste of the food clicked about eight out of 10. The $5 basket of bread and butter should have been warm and crunchy but was not. The butternut squash soup with wild rice was delicious.

They were having a bad night...a real bad night. We were seated at 7PM, and after 20 minutes we decided we better flag somebody down to take our order. She didn't tell us the specials (we overheard them later,) and then we waited. Numerous staff members (busboy, other waiters, the maitre d', etc.) came by to tell us our food would be out "real soon." They were lying. We overheard other tables that were being seated that the "kitchen was running a little slow tonight." Our food (table of 3) arrived (one plate at a time) an hour and 20 minutes after ordering. Something was clearly up in the kitchen (short staffed?) but they should not have been seating people if they could not produce food in a timely manner.

Took my husband on a date and had reservations with some special requests but requests weren’t fulfilled. Also I order the lamb chop and was definitely not what I expected. It was very undercooked and I wasn’t asked how I wanted it cooked. I wouldn’t go back especially for what I paid I expected at least a little more.

We've been coming to this restaurant since it opened 4 years ago, and have never had a bad experience. We go every year to celebrate our anniversary. However, we had an unpleasant incident this past weekend. We stopped by the restaurant around 4:30 to see if we could make a reservation for that evening. The host could not have been more rude in telling that there was basically no chance of us getting a table there that night. He was totally condescending and showed zero interest in helping to try to squeeze us in at some point that evening. We were totally flexible too. It's not like we were adamant about wanting to get in at a specific time. My wife even said, "how about if we came in on the earlier side?" And he responded by saying, "no, we are fully booked starting in 4 minutes!" The guy had a HORRIBLE attitude and should definitely not be working face to face with customers. Fortunately we went back to our hotel and checked Open Table, and there were plenty of tables available. Once we got past Mr. Grumpy (the host), everything fell into place. Our waitress was amazing. Super friendly, and great energy. And the food was excellent as always. Grateful for Open Table! But hopefully management can do something about host. Someone as unpleasant as him should not be the first impression one gets at this lovely restaurant.

That evening they happened to be the only eatery open due to power outage. Considering these circumstances the service was superb, ambience lovely but the food was only medium. Appetizers were great! I had to ask for a steak knife to cut my filet mignon and one of my dinner companions duck was somewhat flavorless. However the Chilean Sea Bass was outstanding and definitely the winner. Location was perfect as always. I will return as I believe they deserve a second chance.

We were there a full 15 minutes before the table next to us; We had not gotten to place our order before ;they got their drinks, then appetizers. We placed orders for entrees only. A full 45 minutes before they came. Table next to us ( different server) were done with their entrees before we even got ours. When it came, it was excellent, except it was not hot. Almost lukewarm, so we know it sat for awhile. Our opinion: they need help with coordinating their servers....they have tables outside, inside front, and the back room It is too hard for them to keep their tables straight.
