Blue Moon Fish Co. Ratings and Reviews
We were harassed by the staff for having a tiny 6 lb. emotional support dog. We had all the appropriate documentation from the doctor and showed it to the waiter, but the management came over in the middle and then at the end to reprimand us for daring to hold the tiny Yorkie on the lap and demanded that we keep it on the floor. Meanwhile a huge german Shepard stayed on the floor at the next table, scaring the bejesus out of our dog. The management called it a genuine service dog, implying that our Yorkie and we were pretenders. While it is true that service dogs take care of people, it is also true that emotional support dogs take care of people by being helpless, forcing people to focus on the dog’s needs rather their own, diverting a human’s attention from what ails them toward therapeutic care of a helpless dog. Considering $100/person check for a small dinner, the owners and management ought to rethink their attitude, though we will never find this out. This was our last time there.
Love this restaurant. Great service and great food combined with a beautiful view next to the intracoastal. And surprise, surprise! You get two entrees for the price of one on the lunch menu with the purchase of a beverage Monday through Saturday. Quite the incentive to lunch there
There were four of us who ate dinner that evening. The server was polite but his section was sat all at one time, so we ordered an iced tea,Coke a Patron on the rocks and a beer . After he dropped the drinks and we immediately ordered a dozen Washington oysters and four jumbo stone crab appetizers. He disappeared for a while due to filled Section and returned once the appetizers were brought to the table. The oysters were warm to cool, they were not served cold . The $27 each Stone crab appetizers were subpar at best with an odor. We gained the attention of the server who was approaching the table until magician intervened and performed a 10 minute act . Once the magician left, we grabbed the waiter and ordered two grouper dinners, sea bass and the crispy snapper. 30 minutes passed and the Dinners were brought to the table. The two grouper dinners were overcooked, the snapper was over cooked as well and was accompanied by a putrid smell. The sea bass dinner was the most edible of the 3 dinners, on a scale of 1 to 10 it was a 3 tops. We requested the check which came to $381 and tipped the waiter 20%. My family eats out in Broward and Dade 5-7 times a week, our lifestyle provides this luxury. I have never authored a review of any establishment that I’ve eaten in, this is the first . I believe in providing everyone an opportunity for error, you order a dish, you do not care for the taste, disregard and notate this for next time. However when dinner costs $450 and you can’t get anything right there’s an issue. When the staff sees three dinners which have not been touched and dismisses an inquiry on “was everything OK?”. Its a problem. The closest I will come to this restaurant is when I pass it on Oakland Park.
My boyfriend and I had a flight delay and decided to have a nice meal. Blue Moon Fish Company took our last-minute reservation, sat us very quickly with our desired waterfront view. We both had delicious meals and perfectly made cocktails with a very romantic atmosphere. The waitstaff were attentive and efficient. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The table for 6 was outside against the glass wall. The area was very poorly lit and it was very difficult to read the menu. I was embarrassed as there were out of town guests. The waiter was not very attentive to our needs. The value for the amount of money spent was not there. Also never a reservation for over 4.
You can never go wrong here in choosing Blue Moon for seafood. It is always fresh and prepared with creative touches. That said, the food here is very costly, but the view of the intracoastal, combined with the food makes it an excellent choice for special occasions.
We dined on their patio overlooking the intracoastal waterway. The food was just perfect. The crabcake appetizer is delicious. Grouper stuffed with crabcake yummy. It was a great meal. Then, the chocolate cake was to die for. Fortunately, three of use, each with a spoon, scraped the plate clean. We've enjoyed a few meals at Blue Moon and intend on having it as part of our regular dining out restaurants we frequent.
The waiter does not follow up. I ordered 3 from menu. Only one cam out after 1 hour. Very poor service. The waiter keep on saying he ordered but nothing came out except for 1 scallop that I kept reminding him. Very poor service for very costly food. You need to change your waiter.
We were disappointed with what we thought was going to be an amazing dining experience. The shellfish was over cooked in the main dish that I ordered. The appetizer (lobster bisque) wasn’t as thick as I hoped it would be (on the watery side) & I didn’t feel like a valued patron. The presentation of the dishes was outstanding, but taste and overall experience left me disappointed.
Excellent food, the grouper was incredible as were the fire-cracker oysters. Second time we’ve had Ralph as a server...would definitely request him when we go back, he took great care of us and was so knowledgeable about the menu. He made it a great evening.
We are regulars of Blue Moon, but typically go at lunch time. Heidi, the hostess is a gem, so warm and welcoming. Our favorite waiter at Blue Moon is Ralph, he is so attentive and personable, he really makes our experience worth while every time we go to the facility and he is probably one of the reason why we keep going back. With this said, I was not aware that Ralph worked evening on our last visit, and we were assisted, by Josh. Josh was very pleasant, suggested wines and cocktails before dinner, gave us our space so we could have a drink and catch up for a moment before ordering our food. It was overall a great experience and Josh is definitely a great asset to the Blue Moon team.
