ALways a good place to get atmosphere and great food. My only complaint is the service. They pulled our plates away and I had food still in my hands and the place was not busy. Our credit cards sat on the table for over 10 minutes before someone picked them up.
WOW!!! Just WOW!!! Thank you to everyone at Blue Moon. From the host with the great inviting way about her; to the absolutely perfect meals, last night was a homerun!!!
Great ambiance. Quiet and comfortable. Food was great too as was the service.
Excellent meal with impeccable service. The winter salad was amazing. The chicken and dumplings was out of this world.
Every aspect of the meal, from great service and knowledgeable staff to hard to find liquor offerings to fantastic entries, is covered here. I haven't been disappointed yet in anything I've ordered. Keep up the great work, I love having dinner here!
Dining at Blue Moon Evolution is always a wonderful experience. Most recently I brought family members who were visiting from out of town. We all enjoyed our dinner a great deal. One comment describing the vegetables was "out of this world"! I never hesitate to take guests to Blue Moon Evolution, or to suggest the restaurant to others. We are so lucky to have this caliber of dining experience in Exeter!
The service and food are always excellent in a cozy environment!
Blue Moon Evolution could hold its own in a much larger, more competitive market than Exeter, NH - by which I mean cities like New Orleans, London, and Istanbul. This pocket of excellence hits every metric - food quality (locally sourced farm-to-table) - originality of cuisine - deliciousity - service (attentive without even a whiff of smarm) - and chic, understated environment. As a rule I do not tell friends about my favorite restaurants because I don't want them to become over-crowded but frankly not sharing this one would be too selfish even for me.
I love the variety of food they serve. The menu changes every night, which allows for a brand new experience every time you come. The service is awesome and is the environment. It is a very warm and inviting space to enjoy a great meal.
Food selection and quality were excellent. The staff was extremely efficient and...happy!
A wonderful meal with family and friends! Everything we had from drinks (beet infused tequila? Sign me up!) to the autumn salads, to the mussels, to the pork belly, to the cod with lentils were delicious! And service with Tim was attentive and warm! We will definitely be back next time in Exeter!
We love bringing friends or just the two is us over and over again. From the quality of food to wine and cocktail selection to always-friendly service, this restaurant is a rare find and one of our North Shore favorites.
Excellent experience for a girls night out. Food was delicious, music was enjoyable, service was delightful. Will return!
We always have an outstanding meal at Blue Moon Evolution, and the service is exceptional.
We have loved the Blue Moon for many many years. It is a wonderful special place to eat delicious local healthy food in a special atmosphere. The staff go out of their way to be personable and make you feel cared about and are always very attentive. They have greta vegetarian option as well as gluten free options too. You will feel like you had a special event and that you also loved your food and were good to your body.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time! And the cocktails are great too!
Ate here for our anniversary and although pricey, worth every penny!
Enjoyed the dining experience with my friends. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to returning.
Top Quality. Very interesting dishes. The food and service were superb. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere.
The chef is incredibly talented.
Everyone went out of their way to make our night out special.
Amazing food. You can keep it simple with steak or a burger, but they also have really unique dishes like the vegetable nori roll (raw vegan) or the butternut squash lasagna- both were excellent. We tried a cocktail as well which was delicious and didn’t skimp on alcohol. The inside has such nice soft lighting, beautiful antique furniture pieces, and our server was wonderful. It was a great night. Definitely try it out!!!
It rocked, mate.
Blue Moon Evolution never fails to satisfy! We were welcomed like old friends, the waitstaff was delightful and the food delicious. We were very pleased to bring some company from the west coast, and they were favorably impressed.
Very cozy with good healthy and tasty food. Loved the romantic music playing in the background. Service was excellent. A bit pricey, but certainly worth experiencing as a special night out. We traveled 40 min. to get there, and will certainly go back.
Our reservation was made late for the 9:00 pm dinner. When we got there we were informed that 50% of the mains were not available- understandable if it was one or two dishes but not 5!
Why accept the reservation request if you are out of food.
What we (family of four) ordered from the remaining dishes was less than satisfactory except for one.
Had heard only positive things about them but this was beyond disappointing.
Everything was great, aside from the scrod special which was a bit underwhleming. Beautiful, but the lavors were off.
Wonderful restaurant. Best I've been to in many years
My third time and still fabulous. Lunch and dinner and wonderful cocktails.
Just a fabulous place. Great meal always. The servers are always ready to help compliment a beverage to your dish and make it a fabulous meal.
Blue Moon Evolution is one of my favorite restaurants. Farm to table food is so fresh and delicious. I recommend it to everyone.
We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday. It was a "first" at Blue Moon for all four of us. We were very pleased. An outstanding dinner, a wonderful evening--thank you!
We enjoyed another great meal and drinks at the bar, well served by the creative mix-ologist, Gerome. We'll be back!
Fabulous food, service, ambience. Reasonable pricing Our waitress couldn't have been more inviting, bubbly, knowledgeable and attentive but not obtrusive.
The only negative was the tables in the middle of the room are too close to each other
We love this restaurant! Why can't all chefs come up with such flavorful combinations of ingredients!! And cook them to perfection! Alas, we will just have to settle for eating here when we are in the area...
Love this restaurant but really feel like the decor is dated and not in sync with their progressive menu. If they were to pivot from a colonial feeling dining room to a more natural, clean line aesthetic...it would attract a younger demographic that desires a conscious, farm to table offering that doesn’t feel so dated. Sunflower seed pâté is pure deliciousness. Love the support they are offering to the local food community
Blue Moon takes you to where real food shines inside and out! It’s ambiance and thoughtful service accent the flavor of this experience. It’s what nature intended for the body and soul.
TL;DR - Go to this restaurant. Great food. Good for gluten- and dairy-free. Good drinks. Impressive beer list. Worth the drive from Boston, or really anywhere in a 2-hour radius. Have an adventure!
My wife and I drove to up the Blue Moon Evolution in Exeter from Boston after work on my birthday. (n.b. - I didn't tell them it was my birthday, so I don't know if they do anything special.) While we would normally stick around closer to home on a weeknight, I wanted to do something special and adventurous, and Blue Moon's menu had caught my eye. They are a certified organic, certified farm-to-table restaurant, which means that their ingredients are of the highest quality that you can find, and our meals lived up to that expectation. My wife is also gluten-, grain-, and dairy-free, and the fact that she could eat a number of menu items as well as two desert items was a major find for us. A restaurant having these sorts of options for extreme dietary restrictions is a rare find, and one we'll remember.
To start, we had a charcuterie board with chicken and brisket rillettes along with a house goat cheese for me. They served us their homemade gluten-free bread, which was outstanding both in taste and texture. Their regular bread, which got to try, was also incredibly delicious. I also started with a spiced tequila mule that, while a bit sweeter than my typical taste, was dangerously drinkable and tasty.
For our mains, my wife had the pork chop, and I had the flank steak. Everything was absolutely delicious. Along with dinner, I enjoyed their take on an old fashioned, which was suitably stronger, but also nicely spiced.
Finally, for desert with had the delicious grain-free and vegan lemon tart, which was almost the taste texture of cheesecake. I also got a flight of port, which was my first real experience of port outside of the cheap $10 bottles from Trader Joes. This was real port, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to taste such a range of styles.
This place isn't for everyone. The ambiance screams(actually softly whispers as it's a quiet place) small, New England, liberal, quaint, specialty restaurant. The ingredients used were fresh and local, and the service was really good. However...
The charcuterie board was presented in a manner I've never seen. The meat was ground into a pate and while that's sometimes the case, it missed the mark. The cheese and sauces on the board were okay, but I really wasn't wowed.
The other orders at the table were:
cheeseburger - fine.
A Californian sandwich - okay. Again, the ingredients used were fresh, but it didn't stand out.
Pulled pork sandwich - the bbq sauce they made wasn't made particularly well. extremely disappointed.
I'm sure this place has a loyal following and I'm sure there are other things on the menu that might standout, but I'm being honestly and not trying to be critical. It's a place I doubt I would frequent again.
One of the diners did not like the spice rub used on the grilled pork meal. Otherwise a fine experience.
It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The food is amazing and it’s a 5-star experience!
This is a real gem. Food and service are fantastic.
