Everything was great, aside from the scrod special which was a bit underwhleming. Beautiful, but the lavors were off.
Wonderful restaurant. Best I've been to in many years
My third time and still fabulous. Lunch and dinner and wonderful cocktails.
Just a fabulous place. Great meal always. The servers are always ready to help compliment a beverage to your dish and make it a fabulous meal.
Blue Moon Evolution is one of my favorite restaurants. Farm to table food is so fresh and delicious. I recommend it to everyone.
We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday. It was a "first" at Blue Moon for all four of us. We were very pleased. An outstanding dinner, a wonderful evening--thank you!
We enjoyed another great meal and drinks at the bar, well served by the creative mix-ologist, Gerome. We'll be back!
Fabulous food, service, ambience. Reasonable pricing Our waitress couldn't have been more inviting, bubbly, knowledgeable and attentive but not obtrusive.
The only negative was the tables in the middle of the room are too close to each other
We love this restaurant! Why can't all chefs come up with such flavorful combinations of ingredients!! And cook them to perfection! Alas, we will just have to settle for eating here when we are in the area...
Love this restaurant but really feel like the decor is dated and not in sync with their progressive menu. If they were to pivot from a colonial feeling dining room to a more natural, clean line aesthetic...it would attract a younger demographic that desires a conscious, farm to table offering that doesn’t feel so dated. Sunflower seed pâté is pure deliciousness. Love the support they are offering to the local food community
Blue Moon takes you to where real food shines inside and out! It’s ambiance and thoughtful service accent the flavor of this experience. It’s what nature intended for the body and soul.
TL;DR - Go to this restaurant. Great food. Good for gluten- and dairy-free. Good drinks. Impressive beer list. Worth the drive from Boston, or really anywhere in a 2-hour radius. Have an adventure!
My wife and I drove to up the Blue Moon Evolution in Exeter from Boston after work on my birthday. (n.b. - I didn't tell them it was my birthday, so I don't know if they do anything special.) While we would normally stick around closer to home on a weeknight, I wanted to do something special and adventurous, and Blue Moon's menu had caught my eye. They are a certified organic, certified farm-to-table restaurant, which means that their ingredients are of the highest quality that you can find, and our meals lived up to that expectation. My wife is also gluten-, grain-, and dairy-free, and the fact that she could eat a number of menu items as well as two desert items was a major find for us. A restaurant having these sorts of options for extreme dietary restrictions is a rare find, and one we'll remember.
To start, we had a charcuterie board with chicken and brisket rillettes along with a house goat cheese for me. They served us their homemade gluten-free bread, which was outstanding both in taste and texture. Their regular bread, which got to try, was also incredibly delicious. I also started with a spiced tequila mule that, while a bit sweeter than my typical taste, was dangerously drinkable and tasty.
For our mains, my wife had the pork chop, and I had the flank steak. Everything was absolutely delicious. Along with dinner, I enjoyed their take on an old fashioned, which was suitably stronger, but also nicely spiced.
Finally, for desert with had the delicious grain-free and vegan lemon tart, which was almost the taste texture of cheesecake. I also got a flight of port, which was my first real experience of port outside of the cheap $10 bottles from Trader Joes. This was real port, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to taste such a range of styles.
This place isn't for everyone. The ambiance screams(actually softly whispers as it's a quiet place) small, New England, liberal, quaint, specialty restaurant. The ingredients used were fresh and local, and the service was really good. However...
The charcuterie board was presented in a manner I've never seen. The meat was ground into a pate and while that's sometimes the case, it missed the mark. The cheese and sauces on the board were okay, but I really wasn't wowed.
The other orders at the table were:
cheeseburger - fine.
A Californian sandwich - okay. Again, the ingredients used were fresh, but it didn't stand out.
Pulled pork sandwich - the bbq sauce they made wasn't made particularly well. extremely disappointed.
I'm sure this place has a loyal following and I'm sure there are other things on the menu that might standout, but I'm being honestly and not trying to be critical. It's a place I doubt I would frequent again.
One of the diners did not like the spice rub used on the grilled pork meal. Otherwise a fine experience.
It’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. The food is amazing and it’s a 5-star experience!
This is a real gem. Food and service are fantastic.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. The service was incredible, and the food was amazing. We appreciated the variety of gluten free and vegan selections offered on both the dinner and dessert menu. We will definitely be back!
Love Blue Moon...the food is delicious, the service first-rate. I *do* think the prices are a bit rich...$27 for a piece of cod on a bed of lentils?! The cod was delicious, but $27? All in all, however, love this restaurant and alway have an enjoyable experience.
Ryan made our slightly complicated schedule work. Very friendly reception. We had great vegan options and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Special hits were the vegan sushi and risotto : ) Service was great - thanks, Tim, and all who are making this gem of a restaurant, using locally sourced, organic ingredients and attentive to special food needs and choices. We'll be back!
Wonderful birthday meal and dessert! Everything was fresh and staff was friendly. Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful place! Amazing staff, super friendly and welcoming. Food was spectacular! Certainly would recommend and absolutely returning soon!
I like the food here very much. However, I do think for the prices they charge, the dishes could’ve just been a tiny bit larger. I ordered the veggie risotto, and it was delicious. However it was so tiny that I ended up having to nibble on everybody else’s on entrees. For a vegetarian main course it was quite small!! I’m a tiny person without a huge appetite, FYI. Everything else was great. Very friendly waiter, very good service, excellent desserts, bread, and salads.
Great food. Friendly atmosphere. A perfect place to celebrate any occasion.
Love this place. Really great and interesting cocktails. Menu is always updated and fresh.
We live within walking distance to Blue Moon and dine there at least once a month. It is our very favorite restaurant bar none.
This is my favorite restaurant! I have food allergy's and I am always surprised that I have so many options because their food is so clean. The energy of the wait staff adds to the total dining experience. It always amazes me this restaurant can pull off a great steak and a great vegan dish.
Everything they make is simply delicious!!
We were traveling through the area and went on the recommendation of a friend to celebrate a birthday. We couldn’t have been happier. Food was delicious service attentive and we were able to relax and enjoy our evening.
Great ambiance and menu. Delicious!
This was our second time eating at Blue Moon Evolution. It is pricey but absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and on point. If you have a special occasion coming up I would recommend this place.
One of the best restaurants in the region.
Superb as usual. Always great food, drink and waitstaff is wonderful and so attentive. Relaxing atmosphere
Delicious food; nice atmosphere; delightful wait staff
Blue Moon Evolution
First impression, location, location, location. It is such a cool looking place driving into the parking lot. It made you ask…Hmm what does it look like inside. It did not disappoint. Inside, it is warm and eclectic, one of a kind atmosphere.
Our server Tim had to be the easiest server to talk to. We quickly found we liked some of the same restaurants. Very personable and very likeable.
I want to get the only negative out now. I am a big meat and potatoes boy so for me the portions were small. HOWEVER I have never had flavors, spices and tastes like this ever and I have been around the world twice. (The French would be so proud of your French infusion. X Providence!)
Devil Eggs like you have never had before. I will leave it at that these are a must try.
The Ploughman’s Board Choice: This was a real surprise. The flavors of each items in its self were over the moon, but the way they all complemented each other was truly the gift. Ask Ryan for help. I have never had something this tasty like this in New Hampshire.
Entrees: My wife had the Duck. Outstanding and a very different presentation and spice blend. A must try.
I ordered the Chicken leg and Thigh. I never order chicken out because it is usually a breast and I am not a fan. This was unreal. The veggies were so perfectly cooked, the broth (to Irish = gravy) was rich in flavor but lite in its texture, perfect complement to the meat. The chicken was very tender. The spice blend in the skin was really special. I could have tackled the other leg and thigh too!
No room for desert, but they did look wonderful.
Tim the server spent a considerable amount of time chatting with us. Very pleasant and it added to the experience. Ryan came over and his knowledge of the cheeses and meats of the Ploughman was impressive.
The rest of the staff from the greeter to the bus people was very special.
Suggestion: TRY IT, you’ll enjoy it.
We had an amazing time! The food was delicious the staff super friendly and the wine list really appealing! Unfortunately we live in NYC so it be hard to be back anytime soon but wow!!
Your restaurant gets my vote for the most romantic spot in New England! Your staff upholds the most courteous, professional, attentive traits I've ever had at a restaurant. Your dinner menu is fabulous and the quality and presentation is impeccable! Our meal was fantastic and extremely tasty!! We will be back for sure!!
We come here often and find it to be one of the very best restaurants in an area that, including Portsmouth, has many very good restaurants. We usually order one of the specials, as they are always creative and delicious. The staff is friendly, non-intrusive, efficient and very knowledgable. Farm to table is the style with several dishes for folk who are vegetarians or vegan. The cocktail list is very original and creative. Though I usually have wine at other restaurants, I can't resist the Beatnik after Dark when I go to Blue Moon. It is delicious! Also try lunch.
The wait staff are amazing and so is the food.
Our waitress, Eva, was outstanding. She was a great conversationalist and was willing to go above and beyond to create a memorable meal for us during our honeymoon week. She also conspired with the bar tender to create a unique rhubarb drink when I asked if there was anything made with the fresh rhubarb she mentioned early on. We loved our meals as well. All of the flavors were bold and interesting, especially since the ingredients were so fresh. We can’t wait to make a trip up to NH again for another meal!
Mushroom pate was unexpectedly nice and the service most excellent. Fish cooked perfectly. A bit pricey - probably good choice for special occasions.
A new local favorite of mine. I liked the fact they had some vegan options that weren’t last minute ideas. Hopefully they will develop that side of the menu more. The service is great, and the staff seems to go above and beyond. The facelift they gave the restaurant has certainly added to the ambience.
