Blue Marlin Ratings and Reviews
We've been to Blue Marlin before for dinner with friends and it was excellent. This time, we met friends for lunch/brunch. The place was packed and I was glad to have reservations. Service was slow but our server was pleasant and helpful. Our shrimp appetizer was wonderful. I ordered Crabcake Benedict as it was listed as one of the day's specials. Eggs were decidedly overdone. I sent it back, and eggs remained overdone. Disappointing since this was a special. The oysters and parmesan encrusted catch were wonderful. Spinach and mushroom ravioli was tasty but sauce seemed a bit heavy. Manager was very responsive to our concerns and that was much appreciated. We'll go back, but, maybe avoid the Benedict.
Made reservations through OT, table for 6 was ready when we arrived 5 min prior to our reservation. Very impressive especially given the amount of people waiting at the door and bar. This is why I trust OT. Service was excellent, Ashton was attentive and professional. Food was also excellent, every item ordered was cooked perfectly, served at the right time and prepared specially for our table. A vibrant atmosphere, loud, not a conversational dinner in the dining room, it just depends on the atmosphere you are seeking. There is also outdoor seating that may be a bit more suited to talk. Overall great evening, thank you Blue Marlin, we will be back on our next visit to USC.
Visiting our daughter for parents weekend from Chicago. Overall a good experience. Appetizer plate was very tasty especially the firecracker shrimp. Crab cake disappointing due to an over abundance of breading. For entrees, the tuna and salmon were very good but the Ponchertrain fish dish was average at best and not recommended. Very good server.
Excellent service, excellent food at a reasonable price. My only drawback was the noise level that was distracting and degraded experience. I continue to search for a nice restaurant where I may enjoy a great dinner and intimate conversation with close friends. It appears to be increasingly hard to find the right ambiance.
My wife and I ate there with a niece for supper on a Tuesday evening. This was our first visit to Columbia & they were not very busy. We had a wonderful meal, drinks & a short walk around the area. We would all recommend this restaurant/bar to anyone whom asks.
Excellent food and excellent service! I had the cajun-style grilled catfish and grits with collard greens as a side. So good with just a little bite to it. Make sure to squeeze fresh lemon juice from the provided lemon half all over your entree. You won’t regret it!
We waited for table outside; only about 20 minutes.
(we were early for our reservation anyhow)
Staff were all very pleasant, Ethan our waiter was prompt, gracious and very efficient. He gave us great recommendations that did not disappoint.
Crab cakes and fried green tomatoes were great!
We all had the special: bacon wrapped filet mignon with crab and shrimp. Excellent choices! So nice to experience southern hospitality in a beautiful setting along with some good food and wine!
My husband and i ventured out in to Columbia for the evening for his birthday and decided to try out Blue Marlin, and we were so glad that we did! The food was phenomenal, the service was even better. I believe our server's name was Ashton, and she was not only pleasant while also being super busy, she was helpful with every aspect of our experience! She answered out chain of questions, and was able to joke and cut up with us at the end! We had a wonderful time and the food was fantastic!
We celebrated a birthday. Waitress was attentive without hovering. She made excellent suggestions when appropriate. Food came quickly but we didn't feel rushed. Everything was delicious, well presented. Portions were ample without being enormous. We truly enjoyed our experience.
We were looking forward to an anniversary dinner at The Blue Marlin. The hostess led us to a table next to a screaming toddler. Even the hostess was embarrassed, and took us to a quieter table at our request. The restaurant had lots of empty tables. Before we could look over the menu, the waitress wanted us to order appetizers. We ordered drinks and entrees. The food was delivered very quickly and was well prepared and very tasty. We just felt very rushed.
Long wait time for anyone to acknowledge we were sitting down. After that, it was good, food was warm not hot. Wine menu price was not what was charged so menu needs updating.
Anyway, this was odd as usually a really great experience in every way, so will feel this a fluke.
Oh, the she crab was outstanding, as usual!
