Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. Low Country cuisine brings all of this food together in a sumptuous array of unique and distinctive dishes.
The server Ashton was courteous, professional and attentive. The ceasar salad was mediocre but the calamari was the best I have had; fried to perfection.
Good food from appetizers to dessert. We had 4 courses. Good energy
The server was awesome! She told us about app opportunities that we did not know existed. She checked on us in a reasonable amount of time and was very polite. I have no complaints
This is the first time that the service has been a bit off. Food selections were not correct for several in the party but corrections were made. One item was taken off the bill because was never received.
Food was very good, although my salad was a bit skimpy....it was Restaurant Week so I don't know if they cut on portions. Waitress was a bit rude...when asked for our dessert, which was taking a long time, she told me "You have to be patient"! When I told her we had a 7:30 show, she told be "everyone in here has a show to go to"! She blamed the cook for the delay. Just stuff you don't want to hear! The atmosphere is noisy. BUT, location is great and the food was good... tad pricey but good. Probably a place for a younger crowd (than me...in our 60's). I would recommend this restaurant to a younger person.
Wonderful, as usual!!!
Steak was a good cut and was cooked to the requested temperature but it was far too underseasoned. For the money paid I could have done better.
Very nice Sunday afternoon dinner. Wife had Salmon and it was great. I had NY Strip and it was a bit tough. Very good service. Overall a very nice meal.
Had a very nice dinner here on a typical Saturday night. Our waitress was very nice. Food was definitely good. Will return!
Food is FANTASTIC but such a noise level you really can't have a conversation.
Excellent package menus for restaurant week. Entree service was a bit slow but the restaurant was completely full and the staff was very busy. The she-crab soup and shrip & grits appetizers were some of the best in South Carolina.
Overall: a worthwhile experience!
Really enjoyed specials on the menu. A bit pricey for lunch but good quality food. Wish they had more cocktail options.
Great experience! Food was excellent and our server Emily was outstanding.
We were so excited to finally try Blue Marlin during restaurant week. And my husband loved his food (fried flounder with grits and slaw). Unfortunately, my salmon was cold and undercooked with too much cheese sauce and non-blackened “blackened” scallops and shrimp. The salads were delicious, but again we disagreed on the quality of dessert -my husband’s creme brûlée cheesecake good, but my chocolate blowout cold and mediocre at best. We noticed many people had ordered fried food not on the restaurant week menu, so perhaps Blue Marlin is best for strictly southern comfort food. But then, it seems quite overpriced (maybe due to the location in the Vista?). At that price point, I’ll take my business to one of the other delicious restaurants in Columbia.
Had a wonderful experience at the Blue Marlin! The lunch prices were great and the food was cooked perfectly. We will definitely come back the next time we are in Columbia!
Great location, really good food, outstanding service and atmosphere in a beautiful building. right outside the door parking and easy access back to main downtown roads with lights at the intersection. Not a bad choice if you are in the Vista area.
Originally set our group of 4 at a table for 2 and beside the kitchen door. They did move us to a bigger table after complaining. The restaurant was so noisy it was hard to have a conversation. Food was good though and the waiter was good.
A bit too noisy for my taste. Service was excellent and the food was good. The drinks were very weak.
Real good food and great service. Will return soon
Food and service great. Negatives - very noisy, parking difficult
Some of the food was cold at serving especially the vegetables. That’s the downside.
Outstanding food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend
I have loved dining at the Blue Marlin and look forward to it each time. Our visit on New Years Eve was disappointing for all of our party of six. I had Salmon Pontchartrain which is always good this time it was fair, the green beans hard and boring and the crab cakes very boring due to no taste. My wifes mashed potatoes did not have a taste to them once again very boring. My friend had the Shrimp and Grits and another friend Fire Cracker flounder. No one was pleased with the meal, nothing to want to come back to.
Excellent service on New Years Eve. Great Food. Great Service.
The Blue Marlin is an ideal restaurant for casual dinners, relaxing atmosphere, exquisite menu, and delicious cocktails. Enjoyed every minute of my time there. The Blue Marlin will become one of my favorite go to places!
Always enjoy our times at Blue Marlin. Excellent food
Excellent food, well prepared and service was outstanding!
This is our every Sunday after church place. Always a wonderful experience.
Great Atmosphere. Food was cold when it first arrived but the waitress corrected it quickly.
We hadn’t visited Columbia for a while and wanted a special place since we were only there two nights. The sampler appetizer platter was good enough to be a meal and was plenty for the 3 of us. We loved the shrimp and grits and salmon entrees. We were too full for dessert. After living in Carmel and Monterey, California, we’ve had some amazing dinners and this was right up there with our favorites!
Outstanding as usual!
we have eaten there a lot i was unhappy my husband chicken was stuff my crab cakes were cold and the rice was crunchy that is the first my sister gave us a 75 dollar gift card i sure she would be upset with that
Outstanding service and great food for a good price. Delicious shrimp and grits and the gumbo was awesome!
It’s been a tradition to have Christmas Eve lunch at The Blue Marlin. Unfortunately, my crab cake was cold. The shrimp and grits were very good so that made up for it a little.....
Overall a very pleasant experience for our first time. Server was ok could be more attentive. We recently moved to the area from So. Calif and have been enjoying trying new restaurants in Columbia. We’ll be back.
Was very good food and waitress was wonderful. Only downside was the noise level. Very noisy and hard to talk to entire table.
Our server Lauren was da bomb! The food came out in perfect timing, even though there was a large party before us. My wife's self proclaimed new "favorite" restaurant! My reservation at Blue Marlin made me fell like the "King" of date night! Thanks again for a wonderful first time experience! We will be back!!!
I enjoyed myself and the food. Our server was great, she really made us feel comfortable and welcomed.
She was timely but not pushy. She kept and eye on our table. we did not want for anything. I am lookin forward to returning with my family. Hopefully for a special ocasion.
Our waitress Molly was great. She made sure are steaks came out perfect and always near by incase we needed something else. We loved her recommendations on the food and drinks. Definitely be coming back again.
Food was excellent. Service very good.
Comfortable. It was loud.
