Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. Low Country cuisine brings all of this food together in a sumptuous array of unique and distinctive dishes.
The spinach crab dip was not good and bread and pita was stale. Fish was over cooked. Sides are very simple mashed potatoes and green beans. Not a restaurant for a foodie. Nothing special.
Great service, food and atmosphere.
Went right to our table when we arrived. Didn’t get booth as requested, but the place was packed. Service was great. Very attentive staff without being intrusive. Food was delicious, as expected. Good variety of entrees with local flavor and sources.
Steak was an inferior piece of meat but the resturant was nice enough not to charge me for it. Just order seafood here.
Only drawback was the hostess who was very inattentive and very disengaged.
Enjoyed visiting wih my fellow classmates. The meal was delicious, bread fabulous, and the She crab soup outstanding! The wait staff were very accomodating. Will be back to this great spot! I think I surprised John I... by remembering who he was!
The shrimp and grits is so good. Service is always timely and friendly.
The food was really good, bloody Mary was good, and the service was outstanding.
Wonderful, interesting menu. Great service. A bit pricey, but worth it.
Dimes at this restaurant after the USC vs A&M game. We had 9:30 reservations and the place was still jumping. We were seated immediately and greeted by our wait person very quickly. We each tried a specialty cocktail and enjoyed all of them. It was restaurant week so 2 of us ordered from that menu while the other 2 ordered off the regular menu. The service and food was very good even though they were extremely busy and it was late. I would definitely dine here again upon future visits to Columbia.
Table was ready a very nice wait staffBut getting the food after placing the order was unusually long
Service was excellent. Helen was our server. Splurged on the 3-course dinner. Pecan trout was awesome as were the sweet mashed potatoes. Creamed corn was OK. Would have rather had a light veggie mix or something similar instead of the creamed corn. Husband's firecracker flounder was OK. He didn't like the grits but he liked the coleslaw. Sweet mashed potatoes would have been a good side. She crab soup was very good as was the pecan salad, but there needed to be more salad. Pumpkin cheesecake was delicious. Key lime pie was good but the crust was too thick. Would go back to the Blue Marlin.
This is a regular stop for us when we visit our son at USC. Food is consistently good and prices are reasonable. We sat outside with our dogs on the last few visits.
First time there in for the USC game. Food was tremendous and venue was very nice. The only negative was our server rushed us which is always problematic.
Poor service. Food cold
Came in from Texas to experience true S.Carolina food. It did not disappoint. The pimento cheese, crab cakes, she crab soup was excellent. The mahi-mahi Orleans 5star! Our waitress was so good at directing us to the best foods and was very attentive to our needs. Great restaurant! Take the time and experience it for yourself!
My husband and I love coming to Blue Marlin for date nights. The food is always delicious and service is always great.
Parent weekend at USC
Great meal & great attentive service. Will definitely go again!
We went after the Fort Jackson boot camp graduation and it was very nice! Food was excellent and service was good.
Steak was fantastic highly recommended
Food is delicious and atmosphere is lively. Staff is polite and patient, even with a very packed restaurant. Definitely recommend reservations and best to walk or uber as parking is a bit challenging...can be found but give yourself time to find a spot. Easy to drop off/pick up folks right on Lincoln.
We visited the Blue Marlin the last two times we were in Columbia. It’s out go-to spot even if we only have one evening in town.
Everything was top notch except the crabcakes. Then again where I come from in Maryland has the best crabcakes in the world. Loved the ambiance. Our waiter, a guy named Patrick was really good and he was friendly. I will definitely request his service next time I go there, which will be soon.
The service was fantastic. The food was just ok. For a $30 steak I would expect a little better quality and cooked correctly. My husband ordered a ribeye cooked medium and it came out almost gray in the middle. The cut wasn’t fantastic. My she crab soup wasn’t great and was served Luke warm at best. We’ve had better meals here before, so we won’t give up all together, just not one of the best.
The service and food was great. Was a little loud but we sat close to bar. Will definitely go back!
No complaints at all. Bread to die for, crab cakes delicious, fried shrimp great, and finally baked salmon that was huge and wonderful.
Would highly recommend, but be sure and book your table before going since it stays busy. We used Opentable on the Blue Marlin website and it worked beautifully.
Will definitely be returning.
Excellent food ;highly competent waitstaff. She crab soup is excellent as was the shrimp and grits. I have eaten here for years and never disappointed. If you visit don’t forget to ask for the complimentary collard greens. I have brought guests here and they rave about the food.
Their prices at lunch are very reasonable. My wife had the Shrimp & Grits and as a native Carolina girl, she knows her S&G! She didn’t rate them the very best she’d ever had, but certainly right up there. I had the Firecracker Flounder. It was nicely seasoned and lightly fried. Very good. Mine came with collards. I’m a West Coast Guy, so had almost no experience with collard greens. I shared with my wife and we both thoroughly enjoyed them. We finished with sharing a piece of key lime pie. Just tart enough to be truly good. Overall a great experience. I highly recommend the Blue Marlin.
Service and combo appetizer plate was great, but the food was not up to its usual par this time. :( Had six people in my party, and 4 of 6 were disappointed. Off night for the kitchen I guess.
Enjoyed the restaurant, limited seating for large parties though.
Food was very good and the service met my expectations.
Service was original slow. Fried platter was horrible. Fries were cold and shrimp and fish were fried in old burned oil. The crabcake was thick, burnt and full of meal. Needless to say that was the first and last visit.
Paul our waiter was the best. The Mahi that was ordered by two of us was dry, the crab cakes needed more crab. The appetizers tasted the best along with the Lime Mule and the Pineapple Martini
The salmon was fabulous. Their gluten-free dinner menu doesn’t exist (we were handed a lunch menu and told to ask about dinner offerings). Made a reservation via OpenTable, but they still required me to call back to confirm. We were celebrating, so the noise was tolerable. However, it is louder than I prefer (and this was for an early reservation of 5:30).
The service was good and it was a lively scene, however not the best for a date night. It was so loud, we could barely hear ourselves speak. My husband’s steak was good but overpriced. My shrimp and fries were extremely greasy unfortunately.... I couldn’t finish it. The pineapple vodka drink was probably the highlight of my night. It was pretty tasty. Overall decent dining experience, but I would not go back for a date night.
We enjoyed our meal- no further commentsxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The service and food was outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant.
I went here twice in one week - once with just my daughter, and once with a group of 9 - both times the food and service were excellent. Prior to that I had been there three times, and the same can be said. We even added to our party size at the last minute when we went with 9 people and although I was worried they would not accommodate the last minute change, it was not a problem at all! The service was very good and the menu was good for a variety of people with different dietary restrictions.
