Blue Marlin Ratings and Reviews
I took my wfe here. Because she loves seafood , so I made it our Valentine's date dinner. But VERY DISAPPOINTED for the service there. First, after we were seated Our waitness came 15mins later. We got a drinks 10 mins after requested water. Our waitness cater more to the table after us. Not asking us we needed anything else. I need more water and never got it. Just NOT A GOOD experience from BLUE MARLIN. The servers need to work together It makes the environment better for the customers and the servers and the kitchen as a WHOLE.
Tried Blue Marlin for first time. Made reservation on Open Table and was glad we did based on the crowd and wait. Seated immediately in nice booth by window. Server was very helpful and had good recommendations regarding menu. We ordered the crab cake and it did not disappoint. We ordered steak and seafood mains. We ordered the steak medium and it came out jerky well done. Both server and manager immediately rectified and offered a salad to fill the timr it took to correct the order. The manager stood at the kitchen and made sure the correction was top priority. We enjoyed speaking with him after he delivered a perfectly prepared medium steak. It was very refreshing to receive the type of service so lacking everywhere today. We highly recommend Blue Marlin to anyone dining out in Columbia. Only wish they would have shared that a house secret is unlimited collard greens. We swapped out mashed potatoes for them on one entree. We are not from the South but can share we have been to plenty of authentic Southern restaurants and none prepare greens like Blue Marlin. Worthy of a meal all by themselves.
Excellent, attentive staff. Delicious food...when we arrived (had a reservation) we were seated at a table near the bar. I'm a big man and it was a little bit of a tight fit. Our waitress immediately took notice and re-seated us- much better! REALLY appreciated it. A+ experience...one small quibble. Our wine was delicious- $8 a glass....fair price, I thought, for so tasty a wine. I decided to research it because we were thinking of buying a bottle for home...$10 a bottle. Come on now.... :)
Blue Marlin was an excellent choice for Valentine’s Day. The atmosphere was nice, the waiter was very helpful, and the food tasted amazing. I even received a beautiful carnation. The only down side to the night was this very loud obnoxious woman laughing a few tables away.
As always, Blue Marlin was fantastic. One of my top three choices in the entire Columbia area. Took my wife for Valentines Day lunch and were seated right away thanks to my open table reservation. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food arrived promptly and was delicious as always. Make sure you ask for the complimentary collard greens. They are fantastic.
We were attending a conference and heard some other participants talking about the Blue Marlin. We booked a reservation online and we fully enjoyed the atmosphere, food and especially the great waiter, Cody. He was knowledgeable and welcoming. He made sure we were taken care of even thought he had a large group to take care of at the same time. We will be back for another conferand will plan on eating all evening meals at the Blue Marlin as well as bring more associates with us. Great place, great food and great staff. Thanks you!
We were visiting the Columbia area, and wanted to try a local seafood restaurant. The prices were a little high for everyday dining, but it was definitely worth it! The service was impeccable, food was delicious, and portions exceeded expectations. This is a great place to go for a special occasion, and I will definitely go again when in the area!
We dined tonight for my dads birthday....we had a really good time. The food was wonderful as always and our waiter Chelsea was OUTSTANDING. I have been to Blue Marlin many times and the service is always great but she was WONDERFUL.... attentive and quite pleasant to have as a waiter. We thoroughly enjoyed her!
I usually love crab cakes, but those served here were mostly filler and just so-so. My son had the salmon and he liked it but it wasn't among his favorites either. The grit cakes were yummy. We were also sitting at a table where we felt the frigid outside weather come pouring in every time a diner came in or out. Our waitress, Stephanie, was exceptional and the prices were very reasonable. Blue Marlin would not be my choice of restaurants to return to when visiting Columbia.
We had an early reservation as we were going to a basketball game that evening. We had the calamari and gumbo which were both good. My friend had the chicken Cobb salad which he said was tasty, and I had the blt salad. I had to ask for bacon as there was none on the salad! I thought the salads were overpriced for the size.
I absolutely love The Blue Marlin. We traveled from Overseas to celebrate our son in the military and they welcomed us with great customer service. The staff made sure they accommodated our party of ten. We ordered different entrees so that we can try a little bit of everything and everything we ordered was DELICIOUS. I’m a foodie and this one is definitely our family favorite. Thank you The Blue Marlin for making our dining experience a great one.
Overall not a bad experience I felt very rushed by the server who seemed more ready to send us on our way and get another table in then to make us feel comfortable the noise level was very high and a bit cramped on space the portions the food for the price was extraordinary The Taste was okay but could have used a bit more wow factor and although primarily a seafood restaurant some more options for those that do not eat seafood would have been nice
SUNDAY BRUNCH. CRAB CAKE WAS TASTY BUT TOO MUCH BREAD (SO NOT LIKE ONE GETS AT THE SHORE). CHICKEN WITH BISCUITS, GRAVY AND COLLARD GREENS (GOOD!!) WAS JUICY. SIDE SPICY SLAW WAS GOOD TOO. GOOD SELECTION OF WINES BY THE GLASS. WAITSTAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL.
We fully enjoyed our meal here. The mahi was delicious, our waitress was attentive. My only complaint is we were seated 20-25 minutes after our reservation time and we arrived 15 minutes early... overall we would be back if in the area again (we are from out of town).
It was my wife's birthday dinner. We do not get out often with three kids so this was supposed to be a special treat. Calamari appetizer was overcooked and rubbery. My wife was unable to eat the shrimp and grits due to amount of hot spices that it had in it and she normally enjoys spicy food. The seafood platter was decent but there was more breading than anything else.
I know this is one of the premier restaurants in Columbia, but this was the second time I have dined there and I have been disappointed both times. Granted the first time was roughly 20 years ago but ... fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me ... there wont be a third time.
