Blue Marlin Ratings and Reviews
Food was good. Hannah our server was extremely attentive. Two negative issues. First, we were seated in a booth right next to the restrooms. That would have been tolerable except that at shift change the new bartender loosened his belt and pulled down his pants in order to tuck his shirt in. This happened right in front of our booth. An otherwise great meal knocked down a few notches due to the ambiance...
Blue Marlin has been a Columbia favorite of ours since they first opened 25 years ago. It's amazing that this establishment has maintained the highest level of quality all these years as other restaurants have come and gone. Our meal this week confirmed that this restaurant uses the very best ingredients and pays unbelievable attention to detail. Our server, Jarvis, was polite, informative and attentive. The petit filet special with shrimp and crabmeat was perfectly done and extremely tender. My wife's shrimp and grits (their signature dish) beats anything found in the low country where we live. The Blue Marlin will continue to be our go-to restaurant when we visit Columbia.
We went for New Year's Eve. We had reservations so we were seated immediately. Obviously they were trying to hurry b/c our entree came about 2 minutes after our soups and salads which made us feel like we had to hurry. There were only two of us and we were in and out in about 75 minutes. Would have like to have had more time there and enjoyed our time but with the food coming out right on top of each other we felt like we were being hurried out of there. We do love this restaurant and will come back-maybe not on a holiday night.
We had such a good experience at Blue Marlin on New Year's Eve. Food was excellent and the service was phenomenal. The waitstaff was so helpful and accommodating to requests and questions. Truly a great place to go for a special occasion. The food was fabulous as well!
The restaurant was entirely to loud with obnoxious people. It was hard to talk during my dinner due to all the noise. Also the waiter was not attentive to us.
We ordered an appetizer and it came the same time as our dinner. Totally annoyed with that. If I going to come to your restaurant and pay a high price then I expect better service and to not leave with a headache from listening to loud people.
I will say that the food was great though.
We really enjoyed our evening there-- the food and the service were excellent. It was noisy, but since it was the evening before the USC winter graduation, that was to be expected. I wish the server had acknowleged it was our anniversary-- we had put that on our reservation, and it would have enhanced the experience.
I was in town for my son's graduation from USC. There were six of us dining and we all had separate dishes that were incredible. I had Salmon topped with Shrimp and Scallops topped with a wonderful cream sauce. My son had one of the specials. It was Swordfish encrusted with Pumpkin seed or something like that. So creative. So tasty. All the meals ordered were fantastic.
The restaurant location is in town, so have some change in hand for the meters, there is very affordable Public parking nearby. My vey first impression was not the best, did not feel vey welcme, perhaps it was because i had arrived about an hour before my resevation time. However, the restaurant was nice and clean, the waiter was vey professional and friendly and the food was vey good, i would deffinitely go back.
