Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. 28th Wedding Anniversary dinner fell flat. Best part of the meal was the Ahi Tuna Appetizer which was fabulous!
We went out for seafood - specifically to have seafood. Unfortunately they didn't offer lobster, oysters on the half shell, or shrimp cocktail with the steaks etc. Most of the items was fried with a limited selection of main seafood entrees offering only Tilpia, Shrimp and crab cakes for the main event.
Very disappointed with the experience considering the price.
Food was so delicious, wait staff were all extremely polite, professional, helpful, and efficient. My scallop linguini is what dreams are made of! We will definitely be going back and highly recommend!
Fun place but average food
For a seafood restaurant the fish was not great - should be super fresh and clean. Servers were overwhelmed and seemed annoyed when we asked for things. Super expensive so should be over the top quality.
Food was cold and the place was just far too loud.
A friend and I met for lunch. Excellent food as always! I definitely recommend the crab cake; my friend had a beautiful salad with grilled salmon. We love the pimento cheese spread. We'll definitely be back!
Wait staff was some of the best I've seen lately. Found that I enjoy my experience more than normal.
Shrimp and Grits was disappointing- they said they were fresh shrimp but I think they were farm raised and very small.
Could not have been nicer. Great place for a delicious lunch in an atmosphere that allowed for good friends to talk and catch up!!
Hostess wasn’t very friendly but we had a VERY nice waitress. I didn’t like the smoking or the lack of masks, made my family and me very uncomfortable
I've been going to Blue Marlin since the 1980s and I've never had a bad meal there always Superior meals in every way.
The service was the problem. In this time when Covid-19 is ramped and we’re trying to get our lives back we decided to go to Blue Marlin for lunch our server was a male in his 20’s. He walked up to our table and started talking to us. His mask was hanging under his nose and when his chin would move the mask would come down under his lips. I was afraid to drink my water as he was talking to another table as he was delivering our drinks. He took our order in sections so he came to our table multiple times. Finally a manager came by and took our payment after I told her about our experience. Said she appreciated my telling her and would get him another mask. We just can’t go back out to eat again any time soon. The manager should have seen his mask. We shouldn’t have had to go through that and not enjoy eating out. It has been months since we have been there. Managers should watch your employees! We shouldn’t have to go through that!
Very good food, attentive service...
Nice place, great vibe, lots of energy, food was well prepared, attractive and delicious. Had a wonderful time. Great place for a dinner date!
We were traveling to visit with family in the Columbia area
Birthday lunch for my daughter. Sat outside and was very nice service and the food was great.
Blue Marlin was EXCELLENT!The service was OUTSTANDING! And yes the staff was fully masked.
Great outdoor dining with fabulous food
Blue Marlin is an established restaurant in downtown Columbia. The shrimp and grits were really delicious. The crab dip does not have much crab - spinach is the dominant flavor.
My family and I had a fantastic evening.
The presentation was 6 Star!
The food was off the charts!!!
The service was poor, unexpected and disappointing.
I did not have a very good experience at the Blue Marlin restaurant. First, I made reservations for a particular time and I was sat right near the restrooms in the bar area - you could even hear the sound of the toilets flushing, which was not very appealing while planning to dine. I was moved to another seating area, however my experience was not improved. Our entrees were carried by a different waiter to another table. As he asked questions as to if the party ordered those particular entrees and they declined, we watched him take the entrees back to the kitchen. A few minutes later, our waitress bought our entrees to us. As we tasted our entrees, we noticed that they were not hot but rather cold. Letting the waitress know the issue with our entrees, she took our plates back to the kitchen. As our entrees were fried seafood platters, I asked if new fresh dishes could be prepared - knowing that rewarmed seafood is not very appetizing. I would expect this to be a normal procedure in such a restaurant as the Blue Marlin. However, I was sadly mistaken. Our entrees were returned hot but they were the same original dishes - having been rewarmed. I saw the same piece of fried crab cake that I had cut prior to letting the waitress know of the issue.
1) Our server had her mask below her nose!! :(
She said because she was sweating and it slipped down.
Not true..... she had it like that the entire time!!!
My group was not happy about it.
2) I ordered a side salad, to come before my entree..... did it?
No, it came out with everyone's entrees.
3) She did not bring enough bread the first time for our entire party.
Our group comes once a month and we were not as pleased today as we usually are.
Service could have been better. Wasn’t asked if we needed another drink. Had to find server for check & to go boxes. Never could, had to get another server to find ours & still had to wait.
Another excellent dinning experience at Blue Marlin.
I picked Blue Marlin because last time we ate there (over 1 year ago) the food and service was fantastic! This time was our 39 anniversary and we thought of Blue Marlin! I ordered the Mahi w/green beans and mash potatoes and my wife ordered the crab cakes w/rice and green beans. The green beans, rice and mash potatoes were lukewarm at best! The crab cakes were mushy rather than crab lumps and the Mahi was extremely salty and barely warm. The service was good unfortunately our server had too many tables at one time! We were disappointed
Slow service and super busy.
We have eaten here often. Food wasn’t the best.
Shrimp and Grits is the best. Really a great place.
Very good meal as always - nice selection of specials. They conformed well to the social diaranxjnf
Even though we ate outside, our waitress was very attentive and helpful and friendly. Weather was nice but the flies were annoying.
We sat at the bar after giving our reserve table to an elderly couple. The gentleman was in a wheelchair. The Emily’s at the bar were great. The food was Meh ...The pimento cheese was not very good, the shrimp was not local, the crabcakes were quite good. The colors were too salty. You need to take that down a notch . We will be back, we had a lovely lunch there in May.
Slow service and one meal was cold and the other over cooked.
It’s always a wonderful dinner at Blue Marlin. I had the shrimp & grits, which was not only delicious but was enough to have take-home! Service with a smile!
Great food, excellent service, and our food came out very quickly. Very enjoyable first visit, and we will definitely be back!
Felt comfortable with outside dining and spacing during this pandemic. katie, our server was sweet and came back often to check on us.
Excellent ambience and delicious entrees. Servers were friendly and responsive
The abundance of shady, widely separated tables on the front walkway patio was impressive. The food, as it always has been, was delicious and the service attentive!
The server didn't come to check on our table. I had to wave him down for all my refills and even had to stop him to ask him if he had forgotten about us. The establishment was not at all busy at the time of our dinner.
Great food as always and waitress was very nice! Place felt safe and extra clean! Will be back soon!
We had the salad and soup. The gumbo is delicious and the crab salad is also delicious. Service was great. Just a good experiencd
