The hostess and waitress were very sweet and accommodating. The food was excellent, cooked exactly the way we ordered and very tasty. We had the blackened salmon, which was cooked beautifully and quite flavorful, and the seafood platter. The platter was very generously proportioned and crisply fried. We very much enjoyed it. It is a bit pricey, but the quality makes up for it.
We had lunch and it was delicious! You got a lot of food for the price. I will definitely eat here again.
Food was not up to its usual standards
Server not friendly. She brought main courses a few minutes after salads- no room / not ready. Even though it came too soon, food was cold and improperly cooked. I won’t go back. This place has really gone down hill.
My husband and I had a very nice dinner. He had shrimp and grits and I had a steak. Definitely will be going back.
It was as good as always. Molly is the BEST waitress!
Overall not impressed. We were seated by the bar and it was quite cold on top of being very loud. Waitress was very nice and service was adequate but the food was average at best. She crab soup was some of the worst I've had in South Carolina and the food was forgettable. Flavors and presentation blah. Not likely to return.
Always great food!
The filet wasn’t cooked to the temp I asked and had a bad gas taste.
I love the food and the friendliness of staff
We had a greet evening. The service was excellent and the ambiance perfect. We took off one star on the food because one of the steaks was undercooked ( quickly remedied however) and no one seemed to like the green beans..... they needed flavor. ( all had different meals with those as a side)
We had been looking forward to our anniversary dinner. I was especially looking forward to a good steak. Unfortunately my steak was not cooked how I asked and also tasted burnt, so I had to send it back to the kitchen, buy this point I did not want anything else on the menu and it ruined what was supposed to be a nice meal. The server and manager did however give us a free desert and apologise.
Great food, great service and great value for the amount of food
Food was superb and waitress, Sarah was fantastic!
Great food and service , Blue Marlin is a treasure
Great food. Temperature was cold inside so take a jacket.
We had a great experience. The only thing that kept me from giving a 5 of 5 for the food was that I ordered the salmon rare, and it was a little overcooked. Still tasted fine, but I prefer rare.
Everything was nice and the food & service was good.
The only issue with the visit was that we made a reservation and we got (in my opinion) the worst seat in the restaurant which was the booth behind the bar next to the restroom. The next time I make a reservation, i will specify to sit somewhere other than that.
I am a young adult that used to work in the food and beverage industry for quite some time at a five star restaurant. Just because I was younger they assumed it would be acceptable to seat my other half and I right by the busy loud door. I brushed it off, but then it took about 15 minutes to order our drink and almost 20 to even ask for an appetizer. I ordered appetizers and it took even longer to get it to us. The manager luckily took it off our bill. Our food took longer than I wanted to as well. I had to ask everytime I wanted a refill on a drink. Also if you want to have a conversation in there you have to scream across the table. Overall, what I paid was not acceptable for that terrible service.
Everything we ordered was delicious. My salmon had a great
Before Alan Jackson concert
Service wasn’t that good at all. Server took huge gaps in between check ups, didn’t even tell us his name. Other than the server, everything else was fine, even being put next to the kitchen.
We were meeting some family to go to the Van Gogh Exhibit. Will definitely come again.
Loved our evening out. Our server was attentive and courteous and our food was outstanding, as always!
I love the atmosphere and service Blue Marlin has. Always great service and food.
Steals were grizzly, veggies hard. Salad was good but not great.
Had some issues with the food...wrong sidedishes delivered with one meal, cold crabcakes, cold mashed potatoes. Problems were remedied immediately upon bringing to attention of waiter and manager. 6pm is prime time for dinner so we shouldn't have had cold food.
Our server was great and our service was quick. Meals were prepared exactly as requested. Would definitely recommend for a date night.
It was New Years Eve so I do want to give them a little slack, but after our food was delivered, we did not have anyone check back with us or refill our waters/ask if we wanted additional drinks. The food was better than average but I don’t know if I would order the same again (Salmon Ponchetrain) The pimento cheese appetizer was excellent.
The waiter was very accommodating when I asked to switch the grits with garlic mash potatoes however there wasn’t a hint of garlic in them. They were rather bland. The tilapia was also very bland. In the shrimp and crab sauce I had 1 piece of shrimp. My husband’s Caesar salad was so drenched in dressing he couldn’t eat it. I picked through it. This is the second time we have gone recently and the food was marginal at best. Was hoping for a great New Year’s eve dinner but was sadly disappointed. Brought the majority of my dinner home and no one wants to eat the left overs🙁
Excellent lunch and service. A favorite place for lunch or dinner. The quality standard for food, presentation, service and efficiency can be found at Blue Marlin in Columbia.
Best place for lunch in Columbia. I guess it wasn't the regular staff since it was the day before a holiday but the food is great.
Service was mediocre and the food was bland and served cold, which was disappointing.
The food and drink were not up to Blue Marlin standards.
The ambiance was nice. My food could have been better. I ordered a ribeye and they came back to tell me that they had run out. I had the collards which had alot of vinegar. My mashed potatoes were bland. My shrimp was good as well as the cheesecake. I also enjoyed the crab cake. Our server was the best.
I partially messed up my experience because I'm not a fan of grits. We ordered an appetizer of shrimp and grits (which was good), but I ordered the "Blue Marlin Award Winning Shrimp & Grits" and all I saw was the "blue marlin", I was expecting there to be swordfish steaks on my plate. I did not read the menu closely and when I gave the entree order I basically ordered a double-size plate of the stuff. I was not happy of the result. Shame on me!!
So while I wasn't able to gauge more of the food offerings, that fault should not be imposed on the rating. At any rate, my wife ordered the chicken pasta. That was really good! (making my poor decision all the more burdensome) The sauce was tasty, the chicken was cooked with a delectable tenderness, the pasta was also prepared just right, and the compliment of the bacon and veges made this dish delicious. I only had a few fork-fulls, but the sight alone (which was visually appealing) made me regret my decision. We ordered the blackout cake and keylime pie. The cake was GOOD while the pie was overwhelming. Big slice!
Other aspects of the experience, we witnessed two servers basically "fight" over us. One server came to us in the beginning to get us drinks, before that one came back another one said that "I'll be taking care of you guys for the evening," and we just repeated our drink orders. The second one came back with a couple waters and then the first one appears, they seem to have an awkward moment there, we all looked at each other, their exchange of glances settled that the first would continue to be our server. Odd experience.
The ambiance and decor were not noteworthy. The bar seemed to have a more refined modeling than the rest of the dining area. I noticed that for a name of "blue marlin", I saw only 1 fish mounted and I had to look to find it. Our drinks were prepared well, but were not noteworthy either. Pricing and entree size were average for the level of dining.
we had a party of 6 .One person did not get their steak until everyone else was finished.
the server did not check with anybody to see if their steak were cooked correctly.
Our guest most enjoyed the experience,as did we. Without a question we will be back.
