They have added spice to the she crab soup. I loved it the way it was. Don't like the new recipe. Should give customers a choice.
Food was excellent! The waitress was fabulous--very professional and fantastic service from her. She was very attentive and provided everything in a timely manner. We enjoyed the fellowship and never felt rushed,
I had the fried seafood platter with flounder, shrimp, a crab cake, mashed potatoes and tortilla slaw. It was delicious.
All of our food was cold. Had to send it back. By the time we got our food we weren’t all that hungry any longer. $146 wasted.
Very nice setting. Excellent service and food quality.
Great food! Service was Great!
Restaurant was bustling. Service was great even though very crowded. We had reservations and got seated right away, but in a table next to the door and the bar on a cold, rainy night with many people standing right by the table. Cold and drafty with wet coats and umbrellas nearby. Lots of talking by bar patrons within a couple of feet of our table.
Food very good (crab cakes and seafood platter) but both of us commented that while warm, it wasn't as hot as it should be.
The bathrooms could use a good cleaning and supplies
Service was great. We had a reservation and the only waiting was waiting to get through the crowd to tell them we were here. They did a great job with the others and quickly getting tables for them.
This was my 2and visit, and although I enjoyed myself, the food was not as graat as my first time. However my server Simone was outstanding, and knowledgeable of the entire menu, she was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal. I will be back again ,very soon.
We had a table of 6. 5 meals came out. Did waiter even notice we were missing a meal??? We finally had to ask for the 6th meal. It finally arrived about 10 minutes after inquiring about it. Other 5 had cooled off by then, but no one complained.
Great visit every time. Little obnoxious and inconsiderate birthday group beside us but other than that it was wonderful as always.
Our server was fantastic and the food was well proportioned and reasonably priced. Drinks were great! Definitely a great first visit & will be back!
We enjoyed our selves the food was spot on and the restaurant is in a great location downtown area.
Visiting USC and went to Blue Marlin for dinner - it was wonderful! The food was delicious and the service very outstanding. Loved having a booth. Highly recommend the pimento cheese appetizer, she crab soup and the chocolate cake dessert (double wow for the cake). Definitely a must if you’re in Columbia!
Very good good and vibe.
Love the shrimp and grits
Blue Marlin never disappoints! Great again. We had appetizers & entrees. The food came out in good time at the right temperature. Our server was there for us, but didn't hover. Great job!
Ran out of three things we had ordered and were notified 10-15 minutes after the fact... steak, chocolate cake, and mahi. Temperature almost too warm with the number of people in the place. We like the restaurant a lot, but it did not seem as great on this visit.
We love Blue Marlin, however, four of us were a bit disappointed
with the meal. The waiter was great. We were celebrating my daughter's 21st birthday and she, myself and my son ordered filets and were told you were out of them. We substituted a ribeye instead which was not nearly as good. Then my daughter's boyfriend ordered the mahi mahi and the waiter delivered salmon instead and told him they also ran out of that. He accepted the salmon but it would have been nice if he'd been given an option. It was very crowded that evening and there were a couple of large parties. The waiter brought our drinks out in a timely fashion but the food took an hour which I thought was excessive. We've always had an excellent experience in the past and we will definitely return. I was just a little disappointed with the meal considering the occasion and that my husband spent $275 on a meal that four of us did not want.
It may have been all the recommendations, but I expected more/better. There was nothing wrong. I can now say that I have been to the Blue Marlin, but I am not sure that I need to return any time soon. There are so many other restaurants to try in the area.
Collards weren’t cooked as normal
Very crowded, which affected the food delivery. Apps were comped which helped. Not a great experience.
Very busy. Kitchen clearly overwhelmed, so it took a long time to get food. Food was great once it arrived. Service was great.
The Blue Marlin is a very special place for my husband and I. We had our first date here on 12/19/09. We have been back several times since then, coming from Atlanta, and will continue to come back for the wonderful food and service.
Very busy on Friday 02/07/2020. Food was good but Crab cakes were dry and fried fish was a little cold.
The food was very good and the service was too. We were having a birthday celebration and we enjoyed our visit.
Family in town!
The historic building and decor provide a great ambiance--excellent seafood and steak complimented by delicious martinis!
Matt was our server and was amazing!
Very good seafood, menu has a lot to choose from. Priced right for what you are getting. Service was great
Service and food were average. Our server stated they had a large “take out order” that backed up the kitchen.
Our food as such came out cold or slightly over cooked. Below expectations for the price.
Very disappointed. We use to visit often and we were looking forward to dinner after returning to SC for a visit. The noise level was ridiculous. They had inserted a table in the middle of the floor and the waitress kept bumping into us because there was no room to move. The people at that table were loud and did nothing to keep their chairs pulled in. We couldn't even get out of our booth! The waitress was great and I felt very bad for her trying to navigate that mess they set up. Greed trumps service in this case. Will not be going back.
Good service and food was good for the price. I’ve been there several times.
A wonderful setting with a a menu for all tastes. It was a busy night, but service and food was outstanding. We'll be back.
My wife and I were in town for the Jason Aldean concert and wanted to go to a restaurant near the venue and our hotel before the event. I checked out the Blue Marlin on Yelp and based on the reviews there decided to try the Blue Marlin. We were not disappointed, I had the Mini Shrimp and Grits as an appetizer, it was delicious. For a main course I had the Crab Cakes and my wife had the special, filet topped with shrimp and crab meat. Both entrees were great. The only thing I could find fault with was that the food could have been a little hotter. Other than that, the service was great, cocktails were very good and the value I received exceededmy expectations. I would definitely return.
Very good food. Service was just a bit slow to get started but it was very busy.
My wife and I reallyenjoyed our meal. We had the breaded grits with crawfish for an appetizer which was fantastic. We both had seafood, Salmon Ponchartrain and Mahi Orleans both highly recommended!
Completely too loud to enjoy the dining experience - we could not have a conversation.. Had reservations and first table was at bar next to bathroom. Table area reeked of bathroom smell. Requested to move after initial seating.
Overall not a good dining experience.
Lunch with family and friends. Our waitress did a great job of not rushing us throughout the meal, which was very much appreciated.
Everything came out within 5 minutes. Crab cake, cup of gumbo and salad came out together. Less than 5 minutes later entrees came out. No room on table for two. Food placed in warmer until we were done with the fist items. Seafood over cooked and just blah. The server was nice but the kitchen was terrable.
