Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. Low Country cuisine brings all of this food together in a sumptuous array of unique and distinctive dishes.

I’m always surprised by how unappealing shrimp & grits looks, and yet tastes sublime. Blue Marlin’s was very flavorful and not over cooked. The bartender’s America Mule was the best I’ve had in a long time. Nice assortment of locals and tourists, which I did not expect on a weekend night in a downtown location.
Fantastic food andservice
We were celebrating my son’s 20th birthday, and we had an excellent meal! The server was very attentive and the food was outstanding. Best crab cakes and grits ever. We will be back!
We did not have a good experience. First the good stuff. The scallops were outstanding, truly excellent. Service was slow at first, but then after 30 minutes, was very, very good. Nice wine choices. Crab dip was excellent. Now for the issues. Three of us had crab cakes. None of us finished them. They were 99% grainy filler, will very little crab. Like a frozen dinner entree from a generic store brand. Not good. No premium seafood restaurant would serve these. The bread was borderline, not very warm, a bit on the dry side. The Cobb salad was not as good as a Wendy's salad, very mundane, and the grilled shrimp on top were not fresh. And perhaps I am being a bit picky, but the booth seating was uncomfortably soft. So, overall, a big disappointment. This is not a premium restaurant. There are much better choices.
Kurt was top notch! Excellent food and service!
Server was great! We visited your city and my husband had to have your shrimp and grits again
The food was good and reasonably priced. I ordered my blackened fish spicy and the waitress mentioned that if I really wanted it spicy I should order it double blackened, so I did. It was good but not at all spicy in comparison to what I am used to. But I am not from the area, so perhaps it is regional taste preferences. The other food was tasty, but nothing stood out as exceptional.
Great food, service & atmosphere. We were in town for short period but would have loved to return.
Great food and great service
Food was great! Server was amazing! Great Mother’s Day dinner!
We had a fantastic experience, as always. However, I have one suggestion for the manager. A table (on the patio) brought two small dogs, a water bowl and a dog crate and shared food from the table. I'm a dog lover, but they don't belong in restaurants, especially restaurants of this caliber. I appreciate your need to accommodate and serve customers, but you went too far on this one.
Was not a big fan of their cold slaw, however beyond that I would be hard pressed to find anything negative about the experience. Service, cocktails, appetizer, meal, and desert were top notch and I was pleasantly surprised at their prices for such quality.
Outstanding! We went on one of the busiest days of the year, Mother's Day. Although the restaurant was filled to capacity inside and out, our service was impeccable, our waitress was friendly and she made sure we were taken care of throughout the entire meal. The food was amazing! Fresh, perfectly prepared and mouthwatering. Our expectation was that all of this goodness was going to cost a pretty penny - but the prices were extremely reasonable, especially for the amount of food we got. We all drove 2 hours to meet at the Blue Marlin and we would do it again any time.
Great place to celebrate Mother's Day. Food, service and pricing were outstanding.
Our Mother's Day lunch was fabulous as always! Our server was the best we ever had!
Blue Marlin’s food was wonderful and the service by the staff and waitress was professional and great. I recommend trying Blue Marlin.
Graduation lunch . They were wonderful all around but especially because they accommodated my family , party of 8 , very last minute after having been sold out for months. We had to sit at two tables but they were right next to each other! My son really wanted to try this restaurant before he left college! Well worth it!
We went to the Blue Marlin for lunch after the USC graduation. Our server was very informative and made suggestions as needed. He stopped by often to check on us, but not so often that it was disruptive. The food was delicious. I had the blackened Salmon Charleston cooked to a perfect medium. Since it was lunch, the meals were very reasonably priced and the portions were large. We brought doggie bags with us since we could not finish it all.
It was a treat for all of us after a beautiful graduation! It helped make my daughter's day extra special.
Food is delicious. Shrimp and grits is a must try! We went during graduation, so it was noisy but other than that, AWESOME place!
Our first time at blue Marlin. We went for lunch before my daughters graduation and it was the best meal we have had in Columbia in the 4 years my daughter has been at usc. Food was very good and very reasonably priced. I had the flounder it was excellent and a good portion. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals. The only downside was we didn’t discover this place when our daughter was a freshman.
Comfortable atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food
Excellent meal! Calamari was the best we've ever had! Filet mignon perfectly cooked, swordfish special excellent..food and service exceptional! Never felt rushed even though graduation day..will miss Columbia :(
One of my favorite dining spots for after-hours and dining spots. Never disappoints!
This was my first time with my family an it was horrible
Order the salmon!
The food servers are very mannerly and respectful!
we were extremely pleased with the service and quality of food. We would highly recommend this restaurant to others.
Great food and service. We celebrated my wife’s birthday and the evening couldn’t have been better. We’ll be back soon!
We actually ended up sitting at the bar. Penek, the bartender was very attentive. We had a wonderful experience.
Great food and service. A favorite for many years now.
Sat on the patio with a large group. Food was excellent, fun vibe, good service!
Friendly service and the food was delicious as always.
My wife and I were in Columbia, SC, for business. We decided to try The Blue Marlin because we both enjoy seafood and as well as steak. The service was excellent. Helen, our server, was prompt, engaging and knowledgeable. She checked on us at all the right times. Our entrees came out at the same time. My wife’s salmon with scallops and grits was superb. I was served a small, lopsided fat-filled, tough piece of meat being passed off as filet mignon. When I cut into the piece, only fat bubbled up from the cut. Helen was there when I cut open my ‘fillet’ and was aghast. She immediately asked if I wanted a different cut, I immediately said yes. The second fillet was excellent. I got no apologies from management and ended up finishing my meal after my wife. We were disappointed because The Blue Marlin really has a nice feel and ambience to it. I would consider going back in the future to give them another chance.
Everything we ordered from Filet from dinner menu to salmon from lunch menu were all wonderful and service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items!
Everything was perfect
We ordered swordfish and ribeye. Food is typically consistent. The only drawback is that our medium rare ribeye steak was marbled (which we like) but hard to chew and had a little more gristle than we prefer. I would suggest making sure steak is tender.
The swordfish was very good and tender, and the restaurant offers a lot of side options
Great atmosphere and night life spot in downtown. Great and knowledgeable staff.
Everything was wonderful. Ribeye steak was perfectly cooked. Waitstaff was awesome!
Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!
All was good, the fried shrimp and great, but the salmon was not warm, when brought back it was but not tasty.
