Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. Low Country cuisine brings all of this food together in a sumptuous array of unique and distinctive dishes.
Excellent service and outstanding food excellent dining experience.
Restaurant was empty
It was early
They could have easily given us a 4 top
Great food and service. Blue Marlin is a reliable choice for lunch or dinner.
It has been awhile since I have been here and I don't know why! I guess because there are so many good restaurants in the Columbia area it is hard to fixate on just one. Great problem to have. The service and food were great and I love the décor of the old train station. The only complaint anyone could have is that it is a little noisy. Not so loud that it hurts your ears but it does take away from the ambiance. And certainly not enough to keep me from going back real soon.
We really like the Blue Marlin, food is good, service was exact. I guess the only negative was the noise level. Very loud, difficult to have a conversation.
We went before the Elton John concert with my parents and 8 year-old daughter. Everything was perfect! My favorite thing on the menu is a lunch item (crab cake burger with a fried green tomato and goat cheese.) I live out of town, so I don’t get a chance to get to Columbia during lunch hours very often. I was so very happy that the waiter was able to let me order it for dinner. My mom tried it, and LOVED it, too. THANK YOU Blue Marlin for going above and beyond! I will definitely come back!
Very busy night, but the staff and kitchen never missed a beat. Food was fabulous and service terrific. We will definitely go back!
Anniversary for my mom
Everything was awesome! Loved everything especially the fried green tomatoes and grits!
Everything went well except the server forgot to order our fried green tomatoes until our meal was served and we reminded her.
Arrived at 4:15 for our 4:30 reservation. They placed a large group (12) of people between the booths on each side. It was extremely noisy, crowded. Our waiter tried his best to get to us however the crowd between prevented him from properly taking care of us. Our food was cold, my mahi was burnt n dry. Three of the littlest shrimp on top. Ordered desert. The restaurant comp' d my desert because of bad meal. We had friends in from Alaska n wanted to show them a relaxing evening. Not happening. We could not hear each other.
Great place will go again. Great location and good value
Crab soup and gumbo both delicious, fried oysters and salmon entrees also great. The back out cakes was great to share. We also loved the cherry sunrise cocktail!
I would recommend them. Just not on a busy night. Our food was cold. Our waiter wasn't very attentive and larger parties were catered to over everyone else.
We always love eating at Blue Marlin. The food is fantastic and the service is wonderful.
There was a party of 30 or more next to me and my husband table . It was so loud and our Waitress was not able to tend to us like she should of . It took over ten minutes to get our drink order and over 20 minutes to bring us fresh bread . I felt that if there was a party of that many people my husband and I should not have been placed in that section. We should have been place where we could of gotten the great service that large party received .
Food is always wonderful. Great location and fun area.
Had the tour of south appetizer and teriyaki salmon entree. Hubbie had Parmesan grouper and we agreed, this was the best tasting meal we’ve had since dining here for many years. Keep up the great work in kitchen and we will be bavk for more!
This was our second trip to the Blue Marlin and it didn't disappoint. The best thing we ate was the crab soup, just scrumptious. The tilapia with crab sauce was good and the fried green tomatoes were delicious too. Everything was served piping hot and fresh. A nice dinner.
My husband snd i both just had the gumbo, which we typically love, but monday night it was too spicy.
Collards delicious— better than anywhere else. She crab soup is very hard to find anywhere and theirs is delicious. All of the main dishes for our party were well prepared and tasty. Cheesecake was also a great way to finish off the dinner. And we also had wonderful service!
Consistently delicious food and good service. Parking is always a headache, but that’s to be expected for the Vista. Attentive service overall. Absolutely no complaints.
Attentive waitstaff. Delicious crab cake sandwich and shrimp and grits. Collards were also very good.
It was lovely and delicious!
Very happy with our experience!
It was fantastic as always, the food, our server Patrick was excellent.
Wonderful food and service. The server made good recommendations for food and wine pairing.
We went to celebrate my sister’s birthday for lunch. I made reservations, but we were still seated in the first booth by the door. It is typically loud here anyway, but that was a bit louder than I had preferred. Our main course was very good. No offer was made to do anything special for my sister’s birthday dessert (I denoted her birthday in the reservation and mentioned it again upon ordering). No candle- no nothing. That was disappointing for her. Also, the chocolate dessert was served cold. It would have been so much better warm with the ice cream. The server offered to and I quote, “scrape the ice cream off and throw it in the microwave”. Really? No. I doubt I’ll bring anyone here for a special occasion again, but the food is good. Maybe the staff just needs some more experience.
The BEST food, service, and dining atmosphere. My husband and I travel from Augusta, GA to enjoy the food. The shrimp and grits are our favorite dish! But, the seafood platter is also on the favorites list! We've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings at the Blue Marlin. We look forward to the next visit every time we head back to Augusta. This past visit, my husband enjoyed a long island ice tea with his meal; and, I had Malibu with pineapple juice. They were well made! You will be very pleased with the food, drinks, atmosphere, attentiveness, service and professionalism of the staff.
Great dinner and the food and setting were just right to celebrate my wife's birthday.
Was very loud but our server was exceptional.
Fish portions were smaller than all past experiences. All portions were smaller than all past experiences. Other than that, everything was excellent!
Excellent food and service. A little noisy for regular conversation, mostly due to a large party sat in the middle of the dining area.
Food was very good. Beautiful place and location. Service was spectacular. Our server was great to talk with provided some banter. Answered questions to help determine the best choice.
Very good! Our wait staff was willing to change my veggies and put herb butter on the side!
Awesome service! The table was ready for us a few mins before our reservation time! Highly recommend this restaurant!
Our parents were in town visiting and we chose somewhere they could get good food but it wasn’t so fancy they were uncomfortable as they aren’t fine dining kind of folks. The food was great (I had the Mahi and my husband had the scallops) and our server was very attentive. I would not hesitate to go back as everything was perfect! We felt completely comfortable in business casual but there were other folks there dressed up and they didn’t stick out.
If you are a seafood lover, this is the BEST place to go in Columbia, SC. You will not be disappointed. The crab and spinach fondue is a must try! Great food, excellent service. The outside patio is also great for selfies and every photographers go to spot for a photo shoot.
The food, value, atmosphere, and staff made for a great experience. Would strongly recommend.
The place was nice and the food was good - not great for the price. Service was excellent. It was loud. We put in the reservation that it was a birthday celebration and they did nothing.
