Stretching from Savannah to the South, and Georgetown to the North, the Low Country is resplendent with the bounties of the sea and coastal marshlands. Succulent shrimp, oysters, crabs, crawfish and catfish abound. Lush greens, corn, rice and ripe red tomatoes are plentiful. Low Country cuisine brings all of this food together in a sumptuous array of unique and distinctive dishes.

I was very disappointed in the way they handled social distancing. As we walked in at the time of our reservation, there was a crowd around the door waiting for tables. The bar area was completely filled with chairs side by side, only 1 chair had moved away to give her some space. Since our table wasn't ready we walked across the Restaurant to the other side door where we did not have to be so close to people. While they had spaced out people at tables, I was still surprised at how full the place was. It was concerning to us. The food and service were good as always.
Ema, was terrific‼️🥃😎👌🏼
Very good food and very friendly service.
Delightful restaurant! The pineapple martinis were wonderful!
Always a treat!
Met up with family and ended up visiting for 3 hours because the environment was so perfect. The food was also PERFECT!
They are doing a great job with the social distancing and service- Felt like the dish was just mediocre for the price but not bad. Too heavy on the dressing on my daughter salad-
Gumbo was perfect as always. Firecracker shrimp always a treat. The restaurant has taken effective measures to control things during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I made a reservation for my son's 20th birthday. We both ordered the blackened salmon for our meal, and the firecracker shrimp for an appetizer. They were both excellent. Our sides were grits and collards. The grits were amazing and the collards were good as well. We like our collards a bit more on the sweeter side. They are more "vinegar" flavored there at Blue Marlin. However, they were still good. I'm picky when it comes to sweet tea, but even their sweet tea was delicious! My son even received a complimentary dessert for his birthday. He chose the cheesecake. It was out of this world. Loved it! We will definitely be back.
Great as always
Good vibe and location in a neat part of town. Seafood was great along with calamari appetizer
My order was not prepared as ordered. The fish was either frozen or not cooked adequately for fried flounder and there was no seasoning on the fish.
It was a bad experience!
Not sure I could recommend it to some of my friends.
The Collard Greens appetizer was really good as was all the food. You really can't go wrong with any of the menu.
Blue Marlin does not require guests to wear masks. Over 35 people walked right next to our table unmasked during the 1 hour, 10 minutes We were seated
This is the only time We’ve dined inside in 4 Months and we really regretted doing so
Our waitress, Amy, was great. It was my wife's birthday and after basically being cooped up since April we decided to venture out. I ordered the oysters and 90% of my portion was about the size of my little fingers nail. They really looked like fried crumbs. My wife ordered the Vista chicken and her portion was a good serving, but unfortunately after several bites she discovered a hair that was about 7" long in her last bite! We let Amy, our waitress, know about the hair and the manager came over and apologized and comped my wife's meal. I never complained about my serving but I wished I had. Its a shame our 1st outing in over 4 months turned out like it did. It will be kind of tuff going back there, thinking about the long hair my wife pulled out of her mouth.
We went during the Covid outbreak and felt very safe at the Blue Marlin. They were following all the safety standards/precautions. It didn't interfere with their serve or quality of food. If anything, I felt they went over and beyond to make sure we were satisfied.
Our service was great and the food was delicious!
The food was great and the service was even better. You get a lot of food for your money.
Waiter was OK at first and then basically abandoned our table. We were not offered any bread but tables around us all were served bread. The food was delicious but service was very poor.
As always, Blue Marlin never fails! One of my favorite places to eat in Columbia!
Food and drinks great. Service great also. Only problem was we reserved a table for five and were seated at a small table for four with chair at end in walkwAy for fifth guest. Awkward for this guest and not enough room at table for food and drinks. Next time we bring five people we will reserve a table for eight to be sure we have room to be comfortable.
Also we were celebrating a birthday and our server asked him if he liked chocolate. We assumed that meant he was getting a complimentary dessert but we were surprised to see we were then billed for his dessert? He said he would have ordered something else if he knew he was being charged for it.
We will be back because we love your food but we will reserve a larger table in the future.
I live near the Blue Marlin, so I can meet friends for a casual lunch. You can eat inside or outside.
Sooo good! Best meal I've had in a very long time! Yummy!
I was with 4 others so a party of 5 we got Great friendly service and The food was wonderful!!!
We had a great time at the Blue Marlin! Food and wine were both great 😊
With the Pandemic everything was great including the staff and the server Matt. We started out with cocktails which were great and then our appetizer was the fried green tomatoes which by the way were the best I have ever had. My husband had the flounder, and the portions were huge. I had the shrimp and grits and both our meals were wonderful and enough to take home for a snack the next day. A nice addition to the table was fresh hot sourdough bread with ample amount of butter. All in all great food and would like to come back again when we can have regular service.
Our waiter Austin was very attentive and made sure we received what we needed.
We loved our outdoor dining experience at Blue Marlin! The salmon and steak were both delicious, and the server, JoJo, was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting outside and listening to the live music. The server wore a mask at all times, as this was during the pandemic. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back!
Always great food, excellent service (although cocktails always seem to take a while to arrive??). We ate outside, very pleasant and they appear very conscious of social-distancing.
EVERYTHING was delicious and the waitress was phenomenal.
Excellent service and great food! Perfect date night spot downtown.
From our server to our lunch everything was absolutely wonderful.
We usually get the grilled salmon for lunch, with grits & collard greens. Superb food and excellent service, always. Prices very reasonable. Now the portions seem even a little larger, which is very nice. Have also had the shrimp & grits and flounder. All excellent. Although we live in Charlotte, this is our favorite "go to" restaurant. Really glad they are still here.
My wife had a salmon dish, I had an oyster dish. Both meals were scrumptious! Our waiter was polite and attentive. Best meal we've had there.
The food and service were both great as usual. We love it here.
As always, The Blue Marlin did not disappoint. I had the Charleston salmon lightly blackened and my husband had the Charleston Crab cake. Sides were grits and collard greens. I always have a difficult time deciding between the two. Highly recommend dining here for lunch or dinner!
I reserved a table for my wife's birthday. I was told that she would receive a "memorable evening." Upon arrival, the restaurant was mostly empty. We were first shown a booth by the front door and hostess stand, rejected, then another by the kitchen, rejected, and finally one in the main dining room. The waiter brought our drinks (pricey) without a coaster or bar napkin so the drinks began to sweat. He then brought out our water without a coaster or bar napkin so that too began to sweat. We now have a table that's about 25% wet. No attempt was made to clean up the water. The she crab soup was brought out first and was good but very hot. The rest of our dinner was was brought out while we were still enjoying our soup. The main courses, fried oysters and scallops, were good but could have been hotter. No bread was served. We waited forever to order a second drink. Our waiter was seen talking with someone in the kitchen. There is no excuse for this type of service when the restaurant is trying to recover from the shut down and was mostly empty. We will not be coming back.
My wife and I were happy to support a local gem in the Vista. The low country seafood Blue Marlin prepares is always wonderful and the service was top notch.
I would encourage everyone in the Columbia SC area to support your local restaurants, especially those in our Vista.
Food was pretty good if you enjoy fried fish, shrimp, etc. could have improved the drinks a bit but people were really nice and the outside seating was really nice.
Daysia was our waitress. She is amazing! The food was wonderful as well (she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits). I cannot recommend Blue Marlin highly enough.
