Blue Iguana - Salt Lake City
Trained by the culinary artists of Chihuahua, our head chef, Chef Castillo, cooks up some of the most mouth-watering and unexpected Mexican cuisine outside of his homeland. After he learned closely guarded recipes created in the tradition of generations-old Aztec cuisine, Chef Castillo began applying these techniques to create everything from classic Mexican dishes to modern cuisine.
Our restaurant is warm, inviting, family-friendly, and full of energy. Dining at the Blue Iguana is more than a meal—it’s a journey back in time to the tastes and sounds of old-world Mexico.
We love coming to the Blue Iguana when we are in Salt Lake. The food and service is always excellent! I also love being able to make reservations online!
Service was slow...
Drinks were watered down; obviously sitting to long at the bar...
Party of six; meals were below average.
Took too long to order and get food. Waitress was not attentive.
Food was ok.
Red iguana way better.
They had a terrible mariachi band singing really loudly the entire time we were there.
Conversation was almost almost impossible
Our waitress was horrible got every single persons order wrong and was completely inattentive. We had to ask for our check twice and had to wait for 20 minutes before she brought it out. We asked for chips which she bought with our meal. Never refilled our water or a refill soda for my daughter
I ordered a white wine sangria margarita... I got a red wine margarita
My daughter ordered flour tortillas got corn. She also ordered a side of rice and beans which we had to ask for twice.
My boyfriends chicken chimchanga was soggy and had a weird sweet after taste.
Save your 75 bucks and go somewhere else
Friendly staff, fun atmosphere and great authentic food! Service was excellent and we had twenty people on separate tickets and they did not make a single mistake!
We love the Blue Iguana! The food is fabulous! My only complaint is the live music--the guitar player/singer. He is just so loud it can be difficult to carry on a conversation. I will ask if there is live music next time and go somewhere else if that is the case.
Everything was outstanding! My husband is quite the burritos snob but thought these were the best burritos he had ever tasted! The only sad part of the evening was my husband leaving my to go box on the table!
Everything was delicious and a fantastic selection of gluten free options!
Food was absolutely fantastic. Service was a little slow but was more than made up for by the food. Highly recommend.
Great vibe. Pretty good food. Will for sure go back.
Outside area comfortable and very peasant. Service was GREAT
Why wait for 2 hours ar Red iguana when the food is just as good at Blue Iguana and you can walk in
The food was decent, but not half as good as Red Iguana. The building was nice. The service was terrible. Our waitress took half of our drink order and then left without saying anything. She brought the wrong food out and argued about it. She did not refill our drinks even once. We will not be going back again.
As always the food is fantastic and authentic and the atmosphere is great, with one exception: the 80’s music must go!!! You should be playing something with a south of the border theme, not Madonna and Michael Jackson. This is only change required. Everything is top-notch!
Great food. Service was awesome. The temperature of the restaurant was really hot. Cozy restaurant. I would go back.
The food was wonderful the service was great and they really went the extra mile to take care of us mothers
Service was horrible. Food was decent but a little overpriced for the small amount or rice and beans some one gets.
Service was horrible. We had to ask someone to find our server so we could order drinks when we were waiting for our other two diners to arrive. And then she acted like it was an inconvenience to come to our table. She checked on us one during our entire stay. She never asked if we wanted another drink or even cam by to refill our waters. Except when she asked one of our party if she could take their plate when they were still eating. The food was okay but nothing I would jump at to have again. I would never come back there and I would never recommend to my friends to eat there.
Fun night out with the fam. Great food. Asked about the different mole’s they are famous for and they brought us a sampler plate to try. They were all great but the yellow was my favorite. Fun atmosphere. Love the patio.
Food was great. Ambiance was great. Service was timely but server had no personality and didn't seem to want to be there.
A great place for a large party. Service was fast and friendly and the food was great! The shrimp tacos were delicious and the enchiladas were great, too. A great mexican food choice in Salt Lake!
We may have been the louder group with 9, but no problems. Service was very fast and efficient. Food and drinks were great!
Good food and quick service. Mid afternoon on a Saturday so there was no crowd.
The food, service and ambiance was great. Most of us had the fajitas, different proteins, and we all enjoyed them. One had the pork carnitas and they were fabulous. All the meals were very filling and even had leftovers.
Fun atmosphere. Good quality. We enjoyed the authentic music and service.
I loved the authenticity of the restaurant. The live performers were doing an amazing job with spreading the culture through the the restaurant. I loved it
Seated right away (had reservation) Received food and drink quickly (party of 7) Everything tasted good.
Only negative - server never made mention of our "special occasion" which was noted on reservation.
