Met some friends there for Restaurant Week brunch. Overall, very nice ambiance and the food was very good. The bottomless mimosas for $9.99 was a good deal.

First, the place is dated beyond belief. I can see how when it first opened it was cutting edge, but it’s obvious nothing has been done upstairs in some time. The upstairs was empty for the most part with stacked furniture all over the back of the restaurant. The bathrooms smelled terrible and the space overall is right out of a bad 80’s video. With that being said, the atmosphere was by far not the worst part of brunch. The food took that prize.

For my first visit ever to this “restaurant,” I experienced brunch during the winter Restaurant Week. I was excited for the experience because I heard good things about the restaurant. After today, I can only imagine they were talking about a different place. First, the brunch menu online and the one we got today was very different. There were a number of items that are not available. Second, for them to say they are participating in Restaurant Week is a joke. The greasy menu we got that advertised 2 courses for $15.00 included the most unappetizing selections and was minimal at best. While I decided to stick with the regular menu, my friend chose to go with the 2 course meal.

I started with the crab dip and then ordered the Chesapeake Crab Benedict. The crab dip was pretty basic with cauliflower in it and came in a small bowl with 5 toasted Melba Toast. So much for sharing, I guess. The Chesapeake Crab Benedict is just offensive for a Maryland Restaurant. The moment the waiter put it in front of me, it was obvious they were once frozen patties. Really? It’s Maryland and they served me generic crab cakes! Needless to say it was awful! Another person in my party started with the Blue Cheese mussels; all 5 of them which came a huge water spotted, black pot with huge pieces of onion. The appetizer; however, wasn’t nearly as bad as the dried out veggie omelet. Do yourself a favor..skip this place!

Went solo to try out the restaurant week special. I sat at a bar table since the bar was packed and getting a table would take longer. Everything was great with the exception of everyone not solo getting more attention and faster service. I got there way before the couple next to me but they managed to get everything faster and more attention. I was actually forgotten about a few times, including when it came to silverware. I had to track someone down while my steak made me drool, I was almost tempted to use my bare hands. I get it a table of 1 isn’t going to tip as much as a table for 2. Probably won’t be dining solo at this restaurant again tho.

This is my second visit to Blue Hill. Prime time Saturday night with my son. Didn't realize it was restaurant week. They had a menu for it and that was our choice. Gnocchi with wild mushroom cream sauce was divine. Everything was cooked to perfection and the cocktails were good too. We'll be back!

My husband and I were pretty disappointed in our meal at Blue Hill Tavern. We both ordered red snapper, which was over cooked and a little tough. The accompanying cous cous on my plate was really undercooked, crunchy like barely cooked pasta. You could look at it and see it wasn't done. That's really amateur to not serve properly cooked cous cous. My husband's cous cous was fine so I'm not sure what happened with mine. The rest of the meal was okay, not great. We don't go out to dinner very often so this meal was a bit of a downer.

We went out with friends for New Year's Eve at Blue Hill Tavern and had a wonderful time. The ambiance was quietly elegant without being overly formal; the servers were attentive and prompt. Among the appetizer, my husband's fried calamari salad was a standout, and our friend enjoyed his mussels. My crispy escargots were good too, though I would have liked to have had more greens, and perhaps the amarillo sauce on the side rather than tossed with the snails. The entrees were delicious; my sous-vide rack of lamb was excellent, likewise my husband's sous-vide pork tenderloin, and our friends enjoyed their seafood risotto. For dessert, three of us opted for the key lime bar, which was delightful with a salted caramel drizzle--just the right touch of something sweet--and my husband also enjoyed his bread pudding. The Blue Hill Tavern never disappoints, and the New Year's Eve prix fixe menu, while not inexpensive, was surprisingly reasonable compared to many other options.

New Year’s Eve dinner. 3-course prix fix menu for $59.99 was worth every penny. Portions were perfect, and nothing left out for the price. Compared to other high-end restaurants on NYE, $59.99 for 3 courses was a steal. Our waiter was attentive and made solid recommendations. We will definitely be back.

Recently went here to celebrate my wife's birthday with friends. The service was up and down. The valet was extremely nice and customer service oriented. Our server was not that warm or personable. She had to be reminded about requests... she forgot at least one of our party member's drinks from the bar and she disappeared on us a few times when we needed her. The food was good. A couple people sent their food back for temperature issues, but overall no complaints. We weren't aware of the cake fee, which would have been close to $50 for our party, which should have probably been included with the 20% mandatory tip for the marginal service we received.

Maybe the best burger in Baltimore! Everything good there; good wait staff; valet appreciative - a hike from Ruxton but worth it.

I’ve been to this restaurant a dozen times, LOVE the food. However, the service here is what turns me off from this restaurant. The last 2 times I went the servers were not friendly and very dismissive. The waiter walked away while ordering food, gave us steaming hot plates in our hands with no warning, waiter acted as if she did not want to be there. Bad service takes away from the experience and feeling of a good time. I celebrated my graduation here and it was the final straw. I will not be dining in here at this restaurant anymore. I won’t spend my money at places in which the service is horrrible.

I've been here several times before with company functions and enjoy the food I've had before. I finally convinced my wife to come with me. She had the surf and turf(crab cake and steak) and was not a fan. The crab cake is full of filler items and salty. The steak was decent. I enjoy the pork and brussel sprouts but I'm a fan.

Side note: I believe valet parking is free. They'll just park your car in the parking lot in the Natty Boh Tower.

This was our second Thanksgiving Dinner at Blue Hill Tavern - Last year was on point (Food- Service- Ambiance) ... had an amazing time! this year we decided to go back but was not as good as last year ... despite Reservations made a week in advance they ran out of every Appetizer- Dessert we ordered and bread. It was disappointing to have to order a second choice and not be able to enjoy our first choices. They definitely fell short on the food availability, service was fine. We are regulars for Happy Hour - Dinner and have experienced New Years Dinner before which was great. However, we will not be going back next year for Thanksgiving.

We had dinner here on Thanksgiving. The food and the service were excellent but the noise level made it almost impossible to speak to the others at our table. Perhaps it was because there were so many people enjoying themselves. We have eaten here many times and I don’t ever remember it being that noisy. We will be back.

Did Mother's at the Tavern in May and was pleased! Decided to try Thanksgiving, Momma needs a break these days. Very pleased with everything! Also, our party included a 5 year old and a 20 month old. We were in the family section upstair and everyone was 'good' and we had a grand old time! Would definitely do it again!!

Typically a good experience. I thought our server was lacking in experience. She screwed up one of the meals. She'd been at Blue Hill for 3 months, but I am not sure she had a whole lot of experience before that.

The new menu is a good one. The food is consistently good.

Blue Hill Tavern shows the promise of very good local restaurant but fell a bit short. The room is pleasant and the wait staff were reasonably attentive. Wine list has some very nice options and is well priced. The menu has a number of attractive options and something for everyone. The food while good was nothing special. Given that we had two tables of 5 dining there was a good sampling of the menu. The sous vide meat options were apparently excellent, the appetizers a mixed bag, the vegetarian option fairly mediocre, and the deserts were solid. I would have probably gone 3.5 stars if that were an option. I’d give it second try to confirm but overall would say a solid good but not great.

We also noted in the reservation that it was a birthday, and our dessert was brought out with a candle so we could celebrate, but in a discreet way so the birthday boy was not embarrassed. Overall a pleasant experience. The Mushroom Wellington was very tasty, the huge portion of slightly cooked carrots was way too much. The Caesar salad was delicious as well as the grilled squid. The scallops were pretty good too. Two member at the table shared the chateaubriand and enjoyed it very well. The butternut squash soup was way too sweet, more like a dessert. We had a delicious wine too. The chocolate mousse was terrible. Where was the chocolate? We ordered one serving to split among 4 of us and did not finish it.

We had a large party of 15 for a Birthday brunch at the Blue Hill Tavern. Almost everyone in the party was from out of town. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. The food was exceptional. We had a private area upstairs in the restaurant. They offered bottomless mimosas and bloody marys for a set price with the meal. Since it was a birthday celebration we brought in a birthday cake. They had candles to add and we sang Happy Birthday and celebrated after brunch. Then the waiter cut the cake and served everyone. We could not have asked for a better experience. Just a tip about parking, if you go a couple of blocks away from the restaurant you will find parking. It is difficult to find parking right next to the restaurant. The prices were very reasonable! If you are looking for a nice place to eat, I highly recommend this restaurant!

I have always enjoyed a wonderful meal here and love that the menu changes seasonally. The duck empanadas are back and they are amazing as an appetizer. A couple of specials that change regularly are usually offered as well. The calamari salad is fantastic and melts in your mouth. Always a great choice as a lunch item or to share before dinner.
You can't go wrong with anything on the menu so try it all, such as the mushroom wellington or sous vide pork tenderloin. Love them both and always a tough choice.

A special note is that while we were there for dinner, the power flashed, then went out right as our meal was being served. The staff and restaurant couldn't have been more apologetic for the inconvenience as they had nothing to do with it. They brought more candles for the table and our server brought her cell phone and turned on the flashlight to provide more light for us to enjoy our meal. When she brought the bill, she also gave us a gift card for $25 and again apologized for the inconvenience. They could not have been more attentive and thoughtful during our time there and proves again why we go there regularly for a wonderful meal and even better service.

I had a wonderful birthday dinner there. They were able to accomodate 15 people at 1 table, and our waitress was attentive, professional, and fun. I received a complimentary dessert, which was outstanding. (a chocolate peanutbutter bar w a scoop of icecream and marshmallow). The only complaint is that we were not informed beforehand that the maximum credit cards they accept is 5 per check, and they do not split checks. That is important to know when you have a party of 15! Overall I had a lovely experience, and will recommend to family and friends.
