Had the Chateaubriand for 2 which is fairly hard to find. It was very good, but normally the staff plate the first dish, here they just put the entire large plate down and we had to do that (no bigge). I had the Cranberry Mule which was very watered down and not a great drink, my wife had a special Manhattan which was much better and stronger. The roasted Brussel sprouts were very good. Wait staff were attentive enough - this is my 3rd or so time here, will go back, it is a very nice place with good food in a nice neighborhood. Can get rather noisy near the bar or large tables as sound echoes - but that is a positive for some...
Very accommodating to our big group. Great price for bottomless mimosas, bloody mary's and sangria. Menu included breakfast and lunch menu.
This is my second time at the Blue Hill Tavern. We arrived for dinner a little early so we sat for a drink at the bar - bartender was cold and unresponsive - didn't know what that was all about as the bar was nearly empty. Seated for dinner, our waiter was friendly and courteous. I ordered the shrimp and grits, which was bland. My husband had a burger and he also commented it was fair at best.
I have wanted to try Blue Hill for quite sometime and it was worth the wait. Everything was amazing! The calamari was the best I have ever had, the cheese platter was huge, the oven roasted chicken was tender and delicious, the portions where so big we didn't have room for desert!
Our night at Blue Hill Tavern did not disappoint. All members of their staff were helpful, knowledgeable and kind and the food was delicious! We had their Guinness Cream of Crab Soup, Sous Vide Pork Tenderloin, Harvest Salad and Salmon. All dishes were perfectly cooked and exceeded all of our expectations! We will certainly be back!
I brought a group of 20 of my colleagues to Blue Hill for a dinner after a long day of meetings. We had one waiter who was fabulous. He had drinks in our hands very quickly, the appetizers cam out rather quickly and the main entrees all brought out in perfect timing with everything still hot. Special requests were followed through and the waiter handled everything as if he could do it in his sleep. We were all very impressed. The food was on point and our glasses remained filled. Portion sizes were great. We had a lot left overs to take home too.
Always a pleasure to dine here. We were celebrating a family occasion and each of us enjoyed our meals.
We selected Blue Tavern only because our other pick, we learned, was not open on that Sunday night. Decided to be adventurous and looked at open table for comp options. Great drink menu. Service was good - and they may have been a little more busy than expected (holiday weekend.) Food was good, but I'm extremely picky. Salmon was a little too done and the capers in the corn hash with the crab cake were a little overpowering. Still a fun night and enjoyed ourselves.
Wonderful as always. Best chopped salad in the area.
We had dinner at Blue Hill Tavern for a late Valentine's Day celebration. Our waiter was very nice and patient while I chose the perfect meal. Crab cake and Brussels sprouts were to die for!
Lamb chops were amazing!! Ambiance — A+!! We had such a great valentines day dinner!!
Very comfortable and great food.
My husband and I have been to this restaurant a total of five times and we're never disappointed. We always order the chateaubriand with a couple of sides--DELICIOUS and fairly priced. We look forward to our next visit!
always a pleasure to dine at the blue hill. we go here every valentines' day and it keeps getting better. Outstanding customer service, fast service, and great food. nice beer and wine selection too.
Unfortunately I felt like the steak I ordered was not as fresh as it should have been.
Goid food pushy waitperson
Went for brunch on recommendation. Staff, food, and value all excellent. Brett the owner came over to make sure we were happy and when we said it was our first visit he sent over complementary deserts
Average experience. Crab cake was sub par.
Great contemporary design/atmosphere. Awesome food and top notch service.
Enjoyable dining experience all round. Our server, Jake was excellent.
We had a great meal from start to finish. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Jon was a great server. We’ll definitely be back soon.
The food was great - no question really asked the simple question as was this good eating experience/ The answer is inequitably YES.
Great atmosphere and amazing food! I will definitely be back soon.
Our group of 8 ordered from main entrees menu and all our meals were expertly prepared and served. The only disappointmentioned was the Maryland Crab Soup . My husband did not get any crab meat at all in his soup, so he basically got " vegetable soup". Should he have sent this back to the kitchen?
Needless to say he was quite crabby about that!
Another great experience. Well paced meal with excellent service. Will defintely be back soon.
Excellent food and service. Creative entrees. Great salted caramel martini.
The service was prompt and friendly. The drinks and food well prepared and timely. I enjoyed my first time at Blue Hill Tavern and will soon be back for another enjoyable meal.
Good service from our waitress, she was well informed about the wine list and let my boyfriend sample a beer before ordering it. We came in for restaurant week and our courses came out pretty quickly. Appetizers were really great. My boyfriend got the steak and it was cooked perfectly and a great value for the restaurant week prices. I got the chicken and the flavors were nice but it tasted like a salt shaker had been dumped on top of my chicken. It was too salty to eat the crispy skin which was the main aspect of the dish.
Desserts were great, we'd definitely come back without restaurant week
Food was amazing! John was our server and he was great.
We went for brunch on Saturday during restaurant week. The place was packed! The food was delicious! Prices on the normal menu seemed a little high, but brunch was reasonably priced. My husband had mussels steamed in white wine and they were perfect. My duck gnocchi was a small portion, but so rich I don't think I could have eaten anymore. We went straight home for naps after a filling meal.
Excellent food, great service, really nice restaurant. Loved the steak, popcorn oysters and dessert.
The food was amazing, and our waitress surprised me with a birthday dessert. Great experience!
Food and service was great! The snapper was a little dry and under seasoned I didn’t order it my sister did. I will definitely be back
Very good experience - had the bronzino which was excellent as were the haricots verts that accompanied - pleasant, friendly server- very pleasant decor. In the winter there is a curtain across the front door but it should be checked regularly as cold air can get back to the rear easily
Very pleasant experience. The four of us had all different entres and they were all great.
Met some friends there for Restaurant Week brunch. Overall, very nice ambiance and the food was very good. The bottomless mimosas for $9.99 was a good deal.
First, the place is dated beyond belief. I can see how when it first opened it was cutting edge, but it’s obvious nothing has been done upstairs in some time. The upstairs was empty for the most part with stacked furniture all over the back of the restaurant. The bathrooms smelled terrible and the space overall is right out of a bad 80’s video. With that being said, the atmosphere was by far not the worst part of brunch. The food took that prize.
For my first visit ever to this “restaurant,” I experienced brunch during the winter Restaurant Week. I was excited for the experience because I heard good things about the restaurant. After today, I can only imagine they were talking about a different place. First, the brunch menu online and the one we got today was very different. There were a number of items that are not available. Second, for them to say they are participating in Restaurant Week is a joke. The greasy menu we got that advertised 2 courses for $15.00 included the most unappetizing selections and was minimal at best. While I decided to stick with the regular menu, my friend chose to go with the 2 course meal.
I started with the crab dip and then ordered the Chesapeake Crab Benedict. The crab dip was pretty basic with cauliflower in it and came in a small bowl with 5 toasted Melba Toast. So much for sharing, I guess. The Chesapeake Crab Benedict is just offensive for a Maryland Restaurant. The moment the waiter put it in front of me, it was obvious they were once frozen patties. Really? It’s Maryland and they served me generic crab cakes! Needless to say it was awful! Another person in my party started with the Blue Cheese mussels; all 5 of them which came a huge water spotted, black pot with huge pieces of onion. The appetizer; however, wasn’t nearly as bad as the dried out veggie omelet. Do yourself a favor..skip this place!
Went solo to try out the restaurant week special. I sat at a bar table since the bar was packed and getting a table would take longer. Everything was great with the exception of everyone not solo getting more attention and faster service. I got there way before the couple next to me but they managed to get everything faster and more attention. I was actually forgotten about a few times, including when it came to silverware. I had to track someone down while my steak made me drool, I was almost tempted to use my bare hands. I get it a table of 1 isn’t going to tip as much as a table for 2. Probably won’t be dining solo at this restaurant again tho.
This is my second visit to Blue Hill. Prime time Saturday night with my son. Didn't realize it was restaurant week. They had a menu for it and that was our choice. Gnocchi with wild mushroom cream sauce was divine. Everything was cooked to perfection and the cocktails were good too. We'll be back!
My husband and I were pretty disappointed in our meal at Blue Hill Tavern. We both ordered red snapper, which was over cooked and a little tough. The accompanying cous cous on my plate was really undercooked, crunchy like barely cooked pasta. You could look at it and see it wasn't done. That's really amateur to not serve properly cooked cous cous. My husband's cous cous was fine so I'm not sure what happened with mine. The rest of the meal was okay, not great. We don't go out to dinner very often so this meal was a bit of a downer.
