The food was a mixed bag. My king crab and corn chowder was excellent. My wife’s clam chowder was just ok. My fish over figs was a great combination of flavors, but the fish was not cooked properly. It was nice and firm except in the thicker parts where it was mushy. The sorbet and ice creams we had were excellent. My wife’s peppermint ice cream was outstanding. My pineapple-lime sorbet was very good and refreshing.
There are too many good restaurants in NYC for me to consider returning.
Wonderful breakfast. Pricey but worth it. A keeper.
Great spot for a good meal. In the center of time square. My friend had the Sushi and loved it. My Filter was over cooked but good besides that oversight. The mushrooms I got instead of the creamed spinach was amazing.
Lovely brunch before theater--- good and close to theaters. Nice addition to the area.
We arrived in NYC on Saturday morning and were looking for a brunch spot. This was one of the only places that had a last minute booking availability. It's a gem tucked in Timesquare and I'm so glad we found it. The food was SO GOOD! It seems a little pricey at first but brunch includes a "brunch bread" tray and a choice of a brunch cocktail. The mimosa was delicious! Service was great. We will definitely keep this on our must visit list when we are in town in the future!
We had a good visit. We were seated promptly and our server was friendly. The portions of the two appetizers we selected were generous. The scallops and halibut were both tasty as were the chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The only drawback I would say was that the restaurant was very loud and at times it was difficult to carry on a conversation across the table.
Service was horrendous. Very very slow. Ran out of drinks multiple times, food was slow to come out and not all that good. Server didn’t know the menu, at all. For the prices you pay, service should be spot on. It’s not. Food should be cooked to the appropriate temperature as well. Arctic char was way over cooked.
Amazing location. Fun environment. The food was above average and unique. Fun for a group dinner. We are looking forward to a return visit!
We had a wonderful dinner at Blue Fin. The service was prompt and attentive, and the food was amazing. I had the lobster bisque, and it was probably the best that I have ever had. The sushi was amazing as well. Highly recommend the Times Square roll or Californication roll. Will be back!
Waiter not seen very often. We ordered two salads dressing on the side and no croutons. Both salads cane with dressing and croutons. When pointed out to waiter he said he would make it up to us. We ordered dessert and a cappuccino. Cappuccino came 10 minutes after dessert. We sent it back. There was no accommodation / price adjustment for wrong orders. We will not be returning to blue fin. Will share experience with others.
Fresh delicious fish with beautiful presentation! We stay in Times Square at Xmas every year and somehow missed this one! We will be returning again next year and can't wait!!
Fast friendly service, delicious food! Had brussel sprout salad, scallops and halibut. Little loud but nice atmosphere, fun with friends or crowd. Very welcoming.
Seafood tower was delicious. Excellent food , craft cocktails and service in a perfect location
The sushi was awesome! We tried them all!!
A Times Square Tourist trap , expensive and mediocre food .
Tasty food- Had a few big Shrimp - A few pieces of sushi roll- and the Halibut-
Drinks are plentiful and the waiter was on top of things.
The only good thing about our dinner was our excellent waitress. I haven’t been to Blue Fin for several years, but it used to be a go-to place for an upscale experience in Times Square - there aren’t many such options. The food and ambiance was a departure from the past. This felt like an average dining experience at above average prices with an Olive Garden atmosphere. I live and work in New York. This wasn’t sticker shock, it was quality shock. My Chilean sea bass was less than a half inch thick and was served with what I think was some kind of miso carmelized eggplant. To call it an unfortunate execution is an understatement. My husband’s halibut with gnocchi was similarly uninspiring. My cocktail was thick and sweet. Our gracious waitress quickly replaced it with a glass of wine. The molton chocolate cake was hard in the center. Having already returned my cocktail, I didn’t want to be too fussy.
I would not recommend Blue Fin to anyone.
One of my favorites. The food and the service are always great.
another excellent meal, combined with attentive but not excessive service, made for a fine dining experience.
My wife and I had an 11:15 pm reservation after the broadway show. When I confirmed with the restaurant I asked if we were going to be rushed because they close at 12. I was assured that we would be able to enjoy our dinner. When our order was taken, the server kept looking at her watch. Then after our appetizers were delivered, she came over at 11:40 and said last call for food (still hadn’t order our sushi yet) We order and food was there in 4 minutes. The check was delivered while we were eating. I was very disappointed. This shouldn’t matter but our dinner was $400 and they couldn’t get us out of there fast enough.
The Blue Fin is one of the best restaurants in the theatre distict. I highly recommend it!
Only went to grab a bite before theatre- food average to not very good, used to be much better & would not return
Blue Fin is (or was) our “go-to” restaurant for pre-theater dining before shows in the area. That night, however, the service was abominable. We arrived shortly before 6:15 for a 6:15 reservation (our 8:00 show was just down the block on 47 St). We were seated in a room usually used only for private parties and were the second group to be seated in a room with 5 tables. No one else was seated for about 10-15 minutes, but we were the last to get our waiter’s attention. This despite continuously reminding the waiter (one waiter assigned to the room) and others that we had theater tickets.
Ultimately not served appetizers until about 7:15, rushed to finish and then served entrees after 7:30 with just enough time to finish, coax the check from someone other than the waiter and leave barely in time to rush to the theater arriving just at 8. Ruined the evening. May need to find a better pre-theater choice.
Great location if you're going to the theatre. Highly varied and interesting menu covering all possible types of fish/seafood . We were promptly greeted at a bustling front desk and immediately escorted to the restaurant. However, we had a relatively isolated table were it was quiet enough to chat. Food was excellent, albeit expensive, but a nice place for a special event.
Our meals were excellent. The waiter was amazing and very prompt with taking our order, serving drinks etc. Drinks were properly mixed. Overall this was the best meal of the weekend.
A tale of 2 restaurants! My wife and I had lunch there in early November and everything was very good with exceptional service. Today we had brunch there and while the food was very good the service was fair at best. If today had been our first experience, it also would have been our last as there was no excuse for fair service except a poorly trained or disgruntled server
Sushi was great and all other food from brunch was excellent. Would like to see more brunch offerings
Food was pretty good except for one of the oysters which was bad. Service was deplorable. At these prices, everything should be spot on.
I had a reservation for 7 pm via open table for pre-theater. I waited 25 min to be seated which just left time for raw appetizers.
Absolutely the worst service! We told the waiter we needed to make a show, so we had an hour. Drinks took forever. Appetizers came out after 45 mins. We were finally able to flag him down and reminded him about the timing and he could not have cared less. We ended up having to cancel our entrees because we ran out of time.
Fantastic food and service
The lobster bisque was the best I’ve ever had!! Sushi, raw oysters and trio of tartares were all amazing. Our waiter, Chas, was friendly, attentive, and helpful—he was incredible!!
love this place - marvelous seafood and raw bar - and the cheese plate is super
We were looking for a good seafood meal in the theater district And this fit the bill. A little too close to times square and a little too noisy for our taste but the grilled Bronzino we had was delicious and the waitress very friendly and attentive.
The music was too loud and really poor selections. I see no reason to inflict more Christmas music on us while we are dining when we have to hear it in every other locale.
This was a business trip with 7 diners and we had a good table fit, service was prompt and courteous, food was very good with a selection to fit a variety of likes. Good location at Times Square and an approximately priced menu for NYC. Atmosphere was moderate noise level and update interior.
A good all around choice.
Great service, great food. Enjoyed our dinner from start to finish. Server was wonderful made the experience that much better. Beautiful restaurant. In the heart of Time Square.
Our server Donovsn was cordial, attentive, and most capable.
The food was not great. I had "roasted scallops" as my main course and they were very greasy/oily. I also had a salad with beets and the beets tasted like jarred spiced apples...weird.
Came from 🇨🇦 for a conference. Found this restaurant from the net. Nice, cozy setting. Delicious food. Highly recommend it!
