Blue Fin - New York

Waiter was excellent. One guest had asked for no wheat berries due to gluten allergy but meal still came with wheat berries. Waiter promptly took care of situation. Meal was tasty. Nice atmosphere.
We dined at Blue Fin pretheatre . The service was prompt, a plus. The sushi, for the most part , was tasty. Oysters were on special and, though not large were quite good. All in all, not a bad meal.
great place. beautiful decor.. great menu. great quality food. wonderful service..great before theater choice..
Had my fav - the Lobster Cobb salad. Seems like the lobster has been really reduced. Disappointed. Its always been my go to lunch order
In NYC for a weekend getaway! Needed a late dinner after leaving Beetlejuice. This place was warm and romantic with great staff and delicious food. Plan on coming back!
I found it to be overpriced for mediocre food. Granted we went for sushi, not exactly fine dining, but I have had better sushi at smaller mom and pop type places. It was clearly a tourist trap kind of place, being right near all of the broadway theatres. But it was just ok. Service wasn’t great - waitress spent very little time at our table, and we were trying to get to a show but had to flag her down to get our check and again to get her to take the payment. Nothing annoys me quite like having to beg someone to pay them. On a positive note, I have a peanut allergic child and they did flag her meal so I’m assuming they have good allergy practices in place, though I didn’t take the time to ask much about it. But overall I say skip it.
It was very, very busy during the time we went.
The food was great as was our waiter....
It is such a challenge finding a place to eat in/near the Theater District when you live in NYC, and this place isn’t it. I had been to Blue Fin probably a decade ago and sadly it looks as though not much has changed in those years. Not sure if service, facilities, or food was most disappointing.
Service: waiter was pleasant, but when clearing our table he dropped the ramekin of soy sauce. It splashed all over the floor. He didn’t say anything - no apology. He also didn’t mention that the splash, although avoiding my clothes, did hit my leather handbag that was under the table. I noticed the splashes as we were getting up to leave and had to spend a few minutes wiping it down. It wasn’t ruined, but if it had been a fabric bag or lighter leather, it would have been. Again, not a peep from the waiter about this. Shameful. Accidents happen, just own up to them. We were sitting right there!
Facilities: I am pretty certain the same person who installed the bathroom here also installed the public restrooms at LGA. Dirty, rusting, leaking. Just gross.
Food: although most of the sushi and salads we ordered were good, the truffle rainbow roll is false advertising at best. It’s a rainbow roll with what can only be described as salad dressing that may have been waived over a truffle in a past life. Disappointing, especially at $19.
Consider yourself warned.
Good food, good service. Table for two felt out in the open, but they are a big place and someone has to have the lesss desirable tables.
We had a great experience dining at Blue Fin for a girls weekend. The service was wonderful and prompt, and Manny - our waiter - was attentive and never pushy. He recommended the sea bass and was so right! It was phenomenal. We booked a 5pm reservation for a 7pm show nearby and it was a perfect way to have a leisurely dinner before our show. I would definitely consider returning the next time I am in New York.
Lovely. Enjoyed it very much. Food was great. Not rushed - a great pre theatre meal. Excellent wine.
Because it is a holiday with only a few matinees playing, it was quiet. However the service is impeccable and the menu fantastic with something for everyone. It is the best restaurant in the area by far!
Really great food!
Food was good, but overpriced for the portion sizes. Our waiter was very attentive and the staff overall were very helpful. Nice experience, but we will not return.
Great food and service as always. Blue Fin never disappoints!
Excellent food, service, in a beautiful atmosphere. enjoyed the excellent calamari & shrimp corn ravioli, as well as the glazed chilean sea bass. Strawberry ice cream and molten chocolate cake to die for.
Great brunch- -unique dishes, drink included--and right in the heart of the theater district.
The waiter was so rude. We will not go back.
Food and service were excellent
This has been my go to restaurant in the theater district since it opened and for the first time was so very disappointed. The restaurant was not particularly busy but the service was terrible. We had to keep chasing down our waitperson for bread, for drinks and ultimately for our food. And when there is a theater curtain rising it’s particularly stressful. Luckily the manager stepped in but that shouldn’t have to happen. Especially in NYC where there are so many options.
I go to Blue Fin every time I'm in NYC, about 10 times a year. Great food, service and location. Wonderful sushi!
Excellent experience all around from the reception to the service, delicious food, beautiful ambience and reasonable prices.
Food was good, nice specials, excellent waitress. One of our main go to pre-theatre spots!
Great for early pre-show dinner. Wonderful Chilean Sea Bass and Charred Octopus appetizer!
Place felt tired, chain-like and a little like an overpriced TGI Fridays or upscale Applebees selling Asian fusion. Not really what we expected given the reviews, which were generally quite favorable. Food was fine, but substantially overpriced. Sushi was just OK. There are so many better options in Midtown and Times Sq that this one really shouldn't be on the list. Once the mediocre meal is finished they sell you on joining the frequent dining club across multiple restaurants. TACKY and GROSS!
We were tucked away but i enjoyed the food and the service was good.
Very good food and service!
The food was delicious! Our waitress was wonderful! I've been here 3 times in the last 2 months! Each time everything was fabulous! Will definitely go again!
Very fancy, in the heart of times square. Very expansive, food is good but very expansive, service was good too. So as a one time thing is good but probably wont be a yearly spot for me
Since we are now going to more theatre matinees than evening performances, we are delighted to say we have found our new favorite. The newly decorated Blue Fin fills the bill perfectly. A terrific brunch menu featuring excellent grain bowls, poached eggs with smoked salmon on crunchy potatoes, spicy bloody Marys and refreshing mimosas make for a delightful meal in an inviting, relaxed atmosphere, steps away from whatever theatre you are going to. I promise you won't be disappointed --- and if you prefer sushi, their selection is fresh, tasty and plentiful!
Good option for pre-theater Sunday Brunch. Gorgeous interior design.
We made reservations for late night dining after theater experience. It was a perfect late night light meal. Quality was excellent.
When we arrived we were seated first in he bar, and then next to a service station. We chose a more acceptable table and were told it was reserved (it should be obvious that we had a reservation too). We sat there anyway, and then our servers proceeded to ignore us—repeated requests for a menu, bread and water yielded results only after the third or more try.
The food is pretty good, and we will probably return because of the location of this place, but I really hope they learn some hospitality before we do.
The location for this restaurant is surprising. Along Broadway it appears to be unimpressive until you walk in and go upstairs. The food and service was excellent!
I used at a breakfast meeting with a client and was not bad. Waiter was slow in reception though, but not really annoying.
This location is very good for pre-theater dining. The waitstaff will be sure to get you out in time.
Very nice seafood preparations & good wine selection. The appetizers selection is particularly tasty.
Interesting menu with a mix of Asian inspired fish choices - sushi, rolls etc. and straight up fish dishes.
Service was good. The space is vast but noise level was moderate.
Good choice in the Times Square area.
size of food relatively small
Always reliable for pre-theater dinner. New favorite for centrally located spot for business breakfasts. Menu is fine, room is quiet enough to hold a meeting.
