Blue Fin - New York Ratings and Reviews
We were looking for a seafood or sushi restaurant and this is both. Went for post - theatre dinner as it was right around the corner. The downstairs bar was closed and a sign directed us to the hostess upstairs. After a cool reception and acknowledgment of our reservation we we seated at a booth in the very quiet restaurant. A very few tables were occupied with diners finishing their meals. Our drinks and food were excellent (halibut is melt in your mouth with a superb lemon wine sauce and red snapper was inventive and tasty. Our waiter provided attentive service and the sorbet trio was a delicious finish to the meal. However, the ambience is quiet and cool. A quiet respite from Times Square but unexciting and somehow disappointing at this time of night.
Been there many times and this was the outlier. Very poor service. People who delivered the meals had no idea who got what - that doesn't happen in a good restaurant. One person ordred rare Tuna and it came out well done. Sent back and second one ALSO came back well done. 15 minutes after ordering wine and none delivered. So it was a comedy of errors in a place we have been to at least 10 times and always had a great experience.
Then Seth took over and did all he could to make it right. In the end, he comped most of the meal. And we got out in time for our shows.
We will most certainly return for two reasons. We always loved this restaurant and we are impressed that we were heard, acknowledged, validated and compensated. I own a business and one can always screw up. Seth handled this perfectly.
Overall, we enjoyed our dinner at Blue Fin. The service was good and most dishes were excellent. One of our cooked entrees was quite dry. They have a kids' menu, which is a real plus in NYC if you need it. My main complaint is where we were seated. The main dining area is lively and has a great vibe. We were seated in the back room, which felt very bland and cramped, like an overflow space. It definitely didn't feel like the other areas. I would happily go back to Blue Fin, but would request a table in the main dining area.
We have been to Blue Fin on several occasions and it never disappoints. The food is fresh and delicious, with many options for different tastes. The simply grilled halibut was amazing. My friends had sushi and it was well presented and delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommend.
One of my go to restaurants in the theatre district. It use to be a great place for people watching, but the restaurant has been divided into two different venues, and you no longer have any view of the outside world. Disappointing, but because of the location and the food we will be back.
We went for Sunday brunch/lunch before attending the theatre. Brunch included a drink-mimosa, etc. and fresh farm eggs if that is your thing. On Sunday, there is a minimal list of lunch items, but sushi is also available, and what we had was excellent.
One of my favorite things to eat is a burger, and this was one of the best I ever had. You could taste the difference in the meat, the bacon, and the egg enhanced the overall flavor. We also had the crab salad, which could have had a little more crab, but overall refreshing and exactly what we needed.
There was a good selection of wines by the glass, and we enjoyed a rose and a white. Overall a great food experience.
Overall it was a good. We got there At 4pm and was hoping to be able to order from dinner menu, but brunch menu turned out to have breakfast so, good for some and bad for others in our group. Food was mostly good. We didn’t care for the chicken sandwich. The pumpkin pancake & seafood tower is excellent!
our waiter Stan made every effort in everything he did, service, friendliness, professionalism and knowledge, food was exceptional, special touch in everything we ordered. Personal touches by the chef, one on one conversation with host David and overall ambience made this outing very memorable. Highly recommend it for any occasion, formal or casual, this is a place.
