Blue Fin - New York Ratings and Reviews
We sat at the Bar for dinner after our Broadway show. The service was great, drinks were good! Food was so so, we got the seafood tower and the lobster was not good at all, especially for a seafood joint. Great atmosphere, one of the nicest restaurants on the Time Square/Theater District!
We've eaten at Blue Fin many times, and the food is consistently good but this time it was truly outstanding. The oysters were fresh and delicious and the fish main courses were cooked perfectly. Add to that the terrific and attentive service and we had a wonderful dining experience.
Very noisy and service was average. Slight mix up on the order so the original plate had to go back to the kitchen, and the wait for tuna simply to be seared and returned to the table took over 20 minutes, so there was no rush to make amends. Unfortunately, they sat our small party of three next to six very boisterous women, so the noise level was ear piercing which may have been why the order was mixed up, no one could hear the waitress.
Horrible service. Extremely disappointing experience altogether. I made the 10am brunch reservation several blocks away from our hotel because the menu made it appear as if sushi was on the brunch menu. But we couldn’t order sushi because it wasn’t 11am yet. So don’t make that mistake. Typical breakfast food otherwise. Nothing worth making a special reservation for. Service was so, so bad I can’t even describe it. Overall, my biggest regret from this carefully planned trip. Sorry, not sorry.
Had a reservation but it was useless. We would’ve had to wait an hour or more or sit at a table downstairs (near entrance). We chose the latter instead of waiting. Greeters not very friendly. Definitely not who I’d want at the front of my business greeting customers but this is Times Square theater district so not surprised. Food was very good; a bit tepid temperature wise; service ok. Great desert. Overall not that impressed. Doubt I’d go back.
The restaurant was pleasant and staff very nice. Salmon was excellent, squid was a hit and a miss (1 plate was very good and the other not that good), Chilean sea base was great. The service was good, though could have been a little bit better for the prices of the meal. Note that there's an upstairs and being able to climb stairs easily would be good. (Didn't ask if they had an elevator.) The booth seating is a bit tight for 6 people.
I think it was not a good place for a big group especially seating is not comfortable not easy for big group chatting during meal.
Other than that are pretty good, our waiter is polite and understand our needs very well.
Food is delicious and well presented,
Ordered fish and steak (first medium well-done). Both were raw, the server got a new steak and inside it's all raw again. Waited for 1 hr for the 2nd steak which was raw even when we asked for medium well-done. 3rd time, asked the server to have to grilled butterfly so it's not raw. This time it was over well-done. Fish was raw inside as well.
I don't think we will ever dine at this restaurant again. There was no apologies from the management.
I had not been here for several years, and remembered Blue Fin as a "destination" dining spot. While the food was beautifully prepared and the server was outstanding, I was disappointed in how casually people were dressed and how the restaurant didn't think it important to have a tablecloth on the table--perhaps a sign of the times and our "come as you are" mentality as a culture.
Still, we enjoyed it immensely.
Blue Fin never disappoints. We go there often when we go to the theatre
The food and service is always good. This last visit we especially liked our server, Emily. She was delightful. Our diner was particularly delicious? squash lobster bisque m bay scallops and salmon.
There were so many good choices, it was hard to decide.
