Blue Fin - New York Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation for pre theater dinner. We wanted a pleasant relaxed 60 minute meal and so Made a reservation for 6:30. When we got there it was chaos. The reservations were at least 30 minutes late. The kitchen was backed up and slow. It is clear the place overbooked and did not intend to honor its reservations. Open Table should consider dumping this place unless it radically improves. To make amends, the manager offered us a cookie to go. It was sad. I should add that the prices here are no bargain either. All in all not worth the money. We won’t go again.
Our server Brent was his usual excellent. The Filet was very disappointing. You obviously have new chefs because it was nothing like the past. I hope the next time I dine there the food experience will be better. But again Brent is the absolute professional he makes a bad food night much more pleasant!!
Food was fresh--good portion of halibut with some light as pillows lemon gnocchi but lump crabmeat was sparse. Excellent lobster/crab spring rolls but dipping sauce a little on the tame/plain side. Made easy Open Table reservations on the train ride up to NYC.
We have been going to Blue Fin since it opened. The food is still good and I really like the addition of the poke bowl and butternut squash salad. The decor is getting tired though. We needed to use the elevator and we were escorted to a dark back hallway with stacked up bar chairs; not exactly an elegant entry to an upscale restaurant. The wood flooring upstairs is shot: it just looks dated.
Extremely busy night even though it was early - 6pm. They have shoved tables in every space available. Ours appeared to be a piece of plywood set on a base and was not sturdy at all. Service was very slow since they had jammed so many people into the restaurant and we had a major scramble getting to our show on time.
The Blue Fin is located in the W Hotel Times Square. We were staying in the hotel so the restaurant was most convenient, but we would have gone to eat there anyway. The seafood is great and the location is perfect for pre/post-theatre dinner. It was a three minute walk from the restaurant to our show.
Last minute reservation through Opentable. So glad! We had Hamilton tickets and needed to get in and out. The service was fantastic! And the atmosphere was very hip and happening! I had visited years ago and it was even better this time around. Highly recommended !
The best thing about this restaurant is how convenient it is. It was right across the street from our theater. But it was also a great dining experience. We were in and out right on schedule. Our youngest was occupied with an art project the whole time. The food was good and the staff was on top of everything. Only downside was the ladies room. At least one toilet was broken and there was a line from 7-10 people long.
Food was great. On past 3 visits Service was poor compared to what it used to be there. Bottle of wine came half way through dinner with no apologies. Server was totally unfamiliar with wine list. Similar flaws on prior two visits. We are looking for a new pre theater “go to” venue. Disappointed too often.
This restaurant is dirty. The furniture is stained. My wine glass was crusted with something hard and sticky. The waiter was apologetic and kind, but he could not overcome the lack of care that has turned this once-great dinner spot into something sad. The halibut was delicious and the paella was fair. Overall a sad disappointment.
Management is excellent. They certainly know about customer service. I had a small issue and the manager showed up immediately and began to apologize. There were no excuses and he never made me feel that I was at fault. It was apparent that the management was clearly focused on the customer and both my wife and I had an amazing experience. Of course, the sushi and lobster was delicious! I will go there again!
