Blue Fin - New York

Spent the earlier part of the day at a broadway show and had reservations at Blue Fin. We left the show with time to spare before our reservations so spent time at the bar until our time to sit. The food was divine with a creamy ceviche and an even more delicious East/West oyster platter for our appetizers. Ribeye was cooked perfect and the scallops were full of flavor. It was all great.
Excellent food, great service, beautiful restaurant. The space upstairs is very tight while waiting for our table (waited 15 minutes w/ reservation) along with servers trying to squeeze past at least 20 others waiting. I suggest not sending patrons upstairs until the table is ready. Otherwise fantastic experience.
Great service and atmosphere.
Prepare to indulge your taste buds in a myriad of flavors...we are from Southern California - land of amazing restaurants and sushi bars and all we can say is WOW!!!!!! The food is so fresh and delicious and the presentation is awesome. Just be prepared to wait - even with a reservation - this place is in the heart of Times Square and everyone knows about it. Secret?? Sit at the bar for fast service and a quieter space believe it or not - and the bartenders are awesome!!
Great pre- theater place for lunch or brunch. Varied, interesting and reasonable choices. Included cocktail at brunch a nice touch. Server was pleasant and efficient. Terrific atmosphere as well.
Everything was good, especially the unexpected free cocktail thrown in at brunch time. Sadly a couple of wait staff hadn’t made it to work which meant our polite and hardworking lady did her best but was overwhelmed with so many tables. All in all, an oasis for brunch right on Times Square.
A pleasant place, with very good food and very nice service. Just wish they'd turn down the music a bit... A big space that generates enough noise on its own. doesn't need the music, too! But we'll be back. Great location for the theater district...
When we arrived the hostesses were all arguing. It took a few minutes before we could get their attention to be seated. Food was good, not great. Our server was friendly, but clearly overworked. We had to ask for refills and barely saw him. I wouldn’t go back, but not terrible.
Waiter, there's a hair on my sushi!
We were about to tuck in to our sushi when we noticed a curly hair sitting proud on the sushi. In addition to this;
We had to chase up drinks as starter had arrived by not the drinks. Apparently they were 'still being made'. It was a beer from a can and a glass of wine....not sure what had to be 'made'.
The wine was not cold enough.
Immediately after the 'hair incident' we were asked how our evening was do far - I told the waitress that it was fine until I found a hair sat on my sushi.
We had to chase up fries which we'd ordered with our main course - they arrived at a point in the dinner when I had less than half of my dinner left.
The main course itself was lovely - such a shame about the list of things above.
Seafood was fresh- well-prepared
Service was friendly and prompt.
Will return
Lovely food, made a special effort for my sister’s birthday.
I wish I could remember the name of our server. He was just right. Excellent breakfast and such a nice experience.
Love this restaurant we will return
I would for a pre-theater meal. the table was smaller than a bistro table! the staff didn't seem to communicate with each other too well.
We were before Theater.
The ceviche was very tasty.
The sushi was so fresh and delicious.
I go to this restaurant all the time. This time it was very crowded and the service was terrible. I asked for a coffee refill 3 times before calling a manager over.
The food was really good but the service from our waitress was awful. She took 4 attempts to take our order as she was pre occupied with other customers. We visited the restaurant as it came up as recommended gluten free but most of the mains contained gluten so was disappointing.
We had one drink and the waitress never back to see if we wanted another. Although the quality of the food was good we won’t go back
The quality of the food and service has gone down throughout the years.
Location was perfect, food was good, service was fine, nothing was outstanding
The food was bland and tasteless. Four of us ate there and without getting desserts the bill was almost $300!! Do not waste your money on this place. The service was ok but the food took forever to get to our table. Would not recommend!!
Very good food at an appropriate price. Convenient to Times Square.
Visiting our daughter during Thanksgiving weekend...
Great atmosphere, decor, and food
The food at Blue Fin was very good and the service was excellent! It is a great pre-theater restaurant. We were a 2 minute walk from the theater.
It was goo for what it was. Very short menu. But not bad if your in Times Sq.
Dinner before broadway show
The service was terrible which was very surprising. We’ve been there before and never had service anywhere near this poor.
Great food, excellent service! This was our second time here and we will be back.
The service was abysmal and downright strange. We will not be back.
If you're in times square and want good food - not just Bubba Gump - this is a great spot. Much less sushi than I had hoped, but overall really good meal.
We always go to Blue Fin prior to the theatre and always enjoy it. Our lunch was delicious but our waiter didn’t tell us about our complementary Bloody Mary or mimosa until we had finished our meals and the cocktails we had already ordered and finished. When I questioned this, he said he was waiting for us to finish our drinks before saying anything. I couldn’t have another drink prior to our matinee and left feeling dissatisfied we our dining experience.
The service was outstanding but he was only one for a large room. The floor did not seem clean.
Good pretheater food and drinks but expensive. We had the martini flights for two— best part of our dinner
Excellent, food service
Laura, our server was great. Perfect spot for pre theater dinner.
The food was delicious, branzino and rib eye steak. Service great, ambience very good. Makes for an excellent dining experience. My third time at this restaurant. Never disappointed.
We were in a rush and we stopped in at 9:45 at night and we didn’t get off food for one hour I weighed it was great but we were in a rush so I was all upset waiting so long.
The food was delicious
Great waitress. Excellent food. Overpriced drinks
extremely mediocre and a bit pricey for the dining experience
Great place to go before a show
Service could be improved. This place felt more like a club than a restaurant. They had no soap in the bathroom. I had to call to their attention that they overcharged me for my meal and the waitress tried to explain it away as if it were a tax issue. I had to request the menu to explain that the tax in NY is 8.875%, not 15%. They also charged $30 for a plate priced on their menu for 29 (the salmon). All this makes one wonder if these mistakes are really mistakes or intentional. I will not be returning. Sad, because I worked on Landry’s/Golden Nuggets bond deal for Mr. Tilman Fertitta to buy the Houston Rockets and thought it would be a nice restaurant to try out.
Our waiter Bryan was excellent and the sushi rolls were outstanding! Great location and nice staff. We had a great time!!
