A fun casual place. Food was great and so was the service.
LOVED the ambiance - cozy old-timey and festive. Perfect for holiday cocktails on date night
Great spot in the Theatre District for dinner/drinks before a show or just for a nice night out
Ambiance and environment cozy and comfortable. Service is outstanding and food and drinks spectacular!
Great service and menu offerings the CCBLTE was a good portion and great value. Blue Dog Cookhouse + Bar has a lovely decor also. Highly recommend for various gatherings of all occasions.
Food was great. Very busy & place is very small. Had reservations but had to wait 10 15 minutes to be seated. Was told we had 1.5 hours to eat and which was just enough time due to waiter service had to ask for our drinks a second time as we think the waiter forgot to bring Ben. We we’re a party of 2 but we were seated between two large groups at one table. Would have waited for our own table had we been asked. Food was very good. We would go again
Small & cozy atmosphere, Great service, Food was served hot and tasted great.
Great service - amazing food! Will go again!
The host was incredibly rude. We arrived 7 min later than our reservation time and he scolded us and threatened that he was about to give away our table. I've never encountered such a thing in my life. Made me hate the place from the moment I got there. Also the drink I ordered took forever to arrive; didn't show up until right before our food came. Food was all fine.
Great cozy spot. Good food and fun ambience.
I had read what a great spot this place was on Trip Advisor, and it really deserves all the praise it has received. Great food, service, vibe--so glad we made a res and experienced this place. My party of 3 was challenged by my father's walker and extremely limited mobility. We have to thank the patrons of Blue Dog as much as the staff who helped him in and out of the restaurant (note to self...NYC is not a very accessible restaurant destination). Highly recommend this spot, especially if steps and close quarters aren't a challenge for you.
Dinner was so delicious that we returned the next morning for breakfast! Fantastic service, fantastic food
Great apps, entrees and drinks!
I would totally eat here again! Yum!
Tables very close together, we were very uncomfortable, as were the diners on either side of us. Server did not listen to our specific requests.
Went for Sunday brunch. Cozy indoor seating. Lots of covered outdoor seating for the warmer weather (no heaters so definitely seasonal outdoor dining). Service was very attentive and we weren't rushed to leave. Generous portions and good value for NYC. Nice selection of food to please everyone and gluten free options. Great coffee! Highly recommend.
I didn’t realize that the restaurant was not handicapped accessible. It was challenging for my blind husband to enter and leave the restaurant. I was also uneasy with placement of diners so close to each other. Enjoyed the food but not the overall experience.
Great location if staying in Times Square / Theater District - food was delicious and service was attentive.
The food was great - servers were very nice, but it was busy and they took a long time with ordering. Once food was ordered, it was delivered quickly and was delicious (Watermelon Tarragon Chicken Salad; Saint Citron cocktail was great and refreshing). The space was quaint, but small and crowded. I’ve never sat so close to other diners or at such a small table. Once lunch rush ended and things cleared out, everything felt better and servers were able to get around with water and coffee refills more readily. I would definitely eat here again when back in NYC if in the vicinity.
Great place for breakfast meetings and great food.....
Awesome brunch place! Inside and outside dining in a great location! Visit every time I am in town!
Food was ok and ambiance was nice. Service, like at so many places now, is short handed, is probably worse than it usually is.
Below average. Would not go back with so many other options available.
This place is just about perfect. Food, fantastic! (Short ribs, especially) Service, phenomenal. The decor and ambiance are fun and relaxed but still classy and rich.
The space itself is teeny tiny and everything is seated uncomfortably close. In a pandemic environment it felt too close and not at all safe, but it was late and everywhere else had really long waits. The space looks like it should be a small coffee house, smaller than your average NYC restaurant. And it smelled bad, as if they hadn’t changed their frying oil in a while. The server was not knowledgeable about the menu, when I asked for gluten free menu options she suggested a salad because she didn’t know what else I could eat. When I got was outraged, she then said if I could make a menu selection she could try to see if they could make it gluten free. At the very end of the night it was revealed that she had no idea gluten could be an actual medical food restriction and she clearly thought I was just on a voluntary gluten free diet. The burger I had was good although they gave me gluten free rye bread instead of a bun and I wasn’t warned about that, so that sucked (I have other food allergies). The fries were very good. Nothing made me sick, but we won’t be going back.
We picked this place for location to the theater, parking and ratings. The staff and food were very good however the seating is deplorable. Had we known how tight the seating was we would have never booked this place. If you are comfortable with close proximity to other diners this is your place but considering COVID guidelines this place is definitely not compliant even with needing proof of vaccination.
Great food. Relaxed atmosphere. Definitely would go again.
Great food, service, drinks! Cannot complain about a single thing
This was our first and most certainly not the last visit here
We had a very enjoyable dining experience. The menu was creative with fresh seasonal foods. The wait staff was extremely pleasant and the service was excellent. They allowed us plenty of time to peruse the menu since it was new to us. The restaurant was fairly small which gave it a friendly and intimate atmosphere
This is definitely a go back to restaurant
An intimate little gem in the theatre district. The food and cocktails were wonderful and our server, Robert, was lovely. Overall our experience for a preshow dinner was perfect... so much so that I'd head there even if I wasn't going to a show.
The restaurant is very quaint, much smaller than what is pictured. The wait staff is excellent and attentive. The food was so-so. My dish (salmon with quinoa) was particularly oily and I couldn't finish it. Truffle fries were delicious but also very oily. I was hoping for a little better from the kitchen. Overall, it was good, not great but the waitstaff really was attentive and helpful.
We chose The Blue Dog based on proximity and food but we’d come back anytime! The ambiance was great, small, lively, beautiful, friendly and a great find.
Nemo and the whole entire staff were amazing. My husband and I went to The Blue Dog for the first time with our young nieces after a Broadway show and they all went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The food (we got 3 different burgers and the Asian salad and the Mac and cheese ball appetizer) was so delicious. Unfortunately we had to leave early because our young niece didn’t feel well after a long day but we took everything home to eat and it was still absolutely yummy!
We can’t wait to return and try even more of their menu! It’s a small place but I’d definitely recommend to anyone! Thank you to The Blue Dog Cookhouse and Bar for making our first time at your restaurant so enjoyable and memorable. We’ll be back soon for sure!
Excellent service, great food. Had Harvest burger and short ribs. Portion was perfect. They were out of Pinot noir and Malbec, so settled on cab sav, which was ok. Very small, dark place. Felt a bit crammed in, but otherwise a great meal.
Sat outside ordered coffee and a burger. Coffee was on the cold side burger was decent. They brought another coffee but just not memorable. Service was ok given help is stretched. I will not be going back again.
This place was recommended by a friend. I brought my parents there when they were in town and they loved it! So did I. I'll for sure be going back.
The food is very good. There was a snafu with one of our meals, and the server offered to take it back to the kitchen to cook it some more, but my husband already lost his appetite for it and just asked to take it away and take it off the bill. This is where things got extraordinary. The manager came to our table, apologized for the ruined dish, and seemed genuinely concerned about our disappointment. His proposed solutions were what hospitality business should be but so rarely is anymore. We left feeling important, cherished as guests, and taken care of — instead of having our evening ruined. Everyone occasionally makes mistakes; it’s the way businesses own and fix those mistakes that makes them stand out. We recommend this place and will probably go back there.
We came here to celebrate my friends birthday and from the moment we all arrived, we were greeted and treated with care and was full of attention and hospitality.
Everyone from our waiter, bartender and other staff made our little celebration so much fun. We even got a complimentary round of drinks from Nasha!
Thank you Blue Dog Cookhouse for a wonderful experience and really good food.
One of my favorite restaurants to visit in NYC before seeing a Broadway show. High quality food for a variety of palettes!
