Excellent service and exceptional food. We live on the water in Wa State US, and have extremely high standards for quality seafood and beef. We had the platter for two with filet and king crab... absolutely delicious!! The crab dip is amazing as well. Highly recommend!!
Overall just a great place to go for date night or anniversary. Personally I went here for my anniversary, had a great experience. The food was great the wine was too. Our server was really knowledgeable about the menu and wine. The scenery was beautiful and would go back just for that.
Service was excellent with a very extensive introduction to the menu.
The view us incredible.
We took the Platter for 2. They were more than accommodating to swap out our crab legs for 2 lobster tails which really changed the whole dynamic of the Platter.
Will definitely go again and order the Platter for 2, with the lobster substitution, highly recommended!!!
The food was fine. The service was just ok, but not bad. However, we were offered a ride back to our hotel, the Fairmont Empress by a young lady named Marnie Ainslie. (I am not sure if I am spelling her name correctly or not). She was just full of personality & talkative. She was also the only person we met that was born & raised in Victoria.
Victoria, what a beautiful part of the world to see -
The Blue Crab Caesar was excellent. Our waiter was knowledgeable and well-versed on the menu's particulars. The Salt Spring Island mussels were fresh and tasty. My companion and I split the Blue Crab Dinner for Two, choosing King Crab legs and a tenderloins to round out the shrimp, scallops, vegetables, and risotto. The presentation was nice. Both of our tenderloins were undercooked. Saving them for last to eat, allowed the heat to continue to cook them to an acceptable doneness. We passed on dessert. One quibble was the presence of small children and all the noise that entails in what one would consider a fine dining establishment. Also, as the dining room got busier, we seemed to see less and less of our waiter. The waterfront views of the Victoria Harbor are magnificent, and all-in-all this is a fine establishment and we had a pleasant evening.
Excellent food. Some of the best oysters I've ever had and the clam chowder is special. Even the bread is delicious. Loved our crabs, and finished the night with an outstanding collection of ice wines. Add in the spectacular views of the harbor and you're in for a treat.
The food was absolutely exceptional and our server/hostess was the most generous, observant and professional I’ve ever experienced. Prices are on the higher end but as is the quality and every moment was well with the penny. Definitely recommend this place for a casual evening or a romantic night out.
The restaurant is in a beautiful location over looking the Victoria harbour. It is a good place for a romantic dinner. The prices were outrageous. For the amount of food that you get and the price you pay is crazy. The food was good not great. The service however was excellent!
I was a little apprehensive booking our reservation on-line, being "old school" I like to speak person to person, however, I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised and will book our reservation again this way. We arrived, didn't have to wait at all, the host seated us at a corner window. The view was spectacular. Our server was absolutely amazing, she went above and beyond to make our experience most pleasurable. We look forward to our next visit and we most definitely do recommend Blue Crab whenever we are asked for a good place to dine!

The setting and view are terrific. The food was cooked to perfection; succulent scallops, very tender tenderloin perfectly medium rare. BUT: very lacking in taste. How can tenderloin be tasteless, but it was. The sauces on the scallops and the lobster and the tenderloin tasted like it came out of a can or a bottle that was found in the back of the fridge. The ambience is worth the high price; the food is not.
We attended the restauraunt for an actual date. The view out the window was great. We ordeted the scallops appetizer (recommended) plus two meals. Great food and atmosphere. Highly priced but worth it for a special occasion.
My wife and myself enjoyed a birthday dinner at the Blue Crab. With all of the rave reviews about the seafood experience here, we thought that we were in for an extra special treat.
The view out of the spacious windows are truly awesome. We experienced the sunset over water (courtesy of the glass buildings across the harbour) which is one of my favourite perks in life. We didn't have an opportunity to view the menu before hand (not available online?) but we were kind of disappointed at the rather limited seafood options. We started with the Albicore Tuna appy,... very soft subtle flavours of tuna, served with a puree (odd choice) and missing the hit of citrus and complimenting greens that usually blend a nice tuna albicore bite.
I thoroughly enjoyed the rissotto, rich and creamy and packed with flavour. Two thumbs up.
My wife ordered the salmon main. Over cooked and underseasoned. We sent back the dish for a refire. Very quick turn-a-round for the refire and the salmon came back cooked perfectly. Flavour-wise, however, this dish missed the mark again.
The offer of desert made by our waiter was accompanied by a "we can offer you a birthday candle on a desert order". How lovely!
As no indication was made on how to pay for our meal, we headed out to the entrance where we met the Manager. He was very quick to offer his empathy as well as a complimentary desert,... next time.
So no, we will pass on that offer. With premium prices that "should" be accompanied with premium service and quality, as represented by the Coast Pacific Hotel chain, our supper experience lacked fulfillment and we regretfully won't be returning to or recommending the Blue Crab.
Service was very poor, prices were high. Clam chowder was delicious. We were seated for 15 minutes before orders were taken and once served our food the server never came back. We had to ask someone else for more water then our server gave the bill and we had to wait another 10 minutes to pay (card machine was on our table server just got distracted)
Two of us shared 4 of the 5 offerings on the daily fresh and local menu -- for September called the Harvest menu. It was tremendous. We took the suggestion from another reviewer to try the daily specials , which are fresh and local. Also, the view is great and the service excellent. I am so glad we relied on the open table reviews.
We have only ever had good experiences at The Blue Crab. In part, all of our major life developments have been entwined with them! We were married at the Coast and so our wedding was catered by them, we had our tasting there the day my daughter was born and while my family was in Victoria for our wedding, we gathered as a large crowd. This particular occasion was our second wedding anniversary. We were an hour early for our reservation and they were able to fit us in right away, the beautiful views of the Victoria harbour and float plane runway steals my heart every time! We had our toddler with us but The Blue Crab showed us, once again, how accommodating they are of children; from the accessibility of high chairs and boosters to their kid's menu and crayons.
The ambience was perfect. Although a larger group was forming behind us, we couldn't hear them at all.
The waitstaff are attentive polite and I've been there enough times in the past 2.5 years to recognize some them which, to me, says that they treat their staff as respectfully as they treat their customers.
Of course, setting everything else aside, the food is why we repeatedly return. My daughter had the grilled cheese and fries from the children's menu and I honestly had to stop myself from spoiling my appetite by consuming that delicious cheesy goodness and perfectly cooked fries... I'm glad I resisted though, my husband and I shared the beet salad which was a special and it was amazing! The soft boiled egg on top really made it for me! For my entrèe, I thoroughly enjoyed the Halibut on special and my husband had the timeless steak and lobster (with those incredible garlic mashed potatoes on the side)! Every morsel was cooked to perfection. We paired our meals with Thornhaven Gewurtztraminer and our daughter was too antsy for dessert, but trust me, we would have had the creme brûlée!

We haven't eaten here on awhile. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal; the halibut appy was tasty; my partner had the coho and was pleased; I had ceasar with lobster tail. Lobster was great but the dressing on the salad was a little vinegar. Dessert was delicious. Overall, an enjoyable night out.
