   Not really italian. It was missing basics like veal and chicken cutlets. I ordered a chicken dish with salad. It was deep fried and overcooked. With no tomato sauce. The cook was reluctant to do any changes to the menu. It was very dry and the salad was ok it took away alittle of the dryness. I left unsatisfied with a big bill to pay. It is not an Italian restaurant, more of a grumpy owner cook expression of favorite recipes which you may not agree with. Too bad for you.

   Philip, your review was insulting to the owner who is a native of southern Italy. It seems you thought you were going to see an American Italian menu. We have clearly stated several times, including in our logo, that Blue Cave offers a contemporary Italian cuisine. We clearly post our menu on several online resources which include photos of almost every item. We have a chicken cutlet on our menu which you ordered. It does not come with sauce and mimics the type of cutlet that is served all over norther Italy. To call someone names, such as grumpy, is unfair, especially since you had no contact with him. Our menu states there are no substitutions. The kitchen cannot accommodate substitutions on a very busy weekend service. I suggest you read over menus next time you try a new restaurant.

   From start to finish a great experience. The staff was welcoming and attentive. The food and drinks were delicious. Will be back soon!

   The menu is very interesting and the food was excellent. My only complaint was the price of alcohol. Our manhattans were $17 each and a small glass of not so good wine was $12.

   Our meal was very good. I thoroughly enjoyed my salmon dish. My wife had the 'Risotto Mare e Monti". She also enjoyed it, but in her opinion would have preferred sea/ocean scallops, which she claims are tastier compared to bay scallops. Overall, a very enjoyable dining experience, and happy to see that so far the restaurant is doing very well. We hope they stay in Lewiston for many, many years.

   Friendly and courteous staff. Excellent food - tasty, very well presented. The menu and wine list were not over extensive - a very good thing. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Prices not unreasonable for upscale dining. Highly recommended.

   Overall great food and good service. Only suggestions… Make that delicious bread service offered vs having to ask (limit to one free). As far as ambience dim the lights a little more and maybe pump in some nice ambient Italian music (not too loud). Looking forward to our next visit.

   Our first visit at this recently opened restaurant in Lewiston. Really nice decor. Very friendly service - although perhaps a little inexperienced. My husband had the fried oysters and, although they were tasty, were mostly 3 bites worth of breading and not worth the $16 price tag. For dinner he had the braciole and I had the chicken milanese. Both were very, very good. The presentation was lovely and portion size was perfect. We had room for dessert and opted for gelato (how can you not like gelato?!) I recommend a visit!

    Food advertised as "contemporary Italian cuisine" but my partner and I found our meals bland, without any noticeable seasoning. My partner had the gnocchi with Bolognese sauce and I had the braciole. Tomato sauce was tasteless. Food was on the overcooked scale and the side of grilled asparagus salty. Disappointed.
