Blue Bell Inn Ratings and Reviews
We had a delicious dinner; however felt the menu choices were limited. I suggest that an additional 3+ specials be offered. ( a veal chop, Rack of lamb & perhaps halibut would be lovely!)
Small seafood forks should accompany an order of oysters. We had to use our salad forks.
The dessert beignets were as good as Cafe du Mond’s in New Orleans!
We were finishing up when the live music in the bar area began. I would NOT have enjoyed hearing what sounded like mediocre wedding-band music while dining.
Since the renovations a few years ago this is our go to celebration location. We've celebrated our last two wedding anniversaries at BBI, thought it was fantastic that our waiter from the previous year remembered us a year later and came over even though we had a different server. Since last December we have gone several times this year we always have great service and love that they are willing & able to work around my allergy to black pepper! They have it all cozy quiet rooms upstairs to bustling areas around the two bars downstairs, a great outdoor space when the weather is nice & I think they have live music on most weekend evenings.
The service the entire night was outstanding, our waitress was friendly and attentive. The timing of our food between the appetizers and main meal was perfectly spaced. The food was decent but has room for improvements. The flatbread we ordered as an appetizer was not crunchy, it could have used a little longer in the oven, it was almost under-done on the dough so it was somewhat soggy. The lobster and butternut squash soup was all squash. I think someone forgot the lobster, there wasn't even a hint of it in there. The main courses were better, the NY strip was perfectly cooked and nicely charred and it was a generous size piece of meat. The pasta was flavorful and filling. We will be returning to try out other items on the menu, the excellent service alone is a reason to eat at the Blue bell Inn.
Visited for the second time after an amazing 1st was even better than I remembered food value and service simply exquisite brought my step daughter along for the ride this time she said its the best steak she had ever had to be honest its the best steak I've had too
The Blue Bell is truly a gem of a restaurant
I can't say enough good words about the blue Bell. I only wish I was a millionaire so I could eat there every meal. The wait staff is the best and the food and drink is worth every penny. Best fine dining on the east coast, period.
The wine and cocktails were excellent. Everyone enjoyed their food from risotto to steak. The chocolate cake was fantastic. A bit loud and our waiter, who had been employees at the restaurant for 5 years was quite aloof which took away from our enjoyment of the meal.
I used to go to Blue Bell Inn quite frequently a long time ago but had not been in about 20 years. I am so sorry I had stopped going! The food was just as fabulous as it always has been, the service is impeccable and the atmosphere is perfect. The new renovations make the restaurant more open and inviting. There are special rooms for special dinners or a nice little porch for having lunch. No matter if you are having lunch or dinner this is the perfect place to go. I cannot wait to go back and do their Sunday brunch. I highly recommend Blue Bell for any occasion.
We hadn't been to the Blue Bell Inn for some time since we no longer live nearby. We went for Sunday Brunch to celebrate my son's birthday and the party included our two teen-age grandchildren. We were very pleasantly surprised by the remodeled building. The brunch menu had lots of interesting choices and everyone was able to find something they liked. Everything that came to our table was excellent. The beignets and cinnamon buns were wonderful shareable starters. Our server made some good, accurate recommendations. Service was smooth, efficient and friendly. We'll be back.
This past Saturday was warm enough to eat outside, (late October), so we were able to take advantage of the beautiful patio complete with waterfall and fire pit. Our party of 6 enjoyed appetizers, entrees, desserts and specialty coffees, all of which were delicious. A pasta dish including shrimp and jumbo lump crab lightly tossed in a tomato cream sauce was outstanding, as was the warm chocolate cake for dessert. Service was excellent, and I look forward to returning soon
Our group got together on a Friday evening. Our party sat outside and then we waited and waited for a drink order. The service was very slow. The server didn’t check in on us often at all & we would have liked another round or two. Our food was delicious, but the overall experience left a bad taste in our mouth because the service was slow and it seemed like the server was preoccupied. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy/crowded, so we couldn’t understand why the service was so poor.
Our experience was excellent. We shared the fried oyster appetizer, and agreed that we’d never had better ones. One of us had the prime rib, and it was perfect. The other had the scallops, which were delicious in a sauce to die for. We enjoyed great live music in the bar area. The atmosphere is sumptuous, and the service was prompt and friendly. We look forward to our next trip to the Blue Bell Inn.
I was very disappointed with our experience at the Blue Bell Inn. My father had been there before and had great experiences. This was a special dinner on a weeknight. The reservation was honored. I put on the reservation that one of our guests was hard of hearing and we requested a quiet space. I figured this would be feasible since they have many rooms and it was a weeknight. They sat us in a quiet spot for 10 minutes. They then sat a large party right next to us. This was annoying because there were other 3 top tables in quiet spots they could have sat us figuring the other party had a reservation (it was a business group). The waitress took our order and was fine. We received the appetizer and salad in a timely fashion. But everything went super downhill from there. We had used plates sitting for a very long time. Nobody came over to us again until we finally got the waitress attention at 8:00. We sat down at 6:40. The waitress responded with a tone saying “well I was waiting for you to finish your salads.” The food has been ready and waiting for you. We were a bit confused since the used plates had been sitting there and we never requested to even delay our food. We needed to be out by 8:30. Finally the food came and my husbands meat was over cooked. He sent it back. My lamb was not good, but I didn’t want to send back as it would leave our third guest eating alone. We couldn’t wait to get out of there. For a nice restaurant, and for its price point we were very disappointed.
As I former patron of many years, was disappointed with the menu. We ordered appetizers and oysters. Drinks were fine, service was good. Blue Bell has changed a lot and I certainly wish them well. I had my wedding reception there in 1977. Those were the good friends and fun times.
Food was very good with a nice presentation, but 1 appetizer was very small and well overpriced. Four very small fried oysters for $13 as an appetizer was not a good value. Service was friendly but not detailed oriented. For example my wife was served soup but we needed to track down a server to get a soup spoon. We were never offered any refills on our non-alcoholic beverages even though we requested ice several times to add to our water glasses. One would think when the server brought the ice they would check on water. We did get refills on our water when we requested it. No one checked on how our meal was until after we completed our meal. I guess when you leave a 20% tip the server feels they did an adequate job which does not describe the level of service.
What a surprise! The inside is totally updated and fresh, and the restaurant was full. Food was absolutely delicious, everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Only comment would be it is expensive, but the quality was definitely there. Would definitely recommend!
The Blue Bell Inn is a historic treasure in our own back yard. The fact that my family has been coming to this establishment since I was a small child is no accident: Blue Bell has always been the gold standard. But the new owners breathed love and life into this worthy jewel!! The atmosphere and decor, the rooms, are just gorgeous. Brunch is outstanding!!! The food is glorious with new delicious menu items added in with the wonderful expected permanent items. There's not one item that we've tried that hasn't been 4-star; whether brunch or dinner. And to top it off, the service & staff are impeccable! They work hard to attend to your every need in that old-world customer service style that seems to be lost in this day & age. We have celebrated birthdays, golden anniversaries, baby showers, graduations, and even a wedding right here at Blue Bell Inn. I love this establishment!
We had a chance for a child-free dinner and drinks which doesn't happen too often. We had a drink at the bar before dinner, had a great martini and then a lovely quiet dinner. Everyone was friendly and professional. Our server Les was great. All the food was amazing! Our only comment through the night is that the dinner portion was a little small for the cost.
While the Blue Bell is one of the most attractive restaurants in the area the food does not meet the same standard. Portions and quality have steadily been reduced and I find appetizers to be the only reliable items on the menu. While enjoying the outdoor seating area in lovely weather, it does not make up for the very small portions and overpriced entrees. Service is inconsistent.
This visit to the Blue bell Inn was better because we did not have an encounter with the parking lot valet. We were able to park our cars without being told it was his prerogative to decide where we park.
The reservation was ready promptly, we sat outside and they readily allowed us to move to a slightly warmer table. We had great service and terrific food.
