Blue Bell Inn
In 2013, Blue Bell Inn underwent extensive renovations for over a year. Various historical aspects were enhanced through thoughtful restoration and new materials such as solid white oak and porcelain tile floors were introduced to create a stunning architectural mélange spanning three centuries.

Food was good but a few appetizers were a bit too “creative” for my taste. Fried green tomatoes may have been described as they were made but definitely not what I am used to. The soup was also not what my guest expected. Flat bread margarita was excellent as were the calimari.
Fabulous as always! We dine here often. Everything is wonderful from beginning to end, fabulous food, great service, amazing bar tenders, beautiful atmosphere.
I had ordered the lobster roll with French fries. The lobster roll was very good but very small. Only a few bites. Most of my lunch was French fries. This small lunch cost me$24 plus and I left the restaurant hungry.
A rare fine restaurant out in the wilds of semi-rural Pennsylvania. Consistently well-prepared food; a nice menu with lots of standard fare and a good number of interesting options. Lots of different options for seating (different rooms with quite different ambiance). Something to please everyone.
Our waitress, Maureen, was wonderful. She was very personable. And, knowing that it was my guest's birthday, she brought over a scoop of toasted marshmallow ice cream on the plate with a candle and Happy Birthday written in chocolate syrup. There were bad thunderstorms the day we went, so we could not sit outside. However, we had a seat right next to a window where we could still view the beautiful planters and water feature that are outside in the courtyard. I love the food and ambiance here.
Very consistent and always delicious. Service is impeccable.
Lovely as usual; the food was delicious and the service great.
Did Brunch with group. Just a bit pricey.
Outdoor seating and music at Blue Bell Inn on the Weekends always great
We were a party of four on a busy Saturday night when Fridays and Saturdays are "prime rib nights'. One of us ordered a drink with cucumber vodka. (They don't have it, yet have a huge bar.) Three of the four of us ordered prime rib. (They were out of it. It was 7:30.) One person's soup special arrived too salty to consume and yet tasteless. (We returned it. They took it off our bill.) One person's replacement meat (to the prime rib) arrived stone cold. (They took it back and brought it back properly heated.) Other folks' meats were merely ok. (We have found better quality at other restaurants for less cost.) The servers were the only thing that was good about the evening and they were delightful. (But not enough for us to return.)
Celabrated our 40th anniversary on Saturday. Had our first date at the BBI, so it was special to celabrate there after 40 years. Our server, I believe her name was Nancy, was outstanding. She was attentive, and professional with a wonderful personality and smile. We truely believe she helped make our special night even better than anticipated. Food and drinks were of the highest quality and cooked to order. Thanks to the entire staff of the Blue Bell Inn.
On a lazy Friday afternoon we were hankering for a good piece of prime rib. After considering several options, mostly chain restaurants, we decided to go all-out and choose a "real" restaurant where we would likely find the best quality beef. We hadn't been to the Blue Bell Inn for several years so we decided to give their new concept a try. We called a couple of friends who were anxious to join us. They were already at one of the bars when we arrived slurping their luscious looking martinis. The bar was in a large, handsomely appointed open room. The bartender was attentive, witty, who poured a mean cocktail and a delightful Malbec. Nearing our reservation time we noticed that the band was setting up in the small entertainment area. Wanting to have conversation with our friends we requested to be seated in a quieter area. The hostess offered one of the upstairs rooms she said was quiet. Not wanting to be relegated to the old folks room we chose a small area off the bar area that was fully occupied but not especially noisy. The menu is not overwhelming yet includes several compelling offerings in addition to the roast beef. We began our meal with the wedge salad and a delightful tray of thoroughly chilled, briny oysters. Two ordered the sea bass special and two the prime rib. Each included a variety of fresh vegetables along with a basket of artisan breads. If we had to find fault with any part of our experience that evening it would be that the prime rib, thought flavorful and tender, was cooked more medium than the medium rare requested. Prices are commensurate with the food quality. The clientele here were predominately younger though a more mature couple were first on the dance floor! We look forward to find an excuse to return here.
The food was expertly prepared. The fried oysters were crunchy on the outside and just warmed through on the inside...perfect! The halibut was cooked perfectly...moist on the inside. The mango was nice complement to the fish. I often am disappointed by overlooked fish and overpowering mango so this halibut was a standout.
The wine selection was a plus. The straight up margarita was a plus. The watermelon margarita was a minus...all rocks, not much watermelon or tequila...a waste of $13. We purposely sat in a back dining room so noise level was good for conversation. Our server was appropriately attentive. Looking forward to enjoying the outdoor area on a clear night
Friendly waitress and great food.
The food is amazing! The atmosphere is loud and tables are close together which is our only complaint.
Food was good. Service was outstanding. We’re served ice cream dessert for a birthday. Very nice.
Always impressed with the food. My father and I went and had the crab cake and cheesesteak dumplings which we have both had before and always very good. The dumplings are nice because they are different from the cheesesteak egg rolls you see everywhere now. My father had the tuna which was excellent with the sticky rice in the orange sea same glaze. I had a special filet with a homemade lobster ravioli on top underneath mashed potatoes with two different sauces - it melted in your mouth.
Loved the chateau briand and the waitresses Taylor and Lindsay were both a joy!
We had not been to Blue Bell since the make-over and were delighted with the service, the new menu and the environment. Although we were pleased with our food and enjoyed the opportunity to dine al fresco, we had requested a quiet table and were quite disappointed by the noise level due to the live music. We knew there would be music and had reiterated our request before we were seated but the matter d's understanding of quiet was definitely not in line with ours--the music was wonderful but we were celebrating a special occasion and wanted to be able to chat. It was difficult to hold a conversation due to the music. Unfortunately, it was not apparent that there were any spaces that would have been quieter.
This was our first time eating at Blue Bell Inn since it was renovated by the new owners years ago. First, I love the look of the place. It’s so modern and just gorgeous inside. Unfortunately the noise level in the main dining room is horrible. There were no large parties yet we could barely hear each other. The meal started out good with 2 very good appetizers- the calamari and the Burrato cheese. All 4 of us really enjoyed both of them. My sister and I had the Branzino and it was the best Branzino I’ve ever eaten! It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The mussels that came with it were not good. They were very chewy and tough, with little flavor. My husband and brother in law both ordered the Saturday night Prime Rib special. What a mistake! First, the presentation was awful. The prime rib was placed on top of the mashed potatoes and green beans. In fact, they forgot to even put the green beans under my brother in laws steak. The just left them off! When he asked the waiter about this they told him they would bring them to him. After asking a second time, he finally did get them. Although the Prime Rib looked really good, it was horrible. Both steaks were full of veins and were almost inedible. My husband actually gave up trying to eat it because his jaw hurt from trying to chew the tough steak. This was really disappointing, especially when you’re paying $39 for an inedible piece of meat. My brother in law complained and they offered to get him another one, but he declined. At that point it was late and he thought he would just get another bad steak.
This was a tough review to write because like I said, my Branzino was amazing. But, I can’t give a good review because two of the four diners had an inedible meal! Very disappointing.
Noise level was very loud due to an office party (approx 15 people) repeatedly standing up and making speeches. There should be a separate space for such events away from couples and families
Our wait staff were very attentive and helpful. The room got a little noisy in the main dining room, making it somewhat difficult to hear my companion. The food was enjoyable! I had 2 apps- the fried oysters and the tuna tartar which was more than enough ( couldn’t finish all of the tuna!).
Seafood is outstanding- especially Oysters and raw bar
First visit was a successful one. Food was cooked perfectly and the service was professional and timely.
Enjoyable evening with friends
Food was excellent staff was very helpful and friendly
Another delicious meal and quality service at Blue Bell Inn. Outside the sewer smell that overtook the restaurant for an hour or so, another quality evening.
We made a last-minute decision to celebrate a birthday by going out to dinner on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy and the noise level was higher than we were used to (Saturday crowds).
The service was a bit slower than normal (also due to the Saturday crowds).
Overall, the food was excellent. The soft shell crabs were the best I’ve ever eaten. Absolutely delicious. The Brussels Sprouts were great. The one complaint with the meal was the prime rib. It was an end cut, and it was tough and chewy. We typically don’t order prime rib unless we are going to a steak house, so we blame ourselves for that one. Also, since the restaurant was so busy, we did not tell the server. Everything else was so good, we didn’t see the point in upsetting the flow of our meal while he rectified that one issue.
Our dessert of Turtle Cheesecake was superb. I’d go back again, just for that.
We will definitely be returning to the Blue Bell Inn, just not on a Saturday evening.
Been here dozens of times. As always, food was excellent. Service was excellent.
Also, I highly recommend the seafood pasta and the tuna appetizer and entree’.
Great dining venue, especially outdoors, with music on weekends.
Food was well prepared and our server was outstanding.
A Special restaurant for a special occasion.
Always a favorite!
Small bday dinner was awesome
It’s always good to come to the Blue bell inn . Service is great and the food is always very good !!
Everything was great.
Fantastic seafood and great service. Perfect for special occasions.
Excellent food, excellent service !!! highly recommending dinner, outdoor seating was superb....
We always enjoy evenings at the Blue Bell Inn. The setting is masterful and diverse for all sorts of occasions. Food is predictably good and service was right on key. I hammy heart set on Calves liver, the printed Sunday special which was not available, and there was only one bottle of our wine of choice available in the house; otherwise, we may have scored it even higher. Definitely we shall be back!
Great food and good service, will go back again.
Being a regular at BBI I’ve seen many servers come and go over the past few years most of which were “good to outstanding” and I was sorry to see them go. Unfortunately my last visit was completely different. Our server, Lindsey C was the most untrained, slow and mind-numbing server I have ever experienced. Although she seemed like a sweet girl she was not at all familiar with the menu and completely oblivious to the raw bar which completely detracted from our dining experience. We will be back but will be sure to sit in a servers section we are familiar with.
Awesome service with beautiful atmosphere !
Downstairs and outside are great. The dining room upstairs was not acceptable. The burgers were good, the soft shell crab were fair. It was embarrassing that one of my party could only get half of the soft shell crab entre. They ran out which is poor planning. The manager had to apologize and had to bring a replacement dinner.
THE DINING ROOM UPSTAIRS WAS LOUD AND ALTHOUGH REMODELED WAS UNINSPIRING NEXT TO DOWNSTAIRS!
