Blue Bat Kitchen & Tequilaria
We feature fresh, global street food in a relaxed and fun environment that pairs perfectly with Milwaukee’s very first Tequilaria.
Over 160 Tequilas to try plus, Bowls, Tacos, Snacks, Salads and more await!
Being on the water made for a beautiful scene to have dinner, but the tacos were mediocre and expensive for what they were. The steak taco I ordered was really dry and definitely not worth $4.50. The house margarita for $6 was awful, but their other drinks were good. Again, not worth $12 for a cocktail, but scenery isn't free, amirite?! I probably would only go back for happy hour.
Great staff, menu, and food!
Blue Bat's biggest asset is its deck on the Milwaukee River. We dined in the evening and had a spectacular view of the River and sunset. The server was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. This was different from the hosts and others who seated us. The food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves very much. I recommend Blue Bat!
Thomas -- I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us here at Blue Bat. I do apologize for your immediate impression with our host stand. I've shared this with the team so we can address this. I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again soon!
We were pleased to revisit this location following the change from the Water Buffalo to the Blue Bat Kitchen. The wait staff was excellent. Water front seating was enjoyable. The dishes we ordered were very tasty. All in all we plan to visit again.
Thank you! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed your time with us and I hope we have the opportunity to serve you again soon.
The ambiance and service was OUTSTANDING! I ordered the Mexican street corn and brussel sprouts appetizers. The corn was excellent! The three handhelds (Bao, Baja, and FGT) I ordered were basic at best. There was a lot of bread and very little filling. And, there was nothing special about the flavors. I will be back with friends, but I will only order the corn.
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your time with us, but I'm very sorry to see your experience with our handhelds. If you're willing, I'd like to learn more! Please email me directly at eatshareenjoy@gmail
Once again, my go-to spot! Blue Bat never fails to exceed my expectations. If you haven’t tried the mmmmmm already I highly recommend the Baja and Cajun tacos!!!!
Thanks, Sabrina! I'm so happy to hear you have enjoyed your time with us. I hope we can serve you again soon. Cheers!
Dinner outside on the patio with great water view. Service and food were both very good.
Thanks, Kevin! I hope we can welcome you back again soon. Cheers!
We went for a birthday celebration. When we ordered, our drinks came right away however our appetizer did not arrive for another 50 minutes. We were not provided any reasoning for the delay. The food was great. The flavors were there and the pork belly bun and cajun tacos were delicious. However, it took a total of 3 hours for us to get 5 tacos and 2 appetizers.
I cannot recommend this restaurant due to how terrible the service was. Our waiter, charlie, was fine but management didnt seem bothered that everyone was waiting unnecessarily too long to get cold food. We can understand a bit of a backlog but 3 hours is a waste of our time and money.
Blue Bat really needs to re-evaluate how their staff is managed and focus more on efficiency. I cannot imagine any repeat customers will come back from tonight, including us. This is not the way to run a restaurant even if the food and decor are impressive.
I made reservations 3 days ahead. I requested a seat outdoors. When we arrived, 15 minutes early, we were told they don’t honor outdoor seating requests and there would be a 45 minute wait for outdoors. There were 2 empty tables outside for the 15 minutes that we were waiting. We were told that those tables were for people on the waiting list for the outdoors. The 6 place table was never seated the whole time we were there! Very disappointed!
We chose to eat indoors. It was very crowded and very noisy. Waitress took quite awhile but eventually she was there.
Appetizers were very good: Brussels sprouts and the cheese dip with bag of chips. Served without utensils and no plates -eventually got utensils, plates never showed up. Margaritas were supposedly served with large ice cube. When our friends got theirs, they were out of large ice cube. So therefore served without any ice! Handables were for most part very good esp. the fish and the chicken. The steak was dry and tasteless. Salmon bowl was enjoyed by our companion.
Overall the food was good and reasonably priced. Not sure I could recommend the service or the host/hostess hospitality.
Hi Catherine -- I'm very sorry for the frustration caused with the outdoor seating. We absolutely should have communicated this with you prior to your arrival. We do hold a wait list for our outdoor tables with guests in the restaurant. They often prefer to finish a cocktail at the bar before they are seated, which I completely understand can be visually confusing for guests who would prefer to sit there. We owe you a do-over. Please email me at eatshareenjoy@gmail. Thank you.
I love Blue Bat! Perfect place to catch up with friends or go on a date. Margs and Tacos are amazing and good any day of the week!
I've eaten at The Blue Bat several times, and am always pleased by the quality of food, and service. My only issue is that because of the structure, the noises echo and can make it hard to hear people at your table at times, but otherwise, I have no complaints. I will definitely be coming back to this place again!
We came for dinner during a bachelorette party and our service and food was great. The bachelorette got a free tequila shot and the rest of us joined her. It was the best tequila I had ever had!
We took some business associates, sat on the patio. Great views, great service and the food was awesome. Only noise issue was a boat that pulled up and blasted their stereo when they left the boat sitting alone. Not the restaurants fault, just an odd occurrence.
Awesome place and amazing food the also accept dogs and they do a excellent job making sure your fur baby has water to stay hydrated. Can’t wait to go back
Blue Bat is a fabulous dining experience...especially sitting outside on the river on a nice summer evening. The food is fantastic...do not miss the grilled Brussels sprout appetizer...delicious hand held tacos and then yummy ice cream trio for dessert. Just awesome!!
Way too noisy; food... very average, very good server... drinks good
Service was very slow for a simple 2 person meal. The restaurant was not fully occupied. It took an extremely long period of time to get waters, the. Wait to order, then wait for food, then wait for bill.
Bathroom was dirty. One stall was out of order, the other had an enormous spider web over it. Trash spilling out of trash can. When I informed the hostesses she was quite blase about it.
At a higher price point for tacos there are better options.
This was my first visit, for lunch with 2 clients. The staff was very friendly & attentive, and food was great. Ample seating makes this a great lunchtime option during the work week.
Overall we loved the food and drinks and thought it was a good value! Maybe we were just there on a bad night, (July 5) but service was poor from the time we checked in and throughout dinner. We were early for our reservation and were told we'd be seated in 10 minutes so we went to the bar to wait. After 20 mins I checked back in and it seemed apparent that they had forgotten about us. We were seated right then however. When we ordered it took well over 30 minutes to get our appetizer of chips, salsa and guac. I was told there was a back-up because the chips are made fresh. It's a taco place, seems like they should have that part figured out. It then took another 30 minutes to get 4 tacos and a salad. We kept being told that the kitchen was backed up because they were so busy. They weren't. There were empty tables all around. In summary, maybe we just caught them on a bad night. The food was great and we'll definitely be back! If it weren't for the service it would have been 4.5 or 5 stars.
Tried all the tacos, they were delicious!
The food and drinks were outstanding! The service was slow. From the host at the front stand down to the waitress we had. The only person that seemed to have a sense of urgency was the food runner.
Great as usual!! Great date spot on the river
The food is always amazing. Took a bit long for my apps to come though. Drinks were to die for as always. Overall, great experience.
I went to Blue Bat with my friends for a bachelorette party. Our reservation was at 7:30. We ordered appetizers right away and it took at least 45 minutes for them to come. We all ordered dinner as well. Dinner probably didn’t come until about 8:40 or 8:45. They didn’t seem to notice or apologize for how long the food took. When the food came, all the tacos for 5 different people were mixed together on one platter ‘family style’. I don’t understand why each person would not have their own plate. It wasn’t obvious which taco was which and seemed unnecessarily complicated. I also didn’t have a plate left to eat my tacos on since I used it for my appetizer. The server wasn’t very friendly and seemed annoyed when she realized there was the wrong amount of tacos on the plate (We were missing one of one specific type). We sat near an open window which was cold. Another member of the party asked her to close it. This still took another 10 minutes to do and we had to ask twice. It was not crazy busy so I’m not sure why everything was so slow. Also, when I made the reservation I included that we were coming for a bachelorette party (since it asked if there was a celebration) and I was surprised this wasn’t acknowledged at all. I mean it was pretty obvious because we all had shirts making it clear what we were doing. Overall, it took about two hours and I left hungry, but didn’t feel I could order more because it would take an hour. The tacos were awesome but the service was bad. Water buffalo was much better.
Blue Bat is a gem...fabulous global street food...fun restaurant...nice servers...easy on your wallet too!
Tequila is on point! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing. If back in Milwaukee it’ll be a definite visit again.
It took a while for a server to come over and see us (10-15 minutes). But after that service was pretty good. Food was great.
Everything was great from the drinks, service and food. Always enjoy going to this restaurant!
Food was good. Service was good. Kitchen got a little slow.
Chips were not seasoned enough. Corn was way too burnt. And tacos were just ok.
Both food and service were excellent. Had the watermelon salad which had a very nice balance of spices that made for a very enjoyable lunch.
LOVED the brussel sprouts - they're absolutely delicious! The service was good; however our server is a smoker and wafted smoke every time she came to our table. It was a dilemma - you want the server to check in, but you also wanted her to go away.
Fun variety of tequilas to sample and great food! Ideal for sharing plates. All agreed that the chips/salsa/guacamole were outstanding. Service from the waitress Sarah and bartender -I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name-were awesome. We were a group of 6 being silly before the NKOTB concert and the bartender was so great, even getting us cinnamon and oranges to do with a tequila shot before we left. We will be back!
BBK was an enjoyable experience. The setup for the restaurant is great! They really maximize the space and provide a good dining and happy hour experience. I enjoyed the poke salad! There was a generous portion of tuna and the choice of dressing was perfect. Their snow cone flavors are really good and adding a shot of booze to it really makes for the perfect addition. I will definitely be back.
Excellent service. Food was great. Staff very accommodating. We will be back
Very good Blue Bat Margaritas, baja tacos, fundiddos, and great service by Brandon. We will be back.
Can't wait to go back. Waiter was helpful with menu questions. The outside patio was an exceptional way to enjoy the weather and view.
Amazing tacos! 160 tequilas to choose from. Very unique flavors. A definite gem!
The food was nothing special. The house margarita, for a place that prides itself in tequila, was average and quite tart. Overall, not likely a place I’d go back to.
