Blue Bamboo Hip Asian Kitchen
Wonderful food and great environment
Three of us from the Jacksonville Women’s Network Met for a monthly lunch. We like Blue Bamboo because of its central location, relatively quiet atmosphere, and excellent food. All of us were very pleased with our food selections and I love the iced teas with “tea cubes”. Service was friendly although a bit slow at times. But overall, we were pleased with our decision to meet at Blue Bamboo.
We go to Blue Bamboo a few times a month and are never disappointed.
We've gone four times in the past two years and it's always good. I get the Vietnamese tra fish and it's fantastic. Two at our table got the szechuan stir fry and said it was delicious.
Crab rangoon and the lettuce wraps are the perfect appetizer.
I recommend for the desert their orange cake.
We'll definitely go back again.
Excellent food as always, great spot for a business lunch.
Great service, nice atmosphere, appetizers were great, main dishes were good.
I was looking forward to dining here. We were a party of 2. We ordered 2 cocktails and my husband told server we were not in a hurry. However, she kept asking for our order. ( 4 or 5 times in 4 minutes of us sitting). We ordered Sampler app & Ribs & Shrimp Fried Rice. App was good. Ribs were served Luke warm at best & tough...Rice had no flavor .
Because of the cost I would not give it another try. I don't like low end food for high cost.
Really enjoyed it once again! Party of six, all were happy with food and service.
We were there for Mothers Day. The chicken pot pie was pretty to look at, but white sauce had no taste and veggies were undercooked. The tuna was good. Prices were too expensive for what we got.
Absolutely awesome. Chef Dennis Chan is so creative.
We went there for mother’s day brunch and the special orange cake they have and we were blown away all of our meals were great my mother had the chicken & waffles my fiancé had the Bro tans chicken stir fry and I had the honey seared ahi tuna all of our dishes were extremely delicious. For dessert we shared a slice of the famous orange cake and it definitely lived up to the hype. The cake was so good that we bought a whole one to take to go.
Our server Heather was friendly knowledgeable of the menu and was an excellent server especially since we had never been to the Blue Bamboo before.
10/10 would recommend and we can wait to go back!
The dumpling sampler was killer, the rangoon and the fried dumpling.... I had the spare ribs and my lady had the sweet and sour chicken both excellent, first time in and I will definitely be back too many items to try. Thank you Chef Dennis!
Always at the top of their game, Blue Bamboo Hip Asian Kitchen.
We found Blue Bamboo recently on a whim. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Wife wanted to return on Saturday evening and we made reservations.
Ordered appetizer of Crab Rangoon’s ( I believe they make these on site) which we had previously and found it to be the best we ever had, this time around we believe they forgot the crab as it tasted like cream cheese and a touch of onion.
Ordered Curry Soup- neither of us liked it found to to be void of flavor.
We then ordered the sample platters that had shu mai, pork dumplings, Pablo tomatoe etc.... Dumpling and shu mai we still frozen.
I had general tsos chicken and it was fine
Wife had the red curry stir fry she had so enjoyed previously only to find it not close to the same as she enjoyed previously.
We will probably return as I believe all restaurants have off nights on occasion. I just wonder why the two times we’ve gone it’s not as busy as I would expect it to be.
was recommended here, hadn't been in many years. menu looked good but pricy online. pleasant greeting quick seating, spartan monochrome ambiance. tasty edamame spread, my S/O not a fan. fried red tomatoes, good S/O said best in town!! she had the red curry shrimp with grit cakes, velvety sauce crunchy hot cakes and good simple shrimp with peppers and onions. I had the beef Szechwan the spice level increased the more I ate, very nice. Frank suggested to orange cake, as it had won an award in the past 5 months. Christmas time I thought? was it a major award? is it fra-gil-e? reference lost or unappreciated. We had it. phyllo dough layered in the cake topped with candy almond brittle topping. it was good. will we go back? Might be a while, $85 no booze...ymmv
Always amazing. Dennis Chan is a great chef and a wonderful host
Great ingredients and super preparation and presentation. Everyone in our group was impressed and wants to come back to try other items on the menu.
Our first time here. They were extremely busy and short on staff. Our server Holly did a good job. We will be back.
Great Asian cuisine and very helpful staff. Chef Dennis has created a great place to relax and enjoy the food!
Delicious and friendly attentive service! As always!
Not our best dining experience - restaurant was having problems with electrical system (which staff advised us of when we arrived but we chose to stay) so a/c was cutting on & off (they still had lights, refrigeration & cooking capabilities) but there was a constant beeping when power would go off which was annoying & restaurant seemed very noisy. Restaurant staff were extremely apologetic & provided good service & delicious food. Electricians were arriving when we left so hopefully they were able to fix the problem.
We were very happy all around with this restaurant. They were accommodating to our expanding reservation, the waitstaff was very flexible with our chatty group. The food...oh my god the food...everything was so fresh and vibrant in taste. Not a single dish we tasted disappointed. I'll pass on the recommendation to try the dragon whiskers...amazing!
My go to place for always good food. Mika is my favorite server. She always greats us with a smile and knows our drink orders! Dennis (owner & chef) comes out to greet patrons which is nice and is super friendly. Love this place.
Simply outstanding meal !!
Food was ok.... not as described in the menu and fairly tasteless however the prices were outrageously high for the food quality
My expectations for the Blue Bamboo, 'hip Asian kitchen', was fueled by the desire to experience good food in a nice surrounding with my family. The interior was modern and minimalist, the wait staff attentive and interactive; the food I could get at Chan's for a lot less and better quality. I was disappointed at their rendition of an egg roll; an ethnic standard for every culture that makes them. I can and have done better myself at home. There are no other comments about the food that I can say other than drop the hype, and concentrate on the taste.
Chef/Owner Dennis Chan operates and excellent, casual, fine dining restaurant!
Outstanding food and service. Very creative. Best in Jacksonville by far.
Walls could use some art.
I’ve been in FL now eight years and this was the absolute best meal I have had here. There are a couple of restaurants and clubs where I think the food is good but this was exceptional!
This was our first time eating at the Blue Bamboo. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Will definitely eat here again.
This dining experience never disappoints! So happy Blue Bamboo is in Jacksonville!
Disappointing visit- two ingredients were missing from my pan-fried noodle dish, and my husband's tuna was not the best quality.
Never had a bad experience at Blue Bamboo. Excellent food and service.
Love the atmosphere and appreciate the low noise level. Food is always delicious.
As always, a great meal with Chef Dennis never disappointing. Was wonderfully crowded Saturday night as more and more foodies discover this amazing restaurant.
Wonderful restaurant that takes Asian cuisine to the next level. Wonderful service, nice atmosphere and delicious food. Definitely a must visit!
I went to Blue Bamboo a restaurant that I enjoy and will go to again. The only mishap was their fryers were down. However the staff was extremely helpful. And who can complain when they have to eat a little healthier than expected. I have the spareribs with the only slaw I actually like. Instead of fries I had broccoli. My overall experience was nice.
Very unique! Where else are you going to get Chinese southern fusion food! A must go!
Blue Bamboo is the best restaurant in Jacksonville! The food is amazing and they have wonderful service.
