BLT Steak - Waikiki Ratings and Reviews
Wow! So glad we tried this place. We eat at Ruth’s Chris often and love their steaks- the steak we had here was better. They serve it with three sauces on the side but we didn’t use them. They had some wines on the list that were not too expensive- we got one for$38. The salmon was also excellent, crusty on the outside and so tender on the inside. The bread is popovers which I find kind of tasteless, though I love the texture. They serve them with whipped butter and salt and so they were yummy. Our server was great , Andrew. The squash soup was good, for squash soup. I wished I had gotten the oysters. Everything was delicious! Recommend it highly.
On vacation here in Waikiki and we can’t stop talking our experience at BLT!
We have been to what is considered some of the best steak houses but BLT rivals them all and exceeds most!
We started the evening with delicious cocktails - the perfect blue cheese olive Belvedere martini and an outstanding Woodford Reserve cocktail 🍸🥃
We shared the Porterhouse after the tuna tartare appetizer and we can’t get over how delicious it was. It was cooked perfectly. The seasoning was like nothing we ever tasted before. Alone or topped with the roasted garlic and one of the outstanding sauces it was melt in your mouth delicious. The staff was extremely accommodating and kind and treated us very well down to the complementary sweets at the end of the meal. Wonderful experience!
We expected a lot more from a “high end” steakhouse. Service was certainly not up to that label. We were greeted quickly at the bar beforehand, then the bartender didn’t come back for quite some time despite the bar and restaurant not being very busy. Once seated, it didn’t improve much. Our waiter couldn’t manage a smile the entire time we were there and we had difficulty getting his attention multiple times. The complimentary amuse bouche was a nice touch, but it would help if they mentioned what it was. We had to flag down another waiter to ask. We’d heard about the complimentary turnovers and when we asked our waiter about them he said someone must have forgotten them but he would get them right away. We split a Caesar salad. It was okay but the dressing was too salty for our taste and a bit watery. Just before our steaks arrived we got the turnovers which were very good. They also give you a little card with the recipe on it. My New York steak was cooked just right and very good as was my wife’s filet. We split hash browns which are served in a little cast iron pan and looked like they would be crispy and good. Unfortunately, they were chewy, not crispy, and tasted like the oil wasn’t fresh. We didn’t save room for dessert, but they did bring three little brownie bites at the end of the meal which were pretty good. The little complimentary touches are nice, but I think it would be better if they focused on service a little more. The best service was from the runners/server assistants who were much more friendly and attentive. For a meal costing $220 plus tip, with two cocktails each, it certainly didn’t meet our expectations.
Very noisy. Not good for conversation. The tables are positioned too close to each other. The food was over seasoned and heavy-handed on the salt. This meant we could not discern the quality of the meat because the seasonings too strongly overpowered its natural flavors. Perhaps it was just an off night for the kitchen crew. Happy we had the opportunity to try this restaurant. We are certain they will continue to improve. Our waiter was wonderful!
Best Butter Fish I have ever tasted. My husband ordered the filet and said it was outstanding. Service was impeccable. The restaurant is situated on a very busy corner, so the noise level from street and inside the restaurant is loud.
It was a great experience overall. Our server was very pleasant as were her assistance. The GM also dropped by and table to check in and was very gracious and knowledgeable. The ambiance and food were top shelf! Will certainly put this on our rotation next time we're in Honolulu, which is saying something as we also experienced some other very good "locally" owned restaurants as well.

Dreadful Dinner at BLT.
We eat here every year when we come to Honolulu. This most recent visit was a massive disappointment-we won't be back.
Upon checking in for our 6:30 reservation, the hostess asked us to take a seat until we could be shown to our table. No problem, but super annoying to have to wait 10 minutes when the restaurant was half-empty.
The Kampachi Roll was utterly flavorless and devoid of any visual appeal. If you love rice, you'll love this roll.
The Buratta & Tomato appetizer should have been foolproof...but, they couldn't be bothered to trim the core from the tomato slices. Beyond belief!
The Bone-In Ribeye was medium instead of the medium-rare that was ordered. Not a great ribeye and very poorly trimmed. Fragments of bone were part of this steak. Terrible quality for BLT. I average two bone-in ribeyes per week so I know what I'm talking about. Sad.
At least the roasted bulb of garlic was scrumptious.
The Butter Fish was truly bizzare. It had the texture of mush. Not flaky, not delicate, not silky, it was MUSH. Quite unsettling - not sure if I should have eaten it. I almost forgot, my spouse found a lovely 1-inch bone in the less-than-winning Butter Fish dish. On a positive note, the puréed potatoes were fab.
We skipped dessert and went to Haagen-Dazs to clean our palettes.
I made a reservation here because we were staying at the Trump Hotel and had dined at the BLT Steak Restaurant in New York City. The dinner in NYC was outstanding. We live in the San Franciaco Bay Area and have many great Steak houses. It was a mistake to dine here. We ordered a local rib eye on the special chalkboard menu. The bone-in rib eye would have been $63 on the regular menu, but the "local" rib eye was $155. We assumed it would be fantastic. The first indication we had that it was tough is that we had to ask for a steak knife that would cut through the steak. The server offered to have the steak cut in the kitchen. It did not improve the steak. The wine menu was quite extensive but not served with care. We ordered glasses of an Italian Super Tuscan. It was cold, should have been opened earlier to breathe and was not exceptional. I do not mind spending money on a good dinner if the food and wine live up to the prices - like the dinner in New York. This was the most disappointing dinner we had in Hawaii. Save your money and eat somewhere else.
