BLT Steak DC Ratings and Reviews
Went here Saturday night for the first time out table @7:45 was not ready so we had a great cocktail at the bar the bartender was really sweet and offered to put our drink on our dinner menu , we ordered the jumbo shrimp for a starter and they were amazing ! Four per order . We really enjoyed the warm popovers they serve when you are seated . I had the steak 12 oz and shared it with my husband we also got fries and asparagus for sides . The service was excellent very attentive and professional. We will definitely be Back ! Get the Apple cobbler for desert
We had a great night out at BLT. Everyone we interacted with was a pleasure, from the host to our server and the managers. We tried several things and none of them disappointed. Their pate and popovers are great treats they send you to begin. Excellent restaurant, highly recommend.
The BLT Steak that used to be in the W Atlanta, where I went often, was warm, relaxing, and inviting. But, it closed a year ago — maybe that wasn’t what people were seeking. I was looking forward to visiting this one, but the experiences couldn’t have been more different. There’s little danger of this one going under — it was packed. I will say the food and the drinks were terrific, and the service was highly efficient even if it had a little edge to it. But the room was just cacaphonous and the atmosphere could have been that of any other high volume faux luxury restaurant anywhere. I wouldn’t return if I were with anyone with whom I actually wanted to have a conversation.
I'm normally a huge BLT fan, but tonight was off. We had to push our reservation a couple of times because I was hosting an event prior to dinner that kept running long and the staff at BLT was very accommodating and understanding. Unfortunately it wasnt a great experience when we got there. We were seated at a table right by the door that was pretty chilly and had a lot of foot traffic. Unfortunately that foot traffic wasn't our waiter. What is normally an exceptional experience was marred by slow response and delivery. The food was good overall but we had a couple of complaints about the temperature of the steaks, they were just a bit off. At the end of the meal we paid, splitting the large check among three people. We went to walk out and were summoned back in by the staff because they messed up the check and we had to wait for them to straighten it out.
All in all not awful just not up to their usual standards. Unfortunately we had a couple of new visitors who are steak house lovers and they were a little disappointed with the experience for the cost. I had talked it up and it was not the best this go round.
BLT never disappoints. Whether for lunch or dinner, I have taken friends, out of town guests and business colleagues and all with good reviews. My favorite lunch item is the steak salad which is fantastic. Any steak for dinner is a winner. And everyone loves the turnovers!
BLT is normally a very good steak, good sides, and good service- although the popovers were warm and delicious, this meal was not great (tuna was just not very well cooked or prepared- uneven, steak was unspectacular, brussel sprouts were overcooked) slow service, and a wait staff that did not care. Lots of places to go in Washington for fair food that's overpriced, cannot imagine BLT will stick around if it becomes another one.
We had a marvelous time. The food was out of this world, their steaks are some of the best I've ever had. The service was phenomenal. We had several people taking care of us at all times, all we had to do was look up and someone came right over. Very attentive. Their desserts were also delicious. We will return soon!
BLT’s Thanksgiving meal was impressively good, whether it was the tenderness and moisture of the turkey to the perfect taste and composition of the stuffing. And then there was the sweet potato gratin, which I had to forcibly stop myself from ordering more of. The staff was extremely helpful in choosing the perfect red to go with this delicious meal.
Though the restaurant was more than half empty at lunch, our waiter was not very attentive. I ordered a cocktail, and when our appetizer arrived and still no drink, I had to flag down the waiter. (He did apologize for the long delay and took it off the bill.) After a great meal, we wanted coffee. No waiter..he was in the dining room, just not near us. By the time we finally got this attention (10-15 minutes?), We decided not to wait for coffee.
That was at a $100 lunch for 2.
Excellent date night dinner. Got the porterhouse for 2, which was good, but so big that you'll want to consider ordering it one doneness level below normal. We got it medium rare and by the time we got to finishing it, the cast iron serving dish (super hot) had cooked it to nearly medium.
The truffle mashed potatoes are something I'll dream about, absolutely out of this world.
The cocktails, wine list, and deserts were great.
Prep yourself for a heafty bill though, especially if you want to get a bottle of wine.
The steak is good if you like a char on your steak, if that's not your thing, you might want to elect a different steakhouse. Overall, still an exceptional dinner.
It gets no better than BLT. Despite all of the new restaurants that have opened in DC, BLT is still as good if not better than any of them. The cuisine is always consistently delicious. The service here is what other restaurants aspire to. They cater to your needs, and really go out of their way to make you feel special. A classic DC restaurant.
Superb dining experience. Everything was 5 stars- food service and ambience. Their popovers are insanely good. The staff was fantastic. They really went out of their way to make us feel special. Can't say enough good things. Will return the first chance I get.
We loved BLT! It was a little noisy, but not in a bad way. They had a big bar crowd and most tables were full. You wouldn't be able to tell from the service- it was spot on! Their popovers came out steaming hot, and it was all deliciousness from there on out. Their peanut butter mousse dessert is sinfully good.
As a veteran, we participated in BLT Steak's Veteran's Day promotion. BLT Steak provided an extremely generous discount for veterans, which included food and beverage. I cannot adequately express how grateful we were to receive this wonderful benefit. A special thank-you to BLT Steak for their generosity!
Now for the food. The popovers provided were super light and tasty. They are especially delicious if some of the pate served almost upon arrival is used as a spread. For appetizers, we had the Smoked Bacon and the Crab Cake. Both appetizers were tasty, and could make lunch entrees along with sides. Our entrees were the "Cowboy Rib Steaks." Each was superb, cooked to perfection, and served with optional house made sauces. Their Mac & Cheese was tremendous. The chef had no problem substituting sautéd spinach instead of the offered "Creamed Spinach." The desserts: Apple Cobbler w/Vanilla Ice Cream and Mini Doughnuts w/Chocolate Sauce & Coffee Ice Cream were standouts.
The service was absolutely superb. This was incredible, especially considering the restaurant was virtually at full capacity.
The restaurant was empty when we were seated and it took the waiter over 20 minutes to come to the table and take a drink order and then it took 15 minutes to get them delivered. The water service was amazing! The quality of the the food was poor. I hadn’t been to BLT for over a year and I wanted to impress a client. I won’t be going back soon.
