BLT Steak DC Ratings and Reviews
Excellent date night dinner. Got the porterhouse for 2, which was good, but so big that you'll want to consider ordering it one doneness level below normal. We got it medium rare and by the time we got to finishing it, the cast iron serving dish (super hot) had cooked it to nearly medium.
The truffle mashed potatoes are something I'll dream about, absolutely out of this world.
The cocktails, wine list, and deserts were great.
Prep yourself for a heafty bill though, especially if you want to get a bottle of wine.
The steak is good if you like a char on your steak, if that's not your thing, you might want to elect a different steakhouse. Overall, still an exceptional dinner.
We loved BLT! It was a little noisy, but not in a bad way. They had a big bar crowd and most tables were full. You wouldn't be able to tell from the service- it was spot on! Their popovers came out steaming hot, and it was all deliciousness from there on out. Their peanut butter mousse dessert is sinfully good.
As a veteran, we participated in BLT Steak's Veteran's Day promotion. BLT Steak provided an extremely generous discount for veterans, which included food and beverage. I cannot adequately express how grateful we were to receive this wonderful benefit. A special thank-you to BLT Steak for their generosity!
Now for the food. The popovers provided were super light and tasty. They are especially delicious if some of the pate served almost upon arrival is used as a spread. For appetizers, we had the Smoked Bacon and the Crab Cake. Both appetizers were tasty, and could make lunch entrees along with sides. Our entrees were the "Cowboy Rib Steaks." Each was superb, cooked to perfection, and served with optional house made sauces. Their Mac & Cheese was tremendous. The chef had no problem substituting sautéd spinach instead of the offered "Creamed Spinach." The desserts: Apple Cobbler w/Vanilla Ice Cream and Mini Doughnuts w/Chocolate Sauce & Coffee Ice Cream were standouts.
The service was absolutely superb. This was incredible, especially considering the restaurant was virtually at full capacity.
The restaurant was empty when we were seated and it took the waiter over 20 minutes to come to the table and take a drink order and then it took 15 minutes to get them delivered. The water service was amazing! The quality of the the food was poor. I hadn’t been to BLT for over a year and I wanted to impress a client. I won’t be going back soon.
Great steak, great menu, popovers are incredible! Came here for 40th Birthday and we had a blast! Porterhouse was okay. I would probably get the Ribeye next time instead. I would also skip the stuffed mushrooms-ours were a little cold and didn't really like them. However, the steak was good, creamed spinach yummy and popovers SO GOOD!
This is as good a restaurant as you will find in Washington DC. The customer service was excellent, and the food was a hit. Their popovers and pate were a great way to start, and they have a wide variety of appetizers to begin. Their steaks are well seasoned and grilled with a beautiful char on the outside. Service is first rate. Some of the best Ive had anywhere, and at any price point. Well done.
The popovers were burnt, sides were asparagus, sprouts, Mac and creamed spinach.
Asparagus was over cooked, mac was just boring.
Ordered the ÑY Strip w/au poivre sauce - the sauce was the worst I’ve ever had, and the sand could be said for the steak.
I️ took 2 bites and refused to eat any more.
Will not return, do not recommend.
Poor attention to detail eg ice mixed with dessert in to go box. Calling me on phone to see if I’m coming to restraunt when I’m already there . No knife to cut meat, steak tough. Just no attentive to little things that should be done well at this price point.
BLT in a word? Awesome. They're packed every time I come, so obviously it's no secret. Always very consistent. Try their Top Cap and Dover Sole, which is the best I've ever had. There is a lot of steak houses in DC and BLT rises above all of them. Bourbon Steak/Joes/The Palm/Del Frisco, none really measure up in my opinion.
This is high-end steakhouse located next to the White House. Highly recommend. They have a wonderful assortment of seafood and appetizers in addition to classic steakhouse cuts and sides. They offer a nice twist on things with a complimentary pate and cheese popovers which were a hit. Service was excellent. Informative, attentive and sincere to boot. Would be thrilled to come again. BLT is definitely a winner.
Food great - but the service was so so so slow. It made us anxious when we should have just been enjoying the wonderful food. Also super noisy so if you want to be able to have a quiet conversation - not the place for you. But wonderful drinks and the food was yummy.
Food and service we SPECTACULAR. Somewhat expected at this price point, but not always received in other establishments. Cowboy steak and filet were cooked to perfection-amazing flavor. The popovers (always a treat) and truffle mashed potatoes were delicious as was the carrot cake. Add a good bottle of Tuscan and great company....you have the perfect evening. HIGHLY recommend....consistently excellent start to finish.
The food was very good. The service and the noise level left a lot to be desired. It took 20 minutes for our bottle of wine to be served. We were brought incorrect wine glasses and it took another ten minutes to receive the correct ones. The staff definitely needs more training.
BLT has generally been a solid 'go to' spot, but on this occasion, I was sorely disappointed, as were my business guests.
From the time we sat down, in 15 minutes (I kid you not) we had 5 different personnel ask if we were ready to order, 3 before we even got our beverages. Annoying to say the least. One guest said, 'Anxious to turn the table I see'
The lobster salad was really poor. I was so surprised. Felt like we got the bottom of the salad bowl. Greens were random, too chopped and bitter. The other guest said 'Not quite as advertised'
All in all, first bad experience at BLT. If I have another, I will make sure all my friends know. For the $$, this time was definitely not worth it
TLDR: great steaks and cocktails - a bit pricey, but good. Excellent for my hubby's birthday :-)
The restaurant looks like a standard steakhouse - dark paneling and clean white tablecloths. The one hung I don't like are the fake flowers on the tables, no good.
The starters: popovers were gigantic, but extremely delicious. They come complete with butter and huge salt shaker - which you will need to properly consume these things.
The drink: I had the seasonal apple cider cocktail, which tasted delicious, but was a bit small for the price.
The appetizer sweet potatoe gnocchi was to die for. Even though this place is by no means Italian. I was hesitant at first, but was glad that I listened to the waiter.
The 12 oz fillet, Brussels sprouts, truffle mashed, and branzino were all TOP NOTCH.
For my husband's birthday, they provided him with a free dessert. The Apple crisp thing was tasty. They ALSO brought us mini brownies that were so good that I could have eaten the plate they came on lol - but by that time I was so full, I almost burst.
Overall a very good high end steakhouse experience with excellent staff and atmosphere. I'll be back as soon as I can.
