BLT Steak DC Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful meal and experience at BLT DC. Shortly after we were seated, the manager asked if we would mind moving our two-person party from a four top to two a two seat table. We happily obliged and for our “trouble” were comp’ed our appetizer and sides. It was a very generous move for no inconvenience on our part.
Ate here on Sat Feb 10 with a reservation. Table not ready for about 10 minutes which was okay. After being seated our first course seemed to take forever to arrive. The wait for the main course was worse. After I asked the waiter to check on our dinner order our steaks were delivered in about 5 minutes. The waiter told us the steaks would be comped due to the delay which was very nice. As soon as we cut into our filets, however, we found them to be tough and sinewy- not what you should have in a filet. This was our third visit to this restaurant during the last 3 or 4 years; it will be our last. We’ve eaten in the BLT in White Plains, NY and -although very noisy- found the food to be good. We’ve also eaten in Other steakhouses such as Morton’s and the Capital Grille in various cities dozens of times. In that context our experience at the DC BLT was absolutely the poorest food and service.
A colleague and I were unwinding from a week of meetings in DC. Before heading home we wanted to decompress and enjoy a great steak dinner. That’s just what we got at BLT. We asked for a table in a quiet corner so that we could talk and collaborate. We got that. The service and attention was outstanding and consistent throughout the meal. We each has fillets and we shared creamed spinach. All we excellent.
We had a great dinner here. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked into the restaurant. The giant popovers they give you are the best! Our server gave us some great recommendations and wines to drink with them. Wonderful service and steaks. Cant wait to return!
My first time...my daughter recently engaged; my treat for her and fiancé--everything was absolutely delicious! The service was impeccable! Aziz was especially wonderful assisting with a special request--THANK YOU.
I will say that if you want "cozy" or romantic; it's not the place--it was a bit loud; I thought it might be more quiet since it was a Wednesday evening, it wasn't. We still enjoyed the experience. And I was a bit disappointed at the serving size of the mashed potatoes; so small that I asked the servicer if it was "grated cheese?!" I ordered it thinking that we would share it--we ended up doing so; fortunately between just me and my daughter, there would not have been enough if my future son-in-law had wanted to partake.
All in all, we had a most delicious meal; enjoyed the courteousness and professionalism of the wait staff; and the complementary champagne and dessert provided for my daughter's upcoming nuptials. Thanks again, EVERYONE!!
The overall experience was good. The drinks were great and the complimentary pate and popovers were delicious. We ordered a crab cake appetizer and that was average. We ordered a porterhouse for 2 as an entree and it was cooked perfectly, but needed a sauce. The sides were tasty and just executed well.
When you combine delicious food with outstanding service you are in for a hell of a fine meal. My husband and I have dined here a few times and each time we are wowed by the wonderful experience. There are many fine dining establishments in DC but when given the choice we will return to BLT Steak, it's just that good.
I went to BLT for a birthday dinner and was hoping for a great experience based on reviews. Our reservation was for 7:30 on Wednesday night. We sat near the bar and it was extremely loud. To the point it was hard to have a conversation. The service was fine - our server had a tendency to disappear and we would end up waiting and hoping he would come back around. The food was fine - our popovers weren't fully cooked, the sides were okay, the meat was good. Everything about this restaurant was fine. It was not spectacular. We were not blown away by the service or quality of food. For the cost, you can get an exceptional meal and excellent service at Ruths Chris. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone because you could go get a similar meal at any other DC restaurant and pay a fraction of the price.
The food was excellent and the service was attentive (but unobtrusive), and knowledgeable. I paid $90 for the Wagyu top cap, and it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, but they covered the portion with a spicy chimi-churri that while very tasty, I would not expect to find on top of a quality steak. The point is to enjoy the steak's flavor, not the spicy sauce, no? My suggestion would be to put the sauce on the side, or at least note that the steak came with a topping - which I don't believe was mentioned on the menu, or by the server - so that one would have the choice of declining it. Also, at the recommendation of the server, we had the lemon meringue blueberry tart for dessert. It was the special, and it was pretty bad. The tart was sour and it was paired with a sour lemon sorbet. Sour with more sour. Not yummy. Next time we're going to be less adventurous and stick to the chocolate cake, or chocolate... whatever. Much safer. Having said that, my wife and I had a great meal, and a great time.
The staff was very nice. A great place if you are trying to have a very fancy dinner. Everything is very expensive - probably the most expensive place I've eaten but the food was very delicious (& I don't mind spending money for great food!). I went for my Birthday with my boyfriend. We shared the filet (about 50$ / 12 oz) - the server seemed kind of annoyed we were sharing the steak but we normally don't eat any more than 8 oz filet when we go out anyway - so it was kind of weird - they didn't offer a smaller filet. We also ordered 2 sides (creamed spinach & truffle mashed), Caesar salads to start which where pretty large for a side salad (which was good because they were each 14$). We -also got the Strawberry sundae for dessert - with a candle of course!
We really had a great time and a great meal for my birthday! The manager and everyone wished me a happy birthday & checked on us multiple times.
I would recommend this place if you have the money to spend on a very fancy meal!! Very fancy and delicious.
I frequently eat dinner at BLT and the experience, food and staff are always topnotch! Special shoutouts to our wonderful server Marco. He is one of the best! Very nice, accommodating and checks in with with table just enough - not too much, not too little. Marco also is very knowledgeable on menu and wine selections.
A shoutout to General Manager Beau Monroe, too. He stopped by our table a couple times and is noticeably helpful with everything. He really has his pulse on dining room activity. And he's always kind and professional.
A nice touch, too, on this evening was the chef also stopping by our table to chef on the food preparation. Everything was great!
BLT Steak is one of my favorite places to dine in D.C.
We had a wonderful dinner here. The staff was so friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in. They gave us pate and popovers to start the meal which were a big hit. Their steaks are huge, and were cooked perfectly. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Very polished service overall. Can't wait to return!
