BLT Steak DC

The restaurant was very busy and very loud. They were not excepting this kind of crowd, according to our server. The manager took our order. The server was running around as the lunch time was very busy and we had to flag down other servers for items that we were missing. The Caesar salad was so-so at best. It had so much lettuce, and hardly ANY parmesan cheese that I had to ask two more times. No croutons, only parmesan crisps which I had to ask for more as well. Ordered with grilled shrimp and there were three. This was a business luncheon and I was entertaining a client; she had not been here before as it's over her price range, and she would not recommend either. Her American Wagyu beef sandwich was tough and warm when served. The manager did say when she ordered it that it would be tough if cooked well done; so she got medium well and still tough by the time she finished it. Very disappointing because the ambiance is very nice, but the food is lacking certainly for the price point they are asking.
Absolutely wonderful experience
This was our first dining experience at BLT. We selected BLT because of the location convenient to our hotel and the availability of dining vouchers. We delayed our reservation by 30 minutes and were pleasantly accommodated. Phil greeted us on arrival and took our coats. He led us to a nice private corner booth. BLT's wine list is extensive, quality, and expensive. I narrowed the selections and consulted with the manager before choosing the 2016 Stags' Leap Petite Sirah. The wine was decanted after presentation. It was an excellent choice. We shared a wedge salad and thoroughly enjoyed the filet mignon (12 oz) and Wagyu skirt (10 oz) with vidalia onion rings and Brussel sprouts. I selected the skirt because of size. Our lead server, Eddie, described it perfectly. Be aware that all the steaks are large and can likely be shared or carried home. The sides are intended to be shared. The steaks were prepared as ordered and the meal was flawlessly served. We enjoyed the peanut butter mouse for dessert. There are many servers at BLT. We were greeted and cared for by at least 5 individuals. Eddie explained that BLT is normally busy and crowded when the legislators are in town. But on this Monday night before Thanksgiving it was quiet and extremely enjoyable. BLT is on par with other upscale steak houses (i.e., Mortons, Ruths Chris, and Flemings). I believe, however, that I enjoyed dining at BLT more.
The top cap is the best steak in DC.
We always enjoy BLT! Our server, TJ, was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The staff also welcomed us and treated my husband, the birthday boy, with lots of love. YUMMY GREAT TIME!
I came with a friend to celebrate her birthday & the staff dud a great job of making her feel special -from a special “happy birthday“ message printed on the menu, to immediately serving sparkling, followed by a scrumptious amuse Bouche, then a delectable steak, they attended to our every need and & wrapped up with a delicious dessert topped off by candle! Thank you so much for a wonderful celebration exclamation
Wonderful food and service, what more do you want.
Unacceptable service. Totally ignored. I had a 12:15 lunch reservation with a guest visiting from out of town. We were seated promptly, served iced tea and bread. Never checked on again. At 1:30, our order still wasn't taken. I asked for a manager who said that they did not want to interrupt our conversation. Unbelievable. Did they think we had all day to have lunch? They did nothing for us. Didn't even send over an appetizer. We left without ever getting lunch. I was horrified and extraordinarily embarrassed. I will not eat hear again. You should not either. There are many great steakhouses in DC. This is not one of them. After we left, they "canceled" my reservation so as to prevent me from writing a review. I alerted Open Table who reinstated it. Terrible service; terrible management. Stay away.
It is a nice setting and the service was prompt, pleasant and efficient. However, I was very disappointed with the Lobster Cobb salad - it was $29 I believe and, of course, you don't expect a significant amount of lobster but there were literally two small strands of lobster in it. I felt like a sucker for paying that much for lettuce (or maybe I was paying for the popovers, which are of course great!).
Ambience is good, but my steak wasn't nearly as tender as I have had elsewhere. Was wondering of they are serving aged steaks? It had been a year+ since we had eaten there. Now I remember why.
Fabulous all around dining experience. BLT is our go to for Steak in Dc.
My wife and I ate there 8 years ago and really enjoyed it! We're happy to say that BLT didn't disappoint this time either.
Amazing food! Fantastic service and atmosphere. It is a noisy restaurant so if you are looking for an intimate evening not the best place.
Service was great.
I usually love BLT - always a treat to go. But I had the special NY Strip - it was really tough, with a lot of fat marbled in it, I think I just got a bad cut. Service was outstanding. All and all, it was okay.
Outstanding food and service. Definitely recommend and will return!
Terrific atmosphere, outstanding food and staff. A great place to enjoy a great dining experience.
Service was great. Food is always good. Good place for business lunches.
Restaurant is nicely appointed although our table was a little close to other tables on either side. Server was efficient and very friendly. Food was simply magnificent as always. Unexpected surprise desert for our anniversary was a treat. Our entire party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed every minute and every bite.
We overpriced. Does not compare to Charlie palmers.
Excellent prompt and consistent service. The food was exceptional as always.
My wife’s five year breast cancer clear celebration. A great place to do so.
Always wonderful and accommodating to our needs. The service and quality and always top notch.
I was in town with a big group of people. I had been to the BLT in Aruba last spring and was impressed. The service at BLT was beyond bad. I’ve never received such bad service at a high end restaurant like this. The cut of steak (NY Strips) was not worth the price and had a tendon going through most of our cuts. Some of our steaks were under cooked and the server never came back to check on us to see if the steaks were cooked properly. The popovers were pretty good though. Overall I would not recommend this steak house to anyone.
Great food and great service. Would highly recommend.
While I enjoyed my meal at BLT this week I did have a few issues. First of all, who puts chives on a caesar salad? Never, ever, have I experienced that before so I didn't think I need to ask for "no funny green things". I have an allium intolerance. Now, if you send a salad back for something like chives don't you think the server should take note and make sure they don't end up on other dishes? One would think so yet the truffel mashed potatoes and asparagus arrived with chives. I understand the chives on mashers, it's a garnish that adds colour. But why the eff would you sprinkle chives on asparagus, which is also green. Makes no sense to me.
Wagyu NY strip was absolutely delicious. Service was incredible
Great food and service. Had a really good time. Downsides were that it was super loud and only 4 shrimp in the shrimp cocktail for $24.
One of our favorite places. Servers are wonderful and remember us!
Food and service was amazing! Our server was very thorough and made great suggestions from the menu.
BLT's ambiance is what you would expect of any busy upscale restaurant in the city. The cowboy ribeye and grilled branzino were underwhelming considering the cost. The wine list was impressive with a variety from $1800-$45 a bottle. We decided on a $100 bottle of Bordeaux to compliment our dinner. All in all, the evening was an enjoyable one. The host, wait staff, chef, and sommelier were absolutely delightful.
Too much aircon
On the down side, it was loud, the popovers were over baked, and the service was slow as we spent several minutes (10+) staring around the table at the finished plates with no serving staff to clear - twice, after appetizers and entrees.
On the up side, the popovers were still yummy, the steaks cooked to perfection, and the lobster Cobb and wedge salads were really good.
Amazing! Go to DC Steak house for family dinners! Nothing better!
The Staff is fantastic. I listed in the OpenTable notes that this was a birthday celebration for my husband. BLT thoughtfully had menus printed with my husband’s name at the top. Just a small touch that goes a long way. The service was impeccable and the food even better.
The service was excellent, but it was so loud that you couldn't hear the person right in front of you unless you also were shouting. Also, the lighting is so dim that you could see everyone looking at the menu's with cell phone lights, not to mention the print was wearing off and the type font was very small.
The service was outstanding. Appetizers were very good and the complimentary po overs were delicious as well. Very nice wine list. But the steak was tough and lacking in flavor - each person at our table had a steak that’s was less than desirable. Domestic wagyu was not nearly worth the price tag. And the “local” aged beef was tough and over cooked.
Awesome! Steaks, seafood, pop-overs......all taste great. It is a little pricey, but a great experience and dinner!
Excellent Service - Good Food! We had a great waiter! He stepped up the customer service even more when I mentioned how much we loved Mastro’s.
