BLT Prime Ratings and Reviews
Food is now awful! We used to go here years ago. It was great. But after years of neglect, this place has gone down hill. Steaks are not good at all. They serve a large steak and they present it well, just too fool you. No good appetizers on the menu. Caesar salad was like they just took some old lettuce and threw mayo on top. Short rib was dry and over cooked. Menu has been the same for last 10 years. All this place has become is a glorified dinner. Also very expensive. Not worth it. Stay away.
The kitchen is brilliant with all the meats and I can over look the lack of perfection in the fish entrees.
My guest was easy, however I noticed the less than perfect truffle mashed potatoe and onion ring sides. That’s inexcusable.
The liver pâte amuse bouche and the popovers were to die for as was the service.
We are long-time NYC'ers and over the past several years we have eaten at BLT Prime probably 4-5 times a year. The steaks were pretty good and it was a reliable nice meal. Unfortunately, it has slowly gotten worse and this past weekend we had perhaps the worst dining experience I've had in quite a while. I will not be going back to this restaurant.
Problem 1- The front desk and manager. We checked in for our reservation, but were given no information besides whether we wanted to check our coats so we stood there like idiots for 5 minutes. We watched the manager collected coats from a bunch of people nearby but no one decided to share any information for us on when we would be seated or if we should get a drink at the bar. The hostess chatted on the phone. We finally asked where we should go and they took us to our table.
Problem 2 - The waiter. He took our orders and then came back to tell me they were out of the entree I ordered. Instead of asking what else I would like, he left the table and didn't return for 10 minutes. I finally had to call him over to order my meal. We then waited for over 60 minutes for our meal. The table beside us, which arrived after us and ordered after us, got their meals about 10-15 minutes before us. We asked the waiter what was the problem and he said it would be "any minute". Our meals then came out finally after another 5 minutes of waiting. The medium rare "bone-in ribeye" was raw and had no visible bone. The bone-in filet was cold and had obviously been sitting there for awhile. We told the waiter and he said "there is nothing I can do about it" but asked if we wanted to see a manager. The manager came over and apologized, and said she would not charge us for one of the entrees.
When we were leaving another patron was complaining to the hostess about his "terrible steak" - so I don't think it was just us. Unfortunately, this restaurant used to be pretty good, but I will never go back.
A few years ago we chose BLT Prime for dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday, and have been coming back now for 3 or 4 years in a row. The food is always great - steak (new York strip), fish (branzino), sides (brussel sprouts, fries), those pop-overs.
My wife likes to have a dessert with a candle in it, and BLT Prime does bring that at the end of the dinner. However, for some reason, the first time we did this, the dessert was free. For the past few years, we have been charged for it. It's a small point to quibble over...we are spending between $150-200 on dinner, so an extra $10 is not that much...but to me, it would make the night just a little bit better if the dessert was not put on the check. Just a suggestion. I am sure we will be back, though
My favorite steakhouse (which more or less makes it my favorite restaurant of all time.) The complimentary pate and popovers are unbelievably delectable; the tuna tartare is perfect; their steaks are sublime; the truffled mashed potatoes are heavenly. Can’t say enough good things about this place.
We had a wonderful time at BLT Pime. The food was great, the atmosphere was lovely and our attendants were fantastic. The food was soooo good. Im not a major steak eater and i kept on eating!! I couldn't stop it was soooo good. I ordered the ny strip and hubby ordered Kansas city steak....
The drinks were great too!! A lovely night to celebrate Hubbys 40th bday. He had a great time too
This is the second time I've been to BLT Prime and both times the food was extremely disappointing. I ordered the same thing both times: Bone-in ribeye. It was "inedible" (in the words of one of someone else who tasted it). It was so tough that I got tired of trying to cut it and gave up. The sides were unimpressive: french fries (which were fine) and a sauteed spinach and kale mix that was crumpled (as frozen spinach usually cooks), overcooked, dry, and bitter, as one might expect to find at a diner. I will not go back to BLT Prime.
Filet was amazing as usual. Go here for a great steak, cooked to perfection.
Bad service at the bar while I was waiting for my friend. Took the bartender 15 minutes to give me a menu and never came back to take my drink order.
Service at the table is slow. They give you an amuse-bouche but the bus boy or minor server just throws it on the table with no explanation. After digging into the small dish, we found pate. It was accompanied by teeny tiny toasts. A little uneven overall but still, the steaks are great.
Great option for steak. Wine list is quite pricey at about 20% higher for comparable options at other top steakhouses. Service was great. The waiter spilled a glass of wine on one of our guests and they comped a free bottle, his meal and brought free deserts for the whole table. That’s a fair trade as long as it isn’t me. :)
Can’t say enough good things about BLT Prime. Went for an anniversary dinner with my boyfriend and could not have had a better experience. The staff went above and beyond and the food was delicious. Luann, our waitress, was so kind and made our experience that much better. Will definitely be going back.
We were seated right on time. The service was good. The bread and butter was fantastic. Appetizers were okay nothing out of this world. Steak was cooked perfectly. Sides were great. Multiple people kept coming over to see if we needed refills on wine. Too full to eat dessert.
BLT was a big disappointment. We have been there many times and had great meals but not this time. It was crowded as usual. Service was inattentive. I ordered oysters which were not plump or briney and were returned. Instead I ordered 3 shrimp @ $6 each which I assumed would be the usual jumbo shrimp you find in a steak place. Another disappoint - 3 medium shrimp - great margin for BLT. But the biggest disappoint were the 2 ribeyes and 1 filet mignon that we ordered. The steaks were chewy and bland with little aged meat taste. This was only topped by the bland horseradish sauce for an additional $3 - really $3 for a sauce with a $59 steak? Of course the bill was incorrect - the oysters were billed and then removed at my request. NYC has many better options for an excellent steak. BLT needs to work much harder and not rest on its previously earned reputation.
First time. Great steak. Everything we tasted was delicious. Attentive service. Everything was seamless and smooth. Added touched knowing it's my first time with some additional dessert treats just made us feel like they value us as customers. They were very busy but the whole team was on point. I'm a Director at a hotel and truly appreciate the experience. Thanks will definitely be back.
There is truly nothing to complain about here. Great ambience, competent bartender, more than adequate wine list that doesn’t gouge “too badly” and solid food and selection. Our server was a bit overtaxed, and the entire service operation lacks connection to the customer, but all-in-all very competent and pleasant, with really good food and a positive environment.
Great steakhouse in NYC. Authentic very good quality food, great service (our waiter was excellent), good list of international wines. This is my second time at BLT prime and i will sure come back. Strongly suggested for official or formal dinners. We had a really great time.
