BLT Prime by David Burke

Steaks were terrible and the wine was extremely overpriced - the mark up on the bottle of Austin Hope was more than double the mark up at any other steak house in which I have ordered it.
What a wonderful dining experience! We wanted to try some place different to celebrate our birthday dinners (six days apart) and chose to have dinner here. The staff was very attentive and extremely polished with the way they treated their guests. The food was, as expected, amazing! We had the steak tartar, shrimp cocktail, porterhouse for two with the lobster fondue, and hipster fries. We ate everything! To top it off, because we were celebrating two birthdays, we were able to try the molten chocolate cake and passion fruit cake as a gift from the restaurant. Very, very happy with our evening here!
This is a great restaurant with consistently delicious food and superb service. It is in a stunning hotel setting. Even the welcome you receive at the hotel drive-up is warmly friendly and efficient.
We have eaten at this establishment twice before and have always had a great experience. The food and service are excellent and the hotel setting is beautiful.
Excellent staff, food and beautiful hotel. An excellent experience overall.
We had breakfast after staying in the Trump International the food was very good and the atmosphere is wonderful. I will say the service could have been a little better and the man that seated us a little nicer. I felt like he was looking down on us for some reason.
We ate there two years ago for our 30th wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful dining experience ever, excellent service, excellent food, and we even got a nice little dessert cake that said “Happy Birthday.” We thought it was very funny. We have both worked in 4 star places and BLT Prime blew all others out of the water. This year, for our 32nd anniversary we wanted to have that same experience. And this time it fell WAY short. Horrible service, mediocre food, and not a mention by our waiter of our anniversary. Not once through appetizers, salads, or main course did anyone ask if things were OK. I wanted a glass of wine with my steak so when our dinners FINALLY arrived, I asked the expeditor if I could get a glass of wine, a little while later, I was given a wine glass, and with a few pieces of my steak left, the wine finally came. When it was time for dessert, we declined and there was no attempt to up-sell, no recommendation, or ask a second time and recommend something. This guy was just bad. My wife and I debated over the tip. We are 20% tippers if things just go well, and higher if the meal goes extremely well. Tonight it was 14%, and he was lucky to get that. I will caution my friends about going here. The whole thing turned from a $400 dinner two years ago to a $200 dinner this time.
We absolutely love dining at BLT in the Trump Hotel. We get there at least an hour early so we can sit at the bar and have a drink and maybe an appetizer and then we meander over to the BLT for dinner. The service is fantastic; they have so many staff on that you’re always being responded to, you never have to wait , it’s very attentive but not hovering. The wine selection is amazing and the food is simply first-rate. I really don’t think you can find a better place for a serious sit-down table-cloth meal in all of DC and I’m very picky. All of the staff in the hotel are so welcoming and attentive ;we spoke with the manager on our way out , he’s a really interesting fascinating person and then the doorman was so friendly and they actually gave us a lift back to our hotel (driver was wonderful , Orlando) some distance away. It was a fabulous evening out. Magical.
We like to dine at BLT Prime while the hotel still is decorated for Christmas. Prime is one of our favorite special occasion dining locations. The food and service always are outstanding. A great wind list for all dishes. The mezzanine location in the beautiful hotel is hard to beat. It always is a most enjoyable dining experience.
Everything is over the top.
Our lunch was superb as was our server, Nancy. We celebrated a wonderful birthday.
Perfectly flavorful and cooked filet
The staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special! Starting with champagne upon arrival an amazing meal and then a delicious desert!
Love this place def. one of my favorite steakhouses in DC area. I had the tartare and my husband the NY strip and we had couple of side dishes notably our favorite side dish is the crazy corn!
Our servers were super attentive Hart was great. Gary who is our server of choice every time we have dinner there. Gary is just wonderful he is attentive, gives amazing recommendations and has a wonderful personality he made our night Extra Special! Can’t wait to go back
All of the staff was so friendly from the moment we checked in till the end of our meal. We had a few staff members help us take the perfect family photo in front of the Christmas tree since it wasn’t busy yet. One of the staff members recommended the perfect red wine for our meal. We are considering using it for our Christmas dinner. The bread was fresh and delicious! My granddaughter had the fried shrimp kids meal. It does not look small! They were 3 giant shrimp that were perfect as appetizers, one per adult. My daughter and I had steak, Cowboy Ribeye and Wagyu Ribeye. Both were delectable! The Wagyu just melted in your mouth. It was an experience! My daughter’s ribeye was so tasty! The whipped potatoes were so creamy. Perfect but not overpowering side dish. The broccoli was slightly sweet and savory. My daughter and granddaughter weren’t fans of it. Surprising we finished all of our food. We had to go all out and try dessert. The creme brûlée was a little runny compared to some that I’ve had. It was still delicious. My granddaughter loved her sundae. It was big as well. How do kids finish meals this big?
I loved how everyone was so polite and complimented all my choices from wine to steak choice. I would love to come here again. Best restaurant experience in a hotel I’ve ever had!
Excellent service. Food is superb. Our favorite place to eat in DC.
Excellence all the way around.
We were in town for the holiday, staying at the Trump hotel. Made a reservation on a Tuesday evening for 2. Service was slow. It took quite awhile to be greeted. Drinks arrived 25min after we sat down. Everything was just okay...steaks were not hot when delivered, side dishes were tepid. Most likely would not recommend.
Our waitress was terrible. She was not interested in our table at all. We ordered ravioli for an appetizer and turns out there was fish stock in the ravioli which was not told to us. My mom is allergic to fish stock!! Then our food came out cold. The waitress tried to give us a bill twice and when we told her that she just walked away from the table! I would never go back here. The food and service was just terrible and not worth the money at all. There’s too many good steakhouses in DC to waste your time at this one.
Nice atmosphere and attentive service. Clams and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail were fresh and tasty. However, the Lobster Cobb Salad was a disappointment..small portion size, wilted greens, and overripe avocado. Sent the Lobster Cobb Salad right back to the kitchen. Replaced it with the 3 Egg Omelet...it came with potatoes, toast, and a light salad. It wasn’t mind blowing, but it was filling. The orange juice tasted sour, so I ordered a Moscow Mule. Moscow Mule was pleasantly potent.
It was delicious. The service was great. The President was there so it was very busy and lots of secret service. Popovers are to die for
Holiday office dinner
It was my daughters 50th birthday and everything was wonderful.
Very busy Saturday night, filled to capacity. Our experience was good but the staff was obviously overwhelmed. The waits were long and neighboring tables were getting very unhappy.
Started with lobster bisque which my husband loved and oysters Rockefeller which were unfortunately overcooked, dry unpleasant.
Husband ordered the most expensive Japanese ribeye, it was buttery rich tender and tiny!
Couch potatoes were hilarious, 3 baked potatoes with onion rings in top. Crazy corn was fresh corn with cheese, nice.
They did not have 3 wines we ordered off the wine list, my husband settled on a red and I on a white. The white was removed to chill after a small pour, it was difficult to get someone to pour another glass from our bottle.
All in all not a five star experience, nor a good value for the hefty price tag!
Note: we returned for breakfast the next morning and experienced the same poor service in a near empty restaurant. We waited 25 minutes for a cup of coffee and mimosa after placing our order. That was after a 20 minute wait to be seated! Host explained that after a busy Saturday night, nobody wants to come to work. Really?
Terrific expense account steak house in a dramatic setting -- the Trump hotel lobby. Excellent food, professional service, lovely ambience. Can't wait to return.
First visit brilliant second not so much !!
A wonderful place to have lunch with friends to celebrate the Holidays. The balcony at BLT Prime overlooks the beautiful lobby of the Trump Hotel. We were there on the day of the White House Ball and caught a glimpse of some DC insiders. The food was fabulous. Will definitely consider coming back next year!
What a wonderful surprise! Food exceptional, especially the candied maple bacon and steaks. Wait staff friendly , knowledgeable, and attentive. Best service I have ever
Witnessed in the food industry. The atmosphere was such a welcoming, exciting environment- with Christmas just adding to the viewing pleasure . A must when visiting the city. Best dining experience ever.
The ambience of the upper level is incredible, as it views over the beautiful lobby, bar, and enormous Christmas tree. Although the food was incredible, the service from the bar was less than desirable. It took almost 45 minutes before we finally received our drinks, and it didn't get much better as the night progressed.
I'll give the place another shot, but when your spending $3,000 on a meal for 9 people, you expect service to be on point.
I had an issue with my food, the steak was very well done when I ordered medium. My son ordered medium rare, his was more medium well (he was able to eat it fine and did not complain), my wife's steak was cook as she ordered and very good. My meal was sent back, but did I not ask for a another order because by the time they could have cooked another one, my family would be finished. The manager stopped by and apologized, provided complementary desserts and everyone was very nice about it. I have eaten here before, and was very pleased. It is a good experience overall and I would recommend.
Great location. Beautiful hotel. Great service. Perfect for lunch or dinner.
