Tropicana Pool Café
In the end we enjoyed our experience but it started off pretty rocky. We made a reservation online for noon. We arrived on time to find nobody there except a guy putting out tables. He said they had closed because they were shooting a commercial, however that was not stated when we made the reservation. After about 10 minutes the bartender showed up and said we could pick a take and order food but the liquor was locked up and she'd have to find the key. It took some time, but we finally were able to order a drink and get some food. The food was delicious, the drinks and service were okay. I'm guessing it was a one time thing and will try again another time.

I attended a special event for an Oscar Viewing Party. The venue and service was great. The audio was not ideal for the size of the room.
It was hard to hear even though the volume was very high. The venue needs to look into what is required for cinema sound and not concert hall sound.
Arrived right on time for our reservation, stood awkwardly at the hostess stand for a few minutes in the beating sun on a 90+ degree day at noon, no one was there to greet us. A server finally shouted over at us, "you can just seat yourself". Ok, so we grabbed ourselves a menu, sat down at a table, all of which were exposed in the sun. There were just a few bistro tables strewn about next to the pool, some umbrellas, but not very much shade or ambiance. We looked over the menu and got our laptops set up (was there for a meeting). We continued to sit there for another 5-10 minutes, no one had even greeted us. While reviewing the menu, I noticed they were charging $15 to access their WIFI and wanted $16 for a mimosa! I get it, it's Poolside at the Roosevelt, but if you're going charge for WIFI and over price your food and drinks, at least greet your customers. I was so embarrassed for my client, that we just stood up and walked out.
The hotel did not honor our open table reservation. We arrived a few minutes early and they told us to wait while the hostess helped another party. As we waited, several groups and individuals walked in an said a code name and were immediately seated. We asked for the hostess numerous times and finally went to try to find a seat. We were told it was reservation only and to go back to check in with the hostess. When she finally returned, she said that we didn't have a reservation. I showed her the confirmation and she said that it wasn't valid and that we had to wait 2 hours. We left.
