Critics and food writers agree that the Bistro has a firm grasp on the entire dining experience. With a seasonal menu that changes every eight weeks, chef John Toler stretches the bounds of traditional French cooking by incorporating vibrant ethnic flavors into the Bistro’s globally inspired menus.
We also have secluded private dining rooms available; they are the perfect setting for any type of special event. Whether you wish to enjoy the gastronomical pleasures of a five-course meal, or just to sample an intriguing appetizer over a glass of wine, Bloomsbury Bistro always strives to live up to its time honored reputation as Raleigh’s finest.
Absolutely fantastic on all levels. Had the salmon and the ratatouille along with salads and gazpacho. Tasty, hearty and bursting with flavor as well. Simply delicious.
Great Bloody Mary’s and coffee to accompany impeccable service and a comforting, yet sophisticated ambiance. Highly recommended and will be a regular go-to when in Raleigh.
Excellent food and well presented. Our service was very attentive without hovering. Good ambiance for a casual night out with a friend. One couple was quite loud but, fortunately, was leaving shortly after we were seated - not restaurant's problem.
Fabulous food at absolutely reasonable prices. Definitely high level gourmet cuisine! Great waitstaff. I just wish that the interior was more “happening” although that doesn’t affect my desire to dine there (due to the amazing meals that we enjoy at Bloomsbury Bistro).
Fabulous food and wonderful service- everytime we have eaten there it is fabulous
We use to visit Bloomsbury Bistro for all special occasions and decided to return after a few years. This visit was a lot like the old days: good food, good service, and good atmosphere.
My wife and I finally tried Bloomsbury Bistro after reading all the great reviews. We were thoroughly disappointed in the food - the flavor was lacking and missed the mark in our book, especially considering the price.
Perfect birthday celebration!
Bloomsbury never disappoints! Quiet dinner for two or celebrations with a group it will be a special night! The creativity of John Toler continues to impress, us even after all these years. Exciting menus, well executed that change regularly will make you come back often.
Food was great ! Love the variety! Should have additional sauces served with the entree! Very colorful food presentation.
Dishes were creative and delicious, service was great. We will be back.
My husband and I had a lovely dinner. the chef introduced his fall menu and it was outstanding. I had a hard time deciding what to order. I did order the "reuben" style corn beef entree that melted in my mouth. My husband had the salmon and loved it too! Our waitress Lori was simply lovely and I also observed that all of the wait staff helped each other either bringing food or clearing plates, etc. We particularly enjoy being able to hear ourselves talk. Lovely experience. Patricia
Very dated interior. Server's uniform didn't look fresh, had a button missing and replaced with an odd color button. Just not very put together but was a good server overall. If the place would update their look I would return and refer to others but, for now we will pass on returning for dinner.
Never disappointed--always a dining pleasure.
One of Raleigh's finest restaurants.
One of our favorite restaurants around. The descriptions cannot do justice to this food. This last visit, I had the Grilled Sterling Silver New York strip steak over Irish “Colcannon” cabbage mashed potatoes with creamed Brussels sprouts & spinach and Guinness Stout Bordelaise . It blew me away. My wife and I shared the Bittersweet chocolate pot du crème custard served with toasted walnuts and Grand Marnier spiked chocolate truffles. Again, amazingly delicious. The chef is top notch.
Just doesn’t seem quite as good as it used to be. Everything was fine, but not great. Food was fine, service was fine, but we’ve had better there in the past. Not a lot of people there, but we were there on the early side. A distinct lack of energy...
Excellent, elegant food and service at a surprisingly reasonable price for a "fancy" restaurant.
It had been a while since we were there,,still great food service and ambiance,,,
Food was great. Server was very good. We both totally cleared our plates.
Absolutely delicious. Chef adjusted for my allergies.
Fantastic as usual. Been going there since it opened.
Great food. Great waitress, Laurie. It was refreshing to be able to talk and be heard . We especially loved the mushroom appetizer. My cocktail was a little week, but the bartender fixed it right up.
No doubt hands down one of our most favorite places we have eaten. The food was phenomenal!!! We enjoyed the meal completely, great service and the prices are very comparable to other fine dining restaurants. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
The turkey medallions were overcooked and my huasband said the fish was greasy.
Bloomsbury Bistro is one of favorite Raleigh restaurants, and probably the restaurant we visit most frequently. We were delighted to learn that they were going to have one of their special "tasting menus" this month. It's been quite a while since they've offered that, and it is an exceptional value. And so delicious! The staff are courteous and friendly, and we were pleased to see how they all chipped in to help one another on a very busy night. The host took our initial drink order, and the bartender delivered our meals to our table!
Great food and service
Love Bloomsbury! We celebrate our anniversary there every year! Delicious food and excellent service!
Very conducive for a client dinner. The table was a little small but everything was wonderful, will definitely go back.
Tuesday night. Very quiet. Food was delicious. Service was great.
Bloomsbury is our go-to can't miss restaurant when we want a special, complete dining experience. Food is always interesting and well-prepared. Service is attentive, but not intrusive. Atmosphere is quiet, relaxed, and conducive to adult conversation.
The food was very good and our server was very attentive.
As has been the case every time we have had the pleasure of dining at Bloomsbury, the food was exceptional and the service outstanding. They have figured out the magic formula of waiting on their customers as a team making certain all needs are constantly and efficiently met. Well done.
Nothing really bad. It was just average all the way around. A couple of our entrees were over cooked. A couple of them were really good. Appetizers were good but not great. Service was good.
A lovely experience, wonderful quiet ambiance, loved our seating on the banquette, food always so consistently great, creative dishes...fast becoming our favorite date night place...
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. My meal was excellent, and my husband enjoyed his, except he felt the portion was a bit small. My aunt said her fish was overcooked. But overall, I loved my meal and enjoyed the quiet room. This is not a restaurant to take little kids. I'd go back.
Went there for our anniversary and it was delightful. Excellent food, quiet enough to talk and attentive staff.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with a party of 10. We were provided a private room and they had a beautiful center piece made for us. We had one vegan in our party and they prepared a special plate for him that was just as nice as their regular plates. Food was outstanding, service was great. Would highly recommend Bloomsbury Bistro, and can't wait to eat there again.
Scallop was fantastic. Coconut sorbet was fantastic. Chicken entree was, for me, ok.
This continues to be one of my top 5 places to eat in the Raleigh area. The menu is so unique and creative and the experience is fantastic. This is an absolute stop for a great dining experience. Keep it up - see you soon.
Delicious food, wonderful server who was very attentive (and funny) everything was amazing and we will definitely be back!
Not as good as it used to be. Kinda disappointing. The food has gone downhill, and the service is slightly better than what you would get at applebee's. I want to love this place but I just can't.
