About this restaurant

Bloom is a unique chocolate salon inside the newly opened 16th Street factory of Dandelion Chocolate, a small-batch, bean-to-bar chocolate maker in San Francisco. We offer an elegant a la carte breakfast, a casual and elegant place to join us for an afternoon hot chocolate and hand crafted pastry.

Bloom is the perfect spot to sit and savor a pot of small-batch hot chocolate, Ritual Roasters coffee beverages, chocolate-centric breakfast (8AM - 12PM), or an array of sweets for afternoon tea (1PM - 5PM).

Went of Valentines Day with my husband. We ordered the ice cream flight and spicy hot chocolate that came with a few small but tasty desserts. It’s a cute place with great service and pretty romantic. I recommend at least trying it once!

Came into SF for the weekend and decided to try Bloom and take a tour of the Chocolate Factory. Ordered a flight of cake, iced chai, and an iced mocha. Service was excellent. The front entry of the store was a bit noisy and busy but Bloom provided a semi-quiet space to enjoy some afternoon treats. The first cake we tried was cassis and peanut butter. This one was a bit dry. The combination tasted more akin to Hoisin sauce and peanut butter. The second cake slice was carrot and ginger. This one was pretty good. The last slice was chocolate with a small dollop of sour cream. The chocolate was very rich and by far the best. The drinks were small. The Chai was good on its own but did not pair well with the cake flight due to the clash between the spices in the drink and the flavors of cake. The iced mocha was a fantastic, refreshing splash of chocolate on a warm afternoon. Overall, this was a good experience, predominantly due to the fantastic factory tour we had with Christine! The tour pulled up what would have otherwise been an overpriced and under delivered dining experience at Bloom. In summary, the dining experience at Bloom is pretty to look at, nicely presented in a pleasant atmosphere, but lacking in overall execution.

The small cafe is located within the factory. If you've never been before ask the server for recommendations. We started with a pot of the house hot chocolate, which was rich and delicious. We shared the cake break and the Chocolate Pause. From the Cale Break the carrot and chocolate cakes were the best. The PB&J was passable. From the Chocolate Pause, we liked the churro and madeleines. The crackers were passable. Not sure why they had a trio in each, a larger duo would be better. Some shades from the late afternoon sun would be a welcome addition to an otherwise elegant salon. Service was great.
