Bliss Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I was attending a conference and dined at several restaurants along the River Walk over those four days. The food, service and value varied dramatically, with two spots making it on my "never again" list. Thankfully just a few miles down the road we found Bliss! The food was exceptional. (The best scallops I've had in years.) The ambiance and service also spot-on. And plenty of free parking building-adjacent?! Too good to be true. Ive got another conference in SA in May. We'll be back to Bliss... probably twice!
Good restaurant. Safe and ample parking. Very nice hostesses. I was there for Valentine's day so the place was packed and thus noisy. The kitchen is very close to the sitting area and this adds to the commotion, as waiting staff goes back and forth to the kitchen and back , navigating through very narrow spaces between the tables. Our server was middle aged woman, tired of her work, barely trying to hide her exasperation behind a forced smile. Although she did a solid job, personally, I'd prefer someone more enthusiastic. The food was very tasty. It was a special holiday four course meal. The weird thing is that an appetizer was a small arrangement on a big plate, however the rest of the courses were large and overfilling. Also, I felt a bit rushed.I think the pauses between the courses weren't long enough to fully enjoy the meal. I felt the message was: Eat up, we got more people coming. The thing I disliked the most though is not adherence to the dress code advertised. Most people were dressed really nice but few wore jeans and shirts. I mean, is this a nice expensive place or what? Well, all and all, I'd give them seven out of ten. I don't think I would go back there, but I'd recommend to check it out.
Everything was spot on. From the appetizer to dessert, excellent execution. Service rivaled the best restaurants in “big cities” I’ve been to in the past. Attentive but never invasive. I would recommend to anyone looking for inventive cuisine in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere.
We were in SA on vacation. We researched numerous restaurants before hand and narrowed our dinner choices to 4. Each night we did one of the four. It was unanimous Bliss was our favorite! We rated it the best of the 4 in quality, taste, service, ambiance etc. All 4 of us agreed we would return and recommend it.
Bliss was recommended by a friend who has great taste in restaurants. Based on this, we chose Bliss for a special birthday celebration and so glad we did! Ambiance is great and the food was amazing. So glad we went, it made the occasion so much more special!
This is San Antonio’s best restaurant so we save it for special occasions. We just returned from the food Mecca (SF)and this was as good as anything we had there. No other restaurant here can come close to that. The tostada & pork belly are the 2 best appetizers.
Amazingly creative dishes. I had two small plates—shashimi nachos and a warm octopus dish. Both were spectacular. My husband had the duck breast foie gras dish. He loved every bite. We both have some dietary restrictions and they were not only accommodating, but creatively so. We would back in a skinny minute.
We went to Bliss to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. We had never been there before. We absolutely loved everything about it. The setting was intimate. The service was impeccable. The food was just amazing. I tried the branzino and my boyfriend had the duck. Both were amazing. We will definitely return.
Bliss is now in my top ten favorite restaurants anywhere! The service was outstanding. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and wine. We had the charcuterie plate as an appetizer, which was delicious. We also had as our entree, pork and beans (great!), and short ribs (also very good). For dessert, we had the butter cake, recommended by our waiter. That was the best dessert we have had in a long time.
My partner and I went during Restaurant Week 2018.
As I am vegan, I was very pleased to try a new restaurant with vegan offerings during our Restaurant Week exploration.
I ordered the arugula salad, the vegan risotto, and the sorbet - all of which were delicious.
My partner ordered the Hamachi Tostada, the "Pork & Beans" and the Chocolate. He indicated that the entrée was one of the best things he'd ever had and loved both the appetizer and dessert.
We also both had the wine pairing, which were well suited to the meal, though neither of us particularly loved the pinot noir that came with the main course. The dessert course's port was particularly good, though.
The decor was very pretty (and quite in line with our tastes), the ambiance very charming, and the service was excellent.
Overall, an excellent meal and a great experience – Bliss is definitely going on our list of restaurants for special occasions.
Sat outside on the patio. It was chilly but they had space heaters and a fire pit. It was super quiet and romantic. A great location for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. The food was delicious and the service was superior. All the wait staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable.
My spouse & I really enjoyed our dinner at Bliss. We visited San Antonio as part of a tour which included meals but we wanted to have a special dinner date. We are so happy that we selected Bliss. Our dinner was delicious. My appetizer was one of my favorite indulgences the roasted Marrow Bone. It was both unusual and tasty. My spouse had The Hamachi appetizer which he also thoroughly enjoyed. We then shared the Bronzino fish. We also had a bottle of Garnacha. The entire meal was great and we enjoyed the atmosphere as well. Thoughtful service made the evening as special as we had hoped.
As always, BLISS is a total delight! From the time we walked in the door, with Daria as our Hostess, & Marcy as our very knowledgeable & personable waitress, everything was perfect! It was Restaurant Week, & BLISS has the most extensive Prix Fixe 3-course meal in town! Fresh Oysters on the Half Shell, Scallops, Beef Tenderloin, Snapper...the list is extensive, and EVERYTHING is prepared perfectly! BLISS is the BEST!
Everything was absolutely phenomenal! The food was fresh, which is difficult to do with seafood in San Antonio, the service was impeccable, and the overall experience was outstanding. While not the least expensive meal in town, it certainly delivers great value in the quality, refinement, and creativity displayed in each dish. The ONLY suggestion I’d have, and it’s minor, was maybe slow down the pace a little between courses. Other than that, don’t change a thing. Must have item on the menu: Hamachi Tostadas. Goodness, that was the best starter I’ve had in ages!
