Bliss Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Food was unusual but excellent. A refreshing take on each entree. I haven’t ordered duck in years. Wonderful! The scallops are phenomenal. The snapper is next on my list. Ours is a family of sharers. Thank goodness! Don’t miss the pork belly and oyster sliders to start you off. We’ll be back soon.
This was my second time to your fine restaurant. Brought one of my executive managers back for your great food & overall restaurant experience. In my opinion, Bliss is the top restaurant experience in San Antonio. I think the best compliment I can pay your establishment is simply this: I live in Dallas, TX, we certainly have our share of world class restaurants, Javier's, Three Forks, Del Frisco's to name a few. Bliss is right up there with the best Dallas has to offer! I am a Foodie & I would argue with the best of food critics that a great restaurant is not 100% just the food, it's the atmosphere, great personal/detailed/vip service & throw people watching in as icing on the cake. Thanks for a great experience once again! I will be back!
We had heard nothing but great things about Bliss, so I was very excited to get reservations for my birthday. The fried oysters on buttermilk biscuits were phenomenal. The Hamachi on Tostada were creative and took me back to our Hawaiian trip. The chicken pate was incredible. Our duck/foie gras made things complete. Thank you, Bliss, for making my birthday meal a meal I won't forget for a very long time.
Bliss had such great reviews, we decided to go for my wife's birthday. Other than the ease of parking, the experience was quite disappointing. We were seated quickly and in less than 3 minutes the waiter (adiamo, macht schnell, andele, I don't have time to waste) asked what do you want for the main course. No suggestions, no recommendations, no explanations of the menu. I wanted an appetizer but this request was ignored. I don't drink alcohol, so after my wife ordered a glass of wine I got water--I wasn't even asked if I would like something other than water to drink. As a vegetarian, I got the only entree available, the veggie enchiladas. About as good as a fast food restaurant. My wife's scallops were ok, all three of them. Well north of $100.00. Wouldn't go back.
The manager and/or owner wasn't particularly friendly. Held the door to the restaurant for her and an acquaintance. Neither thanked me nor even acknowledged my presence. She stopped by the majority of tables afterwards, but not ours. I expect this from the average crass San Antonian, not the management or owners of a high caliber restaurant. Overall the food and ambience is incredible, however. The best restaurant in the city and I will be going back .
We live in the neighborhood and were saving our first visit for a special occasion which was my wife's birthday. It is very noisy, much like Rosario's down the street which can make conversation difficult. The food had competing flavors, was quite rich with excess butter and the salads were drenched with dressing. Other than that it was great! I would recommend sitting on the back patio if possible which we didn't realize existed until we left.
We heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and decided to try it to celebrate our anniversary. The ambiance was enjoyable, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. We ordered a bib salad and oyster sliders for appetizers, and red snapper and short ribs for our entrees. Our experience was very pleasing and we will definitely return in the future.
This was my wife and I second opportunity to dine with Bliss and both times the meal and service was excellent. The price is what I would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. (Bliss might want to rethink their policy regarding a complimentary desert for special occasions. Just a suggestion.) Throughly enjoyed the evening and looking forward to our next visit.
Total Bliss. Food was amazing. Started with an amazing Charcuterie plate, iceberg wedge, and oyster sliders. Sliders were decadent!! My wife had the Short Ribs and I finished with the Red Snapper and Mushroom Risotto. Highly recommend this restaurant when visiting San Antonio. An amazing experience.
We had heard and read high compliments of Bliss, and we learned they were all deserved. They score high in creativity, attention to detail and great taste. The oysters on biscuit and marrow bones are exceptional. Staff were attentive. This is a place for a special meal.
