American
The term “Blind Tiger” was coined in the late 1800’s to describe the illicit drinking and gambling establishments opening their doors as temperance legislation swept across the country. The first “Blind Tigers” in South Carolina sprung up in the Holy City in 1893 as a defiant rebuttal to the “Dispensary” laws mandated by the infamous Governor Ben “Pitchfork” Tillman.
Local lore suggests Broad Street was home to many houses of “ill repute” throughout the years. In 1992, ninety-nine years after the first “Blind Tigers” appeared, the “Blind Tiger Pub” opened in its current location, paying homage to a historic tradition.
Despite changing hands several times throughout the years, the Blind Tiger Pub has always remained a fixture of Charleston society. In 2016, after painstaking restoration, the “Blind Tiger Pub” was reborn. Striving to continue to honor the legacy of its previous caretakers, we invite you to join us in celebrating this Charleston institution.

We enjoyed brunch at the blind tiger. Benets and mimosa were all delicious. The food was also very enjoyable. This is really a good bar and they put out some great food. Service was a little slow but we were in no hurry. Overall very good place to dine.

Great value and tasty quick pub menu. Good prices for downtown. Nice pub atmosphere, but you definitely need to put outdoor patio on special requests in open table, or else you’ll be in the dive-ish inside pub area. Service was not too attentive, despite not being too busy.

We went for lunch. Average food. Good salad. Steak sandwich needed more steak in it. There wasn't enough steak to even call it a steak sandwich.

Great atmosphere and off the beaten patch. Once seated, the service was excellent. The table beside us kept getting larger and larger but wasn't an issue just a bit distracting as the table eventually turned into about 20 people just standing around.
Drinks were unique and delivered quickly. The patio fires are a nice touch to an evening that otherwise would have been too cold to sit outside.
Will visit again when in the area.

WOW. Just WOW. My fiancée and I went here and we cannot say enough good things. We had to try a bit of everything because we heard great reviews on a bunch of things. Well the wings were probably the best we have ever had. And we have eaten a lot of wings in our time. Perfect crisp on the outside, plenty of yummy meat on the inside. The Nashville hot chicken was really good too! It’s no Hatty B’s, but it was the best I’ve had outside of Nashville. I always order hot chicken when I see it and am disappointed. But this one was really good!! Worth a try for hot chicken lovers! As for the truffle fries.... HEAVEN. Pure heaven. Definitely the best meal I’ve had in Charleston. This place is an absolute MUST.

Made a reservation through Open Table for 9:30 pm on a Saturday, for 6 people for my 25th birthday. Received 3 phone calls from restaurant in 3 days hosts/hostesss trying to convince me to cancel or move my reservations to an earlier time because the send their servers home at 10 and kitchen closes then too. I was aware of that, and let them know on each phone call that we would just order some appetizers soon as we got there pay the server and get the rest of our orders through the bar. The hostess upon entering was rude as hell, telling me for the 4th time about the kitchen schedule. The manager came over after we were seated and said he wasn't sending a server to wait on us b/c he was sending them home in 30 mins.... I was stern with him and let him know that we would be ordering a quick bite, as we had had a reservation for 2 weeks.
Overall the experience sucked. We spent some good money at the bar b/c the bartenders were very nice, but service/ management staff was god awful. 10/10 would not recommend if you're trying to have a well planned out, enjoyable evening.

We enjoyed our visit to the Blind Tiger. The food is good and will attract me to return. There was a mixup in our order which was resolved but slowed us down a bit. I would recommend the Blind Tiger as a good lunch spot.

We really enjoyed Blind Tiger. While it is most likely a good college scene, we did not feel out of place even with our son. The burger was so flavorful and the truffle fries were so good. My son had the homemade broccoli cheddar soup and it was hearty and tasty. My husband had the wings which were crispy but moist. I had one of the best mules I've ever had. Really loved the super casual atmosphere and seemed like a neat place that locals must go to for good drinks and gastropub type of food.

Great bar food, awesome wings! We were looking for a casual evening downtown with an out of town friend. Have always liked this bar. Oysters were good, fries were outstanding and wings were the best I have had around here (I am from upstate NY). Will def go back!

Great outdoor yard space. Great space for drinks and/or food. We dined outside on a cool night. There were plenty of fire pits and heating lamps. Our server was Dylan, and he was so attentive on a crowded Fri night. I would suggest the Blue Chips appetizer and chicken avocado club, burger and fries.

Party of 3 had Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich, 2 Caprese panini w chicken, brussels sprouts and Mac and cheese. All food was very good. Sandwiches very good. Mac and cheese was very cheesy and creamy (green onion garnish was nice touch). Food portions were large. Tea was weak. Overall very pleased.

Somehow there was a delay in our reservation and it was canceled on their system when we arrived. However, they made it work and were very accommodating. We had a pretty hungry little one and they let us put her food order in right away. Our waitress even split our ticket with an impressive memory. Great service!

CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION!!! I called the morning of to confirm the large table (made reservations weeks prior). NO ONE mentioned we would not be seated at one table inside until we arrived. The server, Susanne saved the day and made the entire ambiance and experience delightful. Otherwise, I would proceed with caution!

Been here many times and usually the service is pretty good. Not so much this Tuesday night. Shouldn't have been a problem since the restaurant was pretty empty. Food was also not up to their usual standards.

We had oysters on the half shell and I asked for some crackers. I was told they didn’t have any but our waiter offered to bring some toasted bread. I was charged $2.00 for the toasted rounds and they were burnt as well. We asked for some cocktail sauce and were charged extra for that... seriously thought these condiments went with oysters!! Thank goodness they at least tasted good!

We had an excellent date at Blind Tiger. They had a decent choice of craft beer and a good drink menu. The wings were perfectly cooked and nicely seasoned. My spicy chicken sandwich and parmesan fries were fantastic. There is great ambience to the place with the outdoor terrace. Highly recommended!

Well...this is really a beer joint with food. TERRIBLE, lackadaisical service. All the servers were standing big around slack-jawed...apparently attempting to regain sobriety. GREAT beer selection, however. This is really a sports bar.
