The Ribeye is amazing!!
Lots of bad things happened during our dining experience. I guess it starts with the service. The waiter really didn't seem to want to be working today. I didn't think I was that difficult of a customer but I expected a better dining experience based on the prices of the dishes.
We ordered a glass of Viogner and Chardonnay. Both were just not good wines but for the price of the wine I guess that's what I should have expected. I also order a glass of Malbec which could have been good but it was too warm. Well over room temperature. The best part was when the waiter offered to get some ice for it.
The food was meh. Not bad, not great. The selection of items on the menu was attractive. We ordered four "small bites" rather than mains. I wish we had tried mains, maybe they would have been better.
So horrible service, they need to figure out their wine issue and not sure what to say about the food.
Doing a great job as we come out of the Pandemic. Keep up the great work.
Appetizers were wonderful. However, the entree (Cowboy Prime Cut) was so tough we couldn't even cut through it with the steak knife. They brought a second cut and it was the same. Expensive and very disappointing. I won't be back.
Very friendly & helpful staff. Great outdoor seating venue.
Only two servers. Food mediocre. Noise level incredibly loud. Difficult to have a conversation.
Consistently good service and great food.
Pancake creation was very disappointing. Base was dry and tough. Regular pancakes would have been a huge improvement
I've searched a lot of places for a good braised short ribs. I decided to go in Blind Butcher and it did not disappoint. I made the right choice! I love it and good portion, maybe just better with some veggies on the side and smaller portion of mashed potato :) We also ordered their famous lobster mac n' cheese its okay :) My cousin love her Branzino and the over baked mussels was the bomb! I didn't even think of ordering it but Im glad my cousin did! :)
Great service! Thank you kazim our server for the surprise creme brulee for my cousin :)
I love the set up and they have great wine selection!
We had the combination appetizer plate and hamburgers. The appetizers taste great. The hamburgers were good, but rather plain — they could have used more condiments, but there were none within sight. A small condiment table somewhere in the room would have been a nice touch.
This review is way overdue. Absolutely amazing food at a great price for the city. The cowboy ribeye is the best steak everrrr! Sometimes very loud so a table in the front is good if you need quiet.
Great food. Healthy portions and a great find n the Castro. Pork chops, rib eye and filet mignon were are all cooked perfectly and didn’t leave you hungry. Would definitely go back!
Amazing ribeye steak. Good fun service. Yum!
Geeat dining experience! The lamb of racks is by far the best I ever had.
A cute place with excellent food and choices.
Always a great time at Blind Butcher! Love the staff and the food!
Delicious food and great service.
Miguel was an excellent server.
Initially very welcoming until the waitress knew we had a booking (not on her zone). Waiter was very nice although gave us a glass of wine and not the bottle we ordered. Food was excellent, everything done to high standard . Very nice!
The food was awesome. As people from out of town (Australia), this place got recommended to us. The service was excellent. The food was awesome. The Mac n Cheese to die for.... A great place and a great little area (The Castro) for dinner. Just a short taxi ride from the city center. We really enjoyed it. Thank you.
The food was fine, not at the level that I’ve experienced prior. I would again suggest that it’s the service, or lack of attentiveness by the staff that is the most disappointing.
Awesome cowboy steak
I enjoy the atmosphere and ambience of this restaurant and the service is always outstanding.
The food was delicious!! And the ambiance was great. It wasn’t packed either. I will definitely be coming back. Great spot for dinner and drinks.
We were in and out within 50 minutes in this restaurant.. We ordered shared starters and our main course came during the starters. Everything seemed to be prepared beforehand and ready extremely fast. Questioning how fresh the food really was.. Also the acoustics are very bad in this place. We were 4 and could sometimes not understand each other.
The food is good but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Reading other reviews seems to be a pattern of slow service and forgotten tables. For the price point the food is worth it and we’ll cooked. However hospitality is just as important and unfortunately it is totally lacking here making it a poor experience.
It took a while for the waiter to attend to us as it appeared he was in deep conversation with another table. Once he engaged, he was lovely. The atmosphere is cozy and sophisticated. The food is great and tasty! Noise level a bit on the loud side.
We had a 5pm reservation as we had an early dinner with our son so the restaurant was empty. The waiter was very nice and friendly and let us pick any table. I told him 2 of us are gluten free and he altered a veggie side to accommodate that. We had rib eye, half chicken & pork chops. The food was very good. My rib eye was amazing! Once we got our food the waiter seemed to forget about us. There were a few more tables but not full. We had to wait just to get his attention to get the dessert menu and then wait once again to order. We ordered ice cream & creme brulee thinking both are gluten free. We also got our check after we ordered dessert to avoid waiting more. The waiter said the ice cream wasn’t available so we opted for 2x creme brulee. After we paid the bill the waiter came to tell us the creme brulee is not gluten free. Why didn’t he tell us when we ordered dessert since he knew our table had 2 gluten free diners? And the only gluten free option (ice cream) they did not have. I immediately asked if we could remove the creme brulee from our bill. The waiter did this and also gave one creme brulee they had already made for free...but only my husband could eat it because of the gluten. Still confused how creme brulee has gluten! Also, before we had the waiter take the creme brulee off the bill the waiter gave us a discount on it to make up for making us wait so long to order it. Just wish he had anticipated that 2 of could not eat any of the desserts as all contained gluten. He was very nice and I’d give this restaurant another go because the food was very good.
Generous portions deliciously prepared and brought by attentive service.
Had to say the food was good, but the service and the price was a disappointment.
Service: When the waiter took our dinner request, I felt my first course was rushed to the table. My entrée came, but my dining partners didn't come, when we inquired, it seems the waiter forgot to submit my friend order, but it took about twenty minutes before it arrived. Wanted to complain to the manager, but this restaurant does not have a front of the house manager. The waiter explained that the staff worked as a collective. The waiter never apologized for his error and did comp, my friend's meal and gave us two free deserts.
Price: Felt that price was out of touch for the area, the service and the ambiance
The food was amazing! We had a larger group and I got to taste the rake of lamb, ribeye, filet; they were all perfect. The staff were a perfect example of respectful, attentive, and hospitable. I strongly recommend you treat yourself to a night at Blind Butcher.
The “blind” part is right since it is way too dark for my liking & the servers were nice but way too rushed.
Great but too loud for conversation around a 6 person table
Good food good ambiance
Food is so delicious and the ambiance terrific. I was visiting San Francisco and dined there twice in 4 days.
Read a write up, sounded great. Booked a table for 830pm, walked in, only 8 people inside and 2 staff, waited alongside 2 other people also waiting to be seated, no immediate acknowledgement. asked our wait person about wines, decided on 2, asked for a taste, he forgot us altogether, then when reminded only brought 1 over! Ordered food, half delivered was not what we ordered and food in general was average. the expensive lobster mac and cheese should have been served on a game board "find the lobster".
One of the worst meals and service in the US in 20 years.
Really nice addition to the Castro! Steak was amazing.
Very nice atmosphere. The food was shareable plates. Dishes need to be more refined in the texture, taste. For example, a few dishes didn’t have complementary tastes or textures and blended all together. (Is. Beat salad could’ve used some crunch from nuts or another vegetable that is crunchy. Cowboy steak was not cooked evenly as some pieces were more raw than others.)
Our experience was excellent. From the awesome food to the amazing waitress to the perfect date night ambiance, we were all very happy we chose the Blind Butcher for dinner. Well, actually I chose it so I got a lot of kudos from the group:-) We will definitely be coming back! Perfectly situated for an evening at the Castro Theater.
Was there on a slow night. Food was good. Good wine selection. Since it was not crowded, so it wasn't noisy. Services were moderate. Overall recommended.
