Our Chef’s take inspiration from Billy Madison who drew a blue duck because he had never seen one before, and he wanted to see a blue duck! Well, since our chefs love classic Adam Sandler humor and innovative cooking, we thought that Bleu Duck was the perfect name to showcase our fun environment and staff as well as our unique and creative menu. Just like Billy, we like to try things that you’ve never seen before! 
 
Bleu Duck Kitchen and Oyster Bar is a full service restaurant that provides a fun and welcoming atmosphere where white linens meet a casual feel to create the new concept of “fun-dining”. Co-Owners Erik Kleven and Jennifer Becker regard each customer as a welcomed friend, and aim to provide them with an experience that is both personal and unique every time they visit.

    Excellent food, creatively prepared. Unusual pairings. Wild boar meatballs were great. The hangar steak was grilled perfectly. Risotto with sauerkraut was tasty, as was the lobster bread pudding. And the chocolate torte with raspberries was delightful!

    Another fantastic dinner at the BD. The food is so delicious, always seasonal/fresh, flavorful and creative. We started with oysters and drinks…both excellent. The main dishes were all great. What brings it all together is always our server Nikki. She’s just that perfect mix of fun energy balanced by professionalism.

    Server was very friendly and well informed on the variety of dishes. Started with Calamari- a very different and delicious preparation. Followed by a chilled shaved parsnip dish that had a delicate flavor. Entrees of Trout and Steak were great and offered unique preparations. Solid wine and craft cocktails. Old Fashion was one of the best my wife has had. Will definitely return

    Definitely one of the better dining options. Pumkin brûlée app was great. Dumpling not great. Pork belly crepes were excellent. Warning if shellfish allergy. Kimchi rice has it. I had to substitute. Catch of the day red snapper was ok. Desserts all fab. Great service

    When we’re in town, we make sure to visit Blue Duck. Nicky was wonderful! The way she described the combinations of flavors and how each dish was prepared convinced me to order two things I wouldn’t have usually ordered. They were unbelievably delicious. When I asked, her recommendations for each course were spot on. Such great energy. We had such a fun night. The bartender really knows her stuff. The drinks were the best we’ve had. She was kind enough to share her secrets. The food was incredible. The experience was special. Blue Duck Kitchen is a treat.

    We didn’t know it was “date night” when we booked. Two entrees, one desert, and a bottle of house red for $65. Great deal, and the food was amazing as always.

    It was my first time dining at the Bleu Duck. Had heard about their date night and thought it would a great way to celebrate a birthday. We were greeted right away and and were offered seating (where I requested) by the window. It was very nice. Our server was very kind, and knowledgeable and not pushy. We enjoyed everything that we tried for our dinner. Can’t wait to dine here again.

    Very impressed. I’ve long been incredibly disappointed with the very poor Rochester food scene. Thank good for the Bleu Du k and Marrow. The two exceptions to a dismal place for any foodie to exist, We shared the tacos for an appetizer and I had the pork belly main entree which was outstanding. My wife raved about her fish as well. Excellent job.

    Probably the best restaurant in Rochester. Great service with a genuine smile and decent food. What I did not like is constant air blow from a/c and ceiling fans. Why do you need them on in October in MN?

    We are from Chicago and love great restaurants!! Have been there twice while at Mayo and the food is great as is the service. We had two appetizers and they were kind enough to to split our entree in the kitchen. The best surprise of the evening were the salted chocolate chip cookies which we took back to our hotel. Kelsey was our amazing server!! Highly recommend!!

    Reservation via open table terrible experience. Wait staff great. Bar drink better than expected. Wine not so good. Starter walking tacos 4 stars. Lamb and steak 4 stars. NOISE l look level way too much. Reserved birthday expected something on table..card, confetti something! This was my second time dining it was ok will try another Downtown restaurant next. Nice but not memorable somewhat disappointed.

    We come to Rochester periodically. Always looking for new places we decided to try this restaurant. We arrived at 5pm so, not many people there at that time. The waitress was cordial and informative. Choices were good. We went with the fish special(Grouper that night). It was very good though the broth was salty. The lobster appetizer was quite tasty and just the right size for an appetizer. As we were leaving, it was busier and much nosier. I can see where the noise would be problematic on a busy night. Overall a good experience and would return.

    Great food and our server was awesome! We started up with some delicious oysters, my wife had the duck and I had the steak and we finished the night with the banana cream layer cake and a tawny. All INCREDIBLE! We will be back next time we’re in Rochester. Thank you!
