I’ve always loved the atmosphere and food at Blakes and the service has always been good. My experience was awful last Saturday though. Ambience and food were fantastic as always but the service was really bad. Extremely slow, we got served drinks about 40 mins after we sat having to ask for the drinks menu 3 times. The waitress was obviously a trainee with no idea about cocktails or wine. Not what you expect at a £100 per person restaurant. All else including the people at reception and cloakroom was flawless.
I always like the mood of this place
Food good but very expensive. Wine by the glass is incredibly expensive which is a pity.
Not sure if it works for a romantic night out as tables very big and felt I was a long way from my date.
The food is not good for the prices charged. There was no taste and it wasn’t presented that well either.
The wine was good and the decor was nice.
It’s fantastic. Staff amazing, ambiance lovely, food is great. Nice and quiet but still with a good vibe.
Although a bit far from public transport this is a very good value restaurant with attentive service
One of the best Sunday Roast in London! After Harrods closed its Georgian restaurant for Sunday Roast, I was despearte to find an alternative place where we can have good food in a nice atmospher. I used to live near the Blakes but moved away around 25 years ago and stopped visiting the Blakes since.
I got to know that they are doing nice Brunch menu and when checking their menu, I found out they do Sunday Roast. I went there with three of my friends just check it out after 25 years of absense. Everything was perfect. The beef tasted on of the best I'd tasted in London, and friendly and lovely service staff. After the meal, we had lovely time relaxing in the coart yard and felt it was an ideal way to spend lazy Sunday afternooons. I'll be a regular visitor of the restant and recommend it to all my friends!
We had a lovely table in the courtyard. The waiter was fun and very friendly. We are staying here for a couple of nights at the end of August for our wedding and I’m so looking forward to coming back.
Start upstairs with food with your date or small group of friends and enjoy good music and cocktails downstairs. Fun ambience with amazing food! Service can sometimes be slow but with good wine, it’s forgivable.
A warm inviting place for brunch or lunch, I would have enjoyed a little more music and less noise but still a very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
Lovely as usual. No complaints. Thank you for making my mum's birthday special
Was excellent as always! Thanks guys
Nice setting but food was average , my steak was chewy and the chicken leg was hard work , staff where great , music was a bit loud while eating , couldn't really hear my fiends .
Superb cocktails and food in a beautiful sultry ambience. Highly recommend!
We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a nice vibe. Food is very tasty and well presented. Service is good and so is the wine selection. Overall a very enjoyable dinner experience.
Very cool place. Good food. For any occasion perfect
Visiting London for the weekend had a lovely breakfast at Blake’s, atmosphere, service and food was excellent.
Will definitely return.
Very nice place, service and food. Could help if the wine list is a bit more varied, not only on the offer but also on price levels.
Unfortunately the food was not good, had a very boring salad and my friend's food wasn't much more exciting. Service was okay but did some basic service mistakes like mixing sparkling and tab water.
The atmosphere is really nice but the music was too loud, could barely have a conversation with 4 people and the food is just not worth the price. The bar is very nice though.
We were sitting next to a big table which was very very noisy. Food was very tasty a little over priced but than again you are in Chelsea. Service was nice, the place was very dark but yet again very romantic... I highly recommend it and I will return again.
A very cosy place with a great menu. The only downside is a very expensive and not particularly exciting wine list.
Due to business travel we eat dinner out about 180 nights per year.
This experience was one of the worst in the past five years.
When we sat down we were informed that they needed the table in two hours, actually no problem. Two hours for dinner for two is normal.
We ordered and the first course showed up in 5 minutes.
The mains showed up 10 minutes later.
The food was fine, but they have no clue how to time it and let you enjoy the evening.
So if you want a fast food experience at a fine dining price this place is for you.
If you want a night out in London, there were too many other great places and we can’t emphasize enough to avoid Blake’s.
Decor was stylish, but: tables were too close together to be private; food was unpleasant - sticky lamb; waiters and service was frenetic. Sorry, but not the place it used to be.
Nice place. Great food. Nice service.
Service was good but a bit too hasty. We felt a little rushed despite the fact that there seemed availability
Absolutely outstanding breakfast. Food was amazing and staff are absolutely impeccable.
Food was good but the waiters need some training on customer service. A couple of waiters were abrupt, didn't know the menu and very quick to correct/educate customers even though they were wrong.
The starters were good but the main, especially the lobster pasta were disappointing.
Really nice food and surroundings hope to be back soon
the space is lovely and very posh. the service was great.
We expected outstanding food but to be honest it was adequate. For the price we paid we expected the tea pot that did not leak and toast that was slightly more exciting than regular wholemeal that one can buy at the supermarket. However on the whole it was ok.
The best thing was the fruit platter but it was very expensive but at least it was nice.
We went for Brunch. Perhaps the lunch and dinner are better I saw some great looking plates pass by
Nice atmosphere; overpriced; food 7/10
Great vegan food that was 10/10. Perfect for our two year anniversary. I would deffo recommend it!
Amazing food and very friendly staff.
Great cocktails and an efficient, nice bar tender but then it all starts going wrong. A brash pushy and impatient waiter did not help.
Our £25 Three course menu came to a £294. The Blakes restaurant staff are experts at uplifting the bill. Served us 2 bottles of still water without asking clearly (for £12 each plus service charge, which would appear to be 9x the price of petrol). He also must have misheard our wine choice and gave us one of the most expensive glasses of wine. They are fully aware that most people especially when they are with guests are unlikely to make a fuss so they basically legally rip you off. So my advice is you are better off avoiding the restaurant in the first place unless money is no option for you
Me and my husband came here for our wedding anniversary dinner. The food was delicious and the staff were amazing, they were so helpful and even showed us around the hotel. Great place. Mr and Mrs Blake
Popped in for a weekend breakfast. The restaurant was pretty well empty and unsurprisingly definitely feels like a hotel restaurant. We both ordered a granola and yoghurt and a cooked breakfast each (egg Benedict and a scrambled egg on toast). All the food arrived at the same time with no query as to whether this might not be ideal. None of the food was top quality: granola a potential teeth breaker, vinegary poached egg etc. Coffees were poor, particularly the flat white. Fine if you’re a hotel guest but not worth it otherwise.
Great food and ambiance. My favourite has to be the octopus starter - delicious!
Disappointing food, staff and experience. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We decided to go to Blake’s based on memories of a beautiful dining experience with original artwork and decor that provided a truly unique atmosphere in the eighties. Back in the day Blake’s was a place one would go to for a real treat with Asian influenced food and atmosphere. Unfortunately the Blake’s that we found on this visit was nowhere near the original. The room has been moved from the original location and so the decor and atmosphere suffered. The food was simple and not inspired. The staff starting with the wonderful American lady hostess who seated us to the attentive waiter who served us where the highlights of the evening. Sadly, Anoushka Hemple’s original Blake’s is no more.
