Blackstones Steakhouse - Norwalk Ratings and Reviews
Took my girlfriend out for her birthday. This was my second time coming here, her first. I was very pleased with the service overall. The food was phenomenal. Even with a large party, the room was at a comfortable noise level. Can’t wait to come back again!
My husband and I would go to this restaurant for special occasions since it is a little pricey. We got there on time and was given a table in a little corner right near the door. It was about 4 degrees out at that time and every time the door opened, a winter blast of wind came in so we asked to be moved. Then they try to squeeze us in this little table against the wall which there was no way we were going to fit comfortably so, we asked for something else. Finally they gave us a bigger table in a more comfortable place but, it was at the edge of the walkway and kept getting bumped by people and servers waking by. We ordered drinks and our meal at the same time. I'm a little bit picking how I like my drink but, it appears it was totally disregarded. After we got our drinks, that was it. We did not see our server for an hour; it wasn't until my husband stopped someone that we were even able to ask about the food. We were told that since we didn't order appetizers, it threw off the timing, are you kidding me? Doesn't that mean we would get it sooner??? ...not once did the server come by and ask us about more drinks, what was happening with our dinner, nothing...maybe if we looked more expensive that maybe we would have gotten more respect as customers. No one apologized; did not even attempt to care about our experience or do something that indicated that they gave a crap about their customers. We will never go back there...horrible way to end the year. Thanks Blackstone.
Thinking of a 2001 special bottle, we had asked to pay corkage, but were told that was "not allowed." Turns out Blackstones has an incredible wine list at reasonable prices--would have left a better impression if they had just emphasized the positive. Other than that and a slow kitchen (we watched dinner after dinner passing every which way but ours), the food was as good or better than any NYC steak house.
Excellent porterhouse steak for 2. Fried onions are delicious. Wondering why patrons are not presented with a menu when they are seated, but have to wait until after drinks are ordered. Some people don't drink, and want to see the menu when they are seated.
This well-know steakhouse recently opened a new location in Southport, Connecticut. Coincidentally, a friend had dinner in the Southport location the same night as we have dinner with friends in the Norwalk location. We were dining with friends who where leaving on a two-year adventure and we chose this spot because they enjoy a good steak. The steak is superb and the service is great. Having said that, it is not inexpensive. Be prepared to spend more for a good meal here.
Their wine list is very extensive and a little pricey. However, the prices are not obscene as is the case in many other good steakhouse restaurants. We continue to go to this restaurant for special occasions or simply a special meal.
The location is not in a great neighborhood and the restaurant is in a strip mall. Parking is ample in the back of the restaurant. Once inside, the decor is pleasant but a little dark.
I would highly recommend the crab meat cocktail appetizer as well as the rib eye steak.
Great food and service. We were on vacation and brought our children not realizing the dinning area was small. The staff was very impressed with our children and constantly complemented their behavior. It would be a great place for a romantic dinner. There is a back bar area that we would have liked to visit. The steak was cooked exactly how we liked it. Overall, it was a great experience.
Great steak restaurant in Norwalk - a hidden gem for sure. It's like having Peter Luger's in your neighborhood. Love sitting in the bar room in the back - it's quiet and intimate. The staff is all very friendly and professional. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion, or to hang out at the bar watching a sporting event. Will definitely be back!
Visiting Blackstones is like taking a step back in time-to your father's favorite steak house. The dark interior is dimly lit and things, while elegant, feel lightly old-fashioned. Our waiter was rather humorless, but perhaps it was more of a dry sense of humor. Either way, the services was attentive and the food, (except for the has browns) was pretty decent. I must say, for some reason I had high hopes for the hash browns-they certainly disappointed. They tasted like diner hash browns with loads of green pepper. Not at all complimentary to our nice steaks and delicious Brussels sprouts.
