Blackstones Steakhouse - Greenwich Ratings and Reviews
Went there last Sunday with a Groupon as we have just moved into the Greenwich area.
First off, the menu was a special prix fixe just for the groupon. It was fine but the wine which was included was absolutely horrible. The wines on the prix fixe menu are not even available on the regular menu and if my Cabernet cost $10 a bottle I would be surprised. I did not expect this in such an upscale steak house. They would be better off not offering any at all.
My wife ordered special salad that was excellent but I ordered the bacon which was just a huge slab of fat. Now I expect bacon to be fatty but this was literally a giant slab of fat. When I brought this up to the waiter, his response was " well it's bacon ". Fat / Bacon. He said that twice. Unfortunately, there was no bacon. Just fat. Now as a diner who frequents Wolfgangs, Double Eagle and Peter Luger, I know what a nice slab of bacon is, and I expect it to be half fat but I literally could not find any meat at all.
It is what it is but I would have expected a better response.
For the main course, I had the filet, and my wife had the medallions of beef that were both cooked to perfection. Desert was also included and although we had no room, we still managed to put down some cheese cake.
We would go back as the steak was exceptional. The wine we purchased was also very good but the horrible selection on the prix fixe should just be omitted. It was really bad and hurts the brand. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
Service was very good as well. We had a very nice night and Blackstones is a very good steak house.
I have been here and before and the first time I went it was better experience. I went on a Sunday night and the place was practically empty which was fine. The table that I sat at wasn’t entirely set and had a dirty used bread plate. The food was very good and the staff was pleasant. I had used a Groupon and they have a very good menu selection for it.
Great family dinner at Blackstone's last Saturday night. Food was phenomenal! Every single plate from seafood apps to bone in ribeye was perfectly prepared and delivered quickly. I haven't been there in about 6 months and felt like there was a noticeable improvement all the way around since my last experience. I would really recommend this for business gatherings as well and plan to visit again soon in that capacity. The only reason for not receiving a 5 star on service was that there was about a 10 minute gap between the water boy and an actual waiter arriving to take a cocktail order, but it was a busy night and the service was very good after that initial hiccup. Cant wait to go back!
Went there on 1/1 around 6:30 pm. The place was half empty and the service was horrible. It took over an hour to get the entree's and that's after 30 min to get one salad. Maybe because no one was drinking they wouldn't give any attention. Expensive restaurant and bad service is not acceptable. It's too bad because Blackstone's is local for me. Next time we go to Capital Grill where you are guaranteed a great meal
Service was excellent as other reviewers have suggested. The wait staff was most attentive. The salads were tasty. The clam chowder had very few clams. And most disappointing was the bone in ribeye, which was undercooked (I requested medium but it came to the table rare). I would be willing to give the reataurant another shot.
The food was incredible! The employees were all very kind, I would definitely recommend this place to a family member/friend. It's a great place for any special occasion. I ordered the Seafood Linguini which is Half Lobster, Shrimp, Calamari, Clams Sauteéd in a Tomato Basil Sauce and my boyfriend ordered the Bone-In Ribeye Steak and a side of potatoes , both meals were outstanding.
The service was very good and the atmosphere enjoyable. The wine list was well selected. The appetizers were good, but not great. The creamed spinach was cheesy and too salty. The hash browns were bland and unevenly cooked. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection, but lacked the rich flavor found at most competing steak houses. Overall, it was acceptable, but I won't hurry back.
Every December my best friend and I meet at Blackstone's for dinner the first weekend in December. This year being the fifth year of this tradition. Every year is has been FABULOUS, utter perfection EXCEPT this year everything was such a terrible disappointment. First, we felt very rushed - rushed to order, rushed to eat and rushed to pay the check. We were there for 90 minutes and yet felt everyone was pushing us. We ordered onion soup and asked the bread to be left out. It came with the bread in the soup and so my friend could not eat it because she doesn't eat bread. We tried to signal the waiter, but to no success. The caesar salad was requested without anchovies and arrives with anchovies. We ate it anyway, but it was becoming a trend. We ordered the Large Rib-eye and realized no one asked how we wanted the steak. We caught the waiter's attention and told him medium. He said he would tell the kitchen but then as he was walking back, they brought out the steak. He just turned around and put it on the table despite that we just told him medium 10 seconds earlier! It was VERY RARE. We only ate a fourth of it because we prefer medium. It also had a fair amount of gristle. Within ten minutes of putting our food on the table, waiters started asking us if we were finished. We asked for coffee at the end of the meal and after 25 minutes, reminded them. The waiter hollered at my friend, I am making a fresh pot, hold your horses! It took us aback. Where did our beloved Blackstone's go? We miss the kind, gracious service and the delicious food. How could something have gone downhill so far? Not sure we will venture back.
We made a reservation on Open Table. Upon arriving the hostess called it up on her screen and confirmed it. From the distressed look on her face it became clear that the given that there were no available tables, and the line of people waiting ahead of us implied a long wait. She stated it would be "maybe 30 minutes", but as veterans of over booked restaurants doing the ole soft shoe, we knew it would be much longer. The hostess meanwhile dived into the software and quickly blocked all further reservations without looking up again. We asked her to please cancel our table and left for del Frisco's.
Blackstones is a fabulous place for a special occasion! The food is outstanding and plentiful. The only downside is they are not fond of Groupons! There is a special prix fixe menu with wonderful options however you can’t order anything off the main menu and they make you feel like second class diners!
Very professional, friendly, and welcoming service. The food is absolutely top-grade. The owners and chef have resisted the trend to a plate with an unrecognizable blob of this and that. Instead, they serve substantial portions of solid, delicious cuisine. Also high marks for an excellent, reasonably priced wine card.
My husband and I went to Blackstone's to celebrate our anniversary. It was our first time at the restaurant, and we were delighted with the atmosphere, food and service. The portions are incredible......I have never seen a baked potato that size!!! The food was impeccably prepared and plated. Don't miss the lobster bisque.
So I had a Groupon that expired. I called the restaurant twice to ask if they would still honor it. Hey said that they would, but then refused to once we were eaten and instead would only apply the paid for price to the meal, and would only lliw us to purchase off the Groupon menu. I understand the Groupon rules alow you to use the coupon for cash value, but the restaurant said they would honor it when I called and then reneged. That's bait and switch as far as I am concerned. There are plenty of other steakhouses in westchester. This I one I will never return to.
This was our second visit within a month as our adult daughter wanted to go back for her birthday. The service and food were fantastic. We had the tri color salad, scallops, filet mignon, dover sole special, escarole and broccoli. The wine selection is lovely. The one improvement that should be made is chair and table placement. The person behind me continuously knocked her chair into mine. Luckily it was towards the tail end of our dinner but it was highly annoying. Next time, I will request a corner table.
Great Time and Great Food!
The service is amazing from start to finish. The food presentation, the waiter staff and the food itself, was incredible! The customer care alone, leaves you wanting to return the next night to try something new.
I have been several times and each time the food and service has been Top Notch!
We were visiting Greenwich and made reservations through opentable but the restaurant never gave us credit for the points. We asked them to sign us in but i guess they didnt. That night they didnt have enough ingredients to make a French Martini, but the bartender knew it wasnt right and the waiter served it anyway. The bartender did make my wife a different drink that was good but we didnt like that the server tried to serve something they knew was wrong.
